You know, there's hundreds of great guitarists out there! Hendrix, Zappa, Gilmore, Lifeson, Beck, etc. But there's a lot of guitarists who will never see fame. Makes you think, maybe there was or is someone better than Hendrix who hasn't or isn't getting attention?!
did you know that this video is 'disabled by request' on Facebook? i just shared and it said so, you maybe want to get that fixed, just letting you know..
tremendous stuff! Would be so cool to hear more Zappa but I think his style is a lot harder to emulate. Note to viewers who may not be familar with FZ - get The Muffin Man from the album Bongo Fury, you'll drool, lol.
Hendrix will be smiling down on this guy, saying "Yeah! He's got it!"
So many guitarists who cover Hendrix seem to try playing blisteringly fast for the fills. Hendrix isn't about speed, his playing is both timing and soul and this man has got it both!
I think this is as near as anyone can get to emulating Hendrix' excellence :) Bravo!
In the first year I picked up guitar, 1969, I formed a power trio that played nothing but Hendrix, Cream, and Neil Young (bass player was a big Neil fan). I was terrible, the drummer was terrible, the bass player was a rich kid who had lessons at an early age and he was quite professional. We rehearsed a few times and did no gigs. It was fun. I'm a better guitar player now. These guys are great.
This music should be played by people who knows. You folks really know!!!!! In fact, the guy on the guitar seems just like George Carlin!!! Keep playing like that, you don't have too much life to waste....
You guys sound fantastic. Really nice lead guitar/vocal work. That room you're in is downright scary looking, though. Kinda like Zed's basement or something. XD
Y'all look like you're having a lot of fun during the Muffin Man part of the song. That's a great jam. Have you seen Hendrix or Zappa live? I've seen Frank and Dweezil a bunch of times but was too young to see Jimi.
Pretty damn good tribute! Well done. The sound from the drums, bass, and guitar are quite good. Is the axe run through a Marshall? Nice touch on the wah-wah and feedback! I would love to hear you guys do "Third Stone From The Sun" How about it?
@pigletized I'd have to disagree with you there. I'm 15 and pretty much all I listen to is Hendrix. I will agree that what you said applies to MOST "youngsters" today, as I don't know anybody my age that likes this kind of music (the good kind) :)
@DynamitRabbit I was wrong and am glad I was. I just met some young dudes on a job that I'm jamming with now. But it seems rare for 15yo to like old stuff. You must love music. i like alot of newer music too. its all good.
@pigletized I am also 19 not a kid but I am obviously not from this time and all my music is from Elvis to Led Zeppelin to Frank Zappa you name it most music from now really sucks pretty much the only new good music coming out is from older bands still around.
@DavidKinner There may be time "eras" but great music is beyond being trapped in a decade or a few years of time. So enjoy it. It's just that years ago bands had more freedom and fans probably did too.
I completely agree with zapalives and I think you're really good: combining Hendrix & Zappa is daring and not just any band can do that. Chapeau! The only flaw - in my opinion - is that you try to sing like Hendrix as well. Just use your own voice: in blues it can't be bad :)
Good job. I appreciate you trying to change the solo style when you switch to Zappa, but it still sounds very hendrix !! however great technique, and very similar groove to the original ! Kudos to the three of you !!
Go cats go! Rhythm section is more than holding it down, and the there's some SERIOUS grab to the sounds coming out of that guitar man....you most surely have the vibe of this music.
First of all, these guys are really good rockers. They do justice to the music...and then some....And they are playing a place that , for all the world, looks like an old-time juke-joint. That is where rock started, where the heart-felt stuff still happens...not Giants Stadium. Finally, they are playing rocking good music. Kudos dudes!
I wasn't expecting this jem out of the basement. I used to listen to the muffin man every day before I went to school. I saw Frank in 77 from about 4 to 5 feet away in a small venue, it was insane. This video has the hard felt grit that makes this type of rock fun.
