  • why is the British Q ship firing on a British E Class submarine?

  • I wasn't aware I had been flagged, so no harm done!

  • Thanks anyway hxejeff...

  • @MrNarrowboat I didn't flag anything as spam. Not sure what happened here. Sorry.

  • Thanks anyway hxejeff...

  • Is there any footage of U24? My grandfather was on board HMS Formidable, when it was torpedoed on 31st December 1914.

  • @MrNarrowboat Unfortunately, the U-boats are very hard to identify in footage this old. Being mostly submerged in the shots doesn't help either. I honestly do not know.

  • is this a german vid?

  • @ArchiveOfTruth ahh...mostly British footage but in some cases nations exchanged footage after the war ended. So there is a possibility of German footage being mixed in. Although obviously from a different perspective or angle than the British. Many battles were filmed from both sides.

  • those germans subs proved to be doom of british navy in WW1 and evolved to be even more dangerous against ships in WW2

  • englische verbrecher: geschütze tarnen um dann uboot zu versenken die sich an die seekriegsregeln halten und die seewegeblokieren auch nach dem waffenstillstand

    ein erbärmliches verhalten

  • just asking, can someone explain to me how ww1 submarines were able to submerge

  • @justinjacques766 Submarines have ballast tanks. When they need to submerge the tanks are filled, when they surface the water in pumped out.

  • Great footage. Shows some of the human enginuity put into warfare from both sides.

  • Superb footage, but what did the RN have acoustic gear in WW1?

  • this soundtrack is from the video game Call of Duty united offensive

  • Q-Ships. Und dann haben sich die Engländer gewundert, wenn die deutschen U-Boote ohne Vorwarnung angeriffen haben.

  • it's horrible! it looks like nobody survives in this huge ship!

  • Where did you find this? It's great!

  • @KooKooRooWhore I have a large archive of WW1 footage that I stumbled across. There is about 25 solid hours of footage in the set. Most of it not seen by probably 95% of the people out there. Simply amazing stuff!! In fact one of my videos on WW1 caught the attention of the BBC in London. They want to know where I got it too. lol

  • i'm so showing this movie to my grade ten history class. It really shows the dangers of what the navies went through and how they overcame it. Thanks for posting.

  • Outstanding video. My father served during WWI in the Navy aboard the USS Aeolus so this is very moving for me to see this, reminds us of the danger the troops were in.

  • dang i bet your around 80 years old

  • You'd be wrong, my father was 55 when I was born, so no, I am late 50's.

  • well i was thinking around the average age ppl had babies and thats around 20 years old but your dad was born when?cause i was born in 96 and its just a fasination of me to think of what kids did who who around xactly 100 years before me lol

  • Oh, yes almost 100 years, my father was born in 1895, how about that, and he had a brother born a year to the day after him. 14 children in all that his mother had! Amazing.
