  • @BusyAtomdotcom 안녕하세요, thank you for your advise. I think my writing is ok, it's readable and my Boss admired it one time but my problem is spelling. If you don't mind, could you give me some tips to improve my spelling skill? Thank you so much. (^_^)

  • In Belgium it's now 19:04

    And in Newyork city 12:04

Why?? I cant explain it in english it's difficult for me :(

  • I glanced at the screen at problem 2 (because he was moving the cursor) n as i did, he said "Dont look at the screen!" Lmao! XD

Did I make any sense at all? I meant to say, it's difficult to memorize the position of the letters in the keyboard. But thanks for the help, I finally learned how to toggle from Eng to Hangul in my keyboard.

- very good! One thing that I am proud of in my life is the fact that I actually memorized Korean and English type sets. As a result, I can type things in the dark^__^.

  • @nejiki8 can you tell how you toggle between Eng and Hangul? I hv chinese (both trad & simplified versions), French and now Hangul installed in my pc. It is easy to toggle btw Eng & Chinese or Eng & French by just hitting the Shift key but that doesn't work for Eng & Hangul. I need to click on the 가Han/Eng icon to tog btw the two.Any suggestions?

  • @xyleni

xyleni, it's the same with me, I just click the Eng to Han icon in the task bar to toggle between the two, but if you click on that icon w/ two small rectangles adjacent to the Eng-Han icon (I dunno what it's called), a dialog box will appear where you can adjust & customize the setting. Under Advanced Key Settings, you can customize which keys you want to use to toggle between the two languages. BTW, I'm not sure this works for all types of operating systems.

  • @nejiki8 Oh...thank you so much. Also, do you have the problem when you want to type the next word but the hangul character adhere to the current one you are typing and you have to press the Enter key to in order to separate it? I have to do that which is such a nuisance. All my hangul characters were spaced out and I have to delete the spaces btw them. aigoo!

  • @xyleni

xyleni, if I understood your question right, maybe it's because every syllable in Korean can have a maximum of 3 letters, so the cursor won't move to the next space unless you manually move it with the right arrow key. So if I need only 2 letters to make one syllable, I have to use the right arrow key to go to the next syllable, and the space bar key to make another word. Like if you wanna type in 마리 versus 말이 you need to use the right arrow key after 마 so the ㄹdoesn't stick.

  • @nejiki8 You read me right. Many thanks! Why didn't I think of using the right arrow key? So silly of me. It never once occurred to me. Thanks for solving my problem. You're very kind.

  • @nejiki8 Um... Something is strange... I thought the computer (or input method) takes care of those issues. For example, 마리: I can just type ㅁ+ㅏ+ㄹ+ㅣ without using any arrow or enter keys - since there's no such a word like "말ㅣ", the input method knows that it is 마리. for 말이, I just type ㅁ+ㅏ+ㄹ+ㅇ+ㅣ. I normally don't use arrow or enter key at all to type Korean in my mac EXCEPT when I use PowerPoint. Somehow my powerpoint acts just like @xyleni described -very strange...

  • @BusyAtomdotcom LOL. I'm such an idiot. I've been doing it the hard way all along. Now, your answer actually makes more sense. This is why discussions like these are very helpful learning tools. Thank you so much for correcting my wrong notion. ^-^

  • @xyleni

xyleni, please read BusyAtomdotcom's reply to my comment. It makes more sense than what I told you before. It's much simpler to do it that way w/o needing to use the arrow keys. Sorry for the misinformation, I'm trying to learn too.

  • @nejiki8 Yes! I tried it out and it works like BusyAtomdotcom said...hehe...makes me look like an idiot. The first time when I noticed that the 3rd letter adhere to a syllable, my reaction was to separate the character. I wonder if it works for all syllables or not. Unfortunately right now my knowledge of Korean is limited. I still hv to peek at the lessons to chk whether a word is spelt with aㅔ or a ㅐ

  • Q15) Yes for me. The reason is because we are at different longitudes around the globe. Malaysia is leading New York by 12 hours!

**PS: It's really hard to translate Q11-Q15 answers to Korean now.**

  • Q11) 김,이 and 박 Q12) I am using Windows 7 Tablet PC Input Panel. Just google for the terms and voila! "안녕하세요 여러분! 전 알레스예요. 말레지아 사람이에요. 전 학생이 아니에요. 한극에 하고 싶어요! Q13) *what do you mean by lateral number? i think the answer is 3. Q14) My guess is they use Trial&Error method, which they mapped out the so-called landmarks along the water bed by using their low frequency sonar. And since they are traveling in arrow, I'd bet the leader of the whale must be super experienced! lol..

  • @flyordiesy

    13) Sorry I meant a natural number, so 3 is correct^__^.

    14) HAHA I like your answer here - the whale leader^__^.

  • @BusyAtomdotcom

Lol at Q12..why would I type it as 'I want to do Korea'???? I must have missed it as I was typing it.

  • Q1) Hello all, I am Rebecca. I am American. Q2) Rebecca, are you a student? Q3) No, I am an English teacher. Q4) Monica, are you an Italian? Q5) Yes, I am an Italian. Q6) What is your blood type? Q7) What is this? Q8) Pil suk, what is your school grade? Q9) Ah, really? I am also 3rd grade. Nice to meet you. Q10) Yes, me too spend my time well.

  • uhmmm... sonsaengnim... I need help! :) How to type korean on my computer? I search for it in the internet. but when I'm going to choose what language I want to use, there is no korean.. Just "english"... eotteokhe? :(( But I answered the quiz numbers 1-10 without looking at the screen :) Thank you sonsaengnim for the videos :)

  • @mae4884

Go to your start menu and click on 'Contro Panel'.

Then click 'Clock, Language, and Region'

Then click 'Change Keyboard or Input Methods'

Select the tab that says 'Keyboards and Languages'

    Click 'Change Keyboards'

On the right-side there the word 'Add' click that.

Go to Korean click on it and then click on keyboard and make sure to check mark 'Microsoft IME'

    Then press 'Ok'

And your done ^^ If you have questions feel free to ask me.

  • @bdgrlberly Thank you so much for the detailed description. Since many people asked me about this I made forum entry about Korean typing method. Would you mind if I copy your reply and put as one of answers? Or maybe you can visit my site and leave reply there if it is not too much. Thank you.

  • @BusyAtomdotcom

Oh no problem ^^ I can put it on your website. It's not a problem at all.

  • @bdgrlberly Grazie!

  • @bdgrlberly there's no korean in 'Add'... I guess I have to download it... but I don't know what to download...

  • @mae4884 I guess @bdgrlberly already answered your question. I have put this question to my forum also for other people.

  • does anyone know where I can download that book???

  • @bdgrlberly Hello? Your Korean is really good! A minor corrects will be 있어습니다 --> 있어요 for context, 이건 --> 이거 or 이 유튜브 방송, 선생님을 --> 선생님이, 제 한국어를 잘 못합니다 --> 저는 한국어를 아직 잘 못합니다., 시도해요 --> 다할께요.

  • @BusyAtomdotcom

(I can't seem to get my answer to come out right for this question)

  • @bdgrlberly

    고정 --> 교정.

    13) 로그10은 1, 로그100은 2, 그래서 로그10 더하기 로그100은 3.-- Good!

    14) 아마도 그들은 태어날 때 부터 그런 능력이 있나봐요.

    15) 네 한시간 차이나요. 시카고는 뉴욕보다 동쪽에 있어서 그래요.

  • @bdgrlberly Actually I made a mistake in #15) It should be 서쪽 (west side) not 동쪽 (east side).

So 시카고는 뉴욕보다 서쪽에 있어서 그래요. or You can say 뉴욕은 시카고보다 동쪽에 있어서 그래요.

  • i did not look at the screen. i wrote this based on what i hear. hope its correct. 1: hello, everyone i am rebecca. i am from america. 2: rebecca, are you a student? 3: no. i am an english teacher. 4: monica, are you italian? 5: yes, i am italian. 6: what is your blood type? 7: what is this? 8: pil suk, what grade are you in? 9: ah, really? i am in third grade too. 10: yes, i've been doing well too. am i right teacher?
  • @msb3lins Amazing! Maybe I forgot to say strongly in the video but #Q9 has "Nice to meet you" - 만나서 반가워요 at the end^__^.
