My dad who 46 and has split more arrows then i can count, and has hit dead on center more times then i can count got a gut shot last year, its not our fault if we have a bad one once in a while.

that same thing happened to me, but mine was a buck. first buck too! i'd let so many of them go, i just thought about shootin the next buck i saw. i shot it. backflip, spasm, and it went like a plow through the brush. i thought it was a small 7 or 8 point. turns out, it was a big 8 point, scored 130. amazing buck

In many views this way to kill an animal is much more humane because if you were to buy the meat from the store, the store has given the animal steroids to make it grow faster and kill it when it's only been alive for a little less than 2 years. In the wild it has had a full life time to grow.

@bryanm317 here in SD we have a program called Sportsman against Hunger, where anyone can shoot a Doe and take it to a local meat processor and they process the deer and give it to less fortunate families that need food. Now thats what is good about hunting
As for everyone that thinks this is cruel, this is a lot more humane of a death than starvation or at the teeth of other predators. Where we live, if we don't thin them out every year they simply would over populate and starve.
Same as where i live. In NYS the deer population is incredible. Without the yearly hunting season, the population would get so out of control there would be a mass starvation. They've released Cougars and other predatory animals in the wild to help control the population. This population control also reduces the number of accidents every year. There's a huge benefit to hunting that people just don't see.

I agree with you when you say that some hunting is necessary to prevent overpopulation, but I wish you hadn't mentioned the dying "at the teeth of predators" thing. Population control to prevent deer from starving is one thing, but some have to die at the teeth of predators, or else the predators' populations will starve. It's a food chain thing.
One would think that the hunter who shot the deer would simply tell where they hit it. Good fotage of the least cool part of hunting. How about the great silence of the dark followed by the mornings first whipperwill. Or a turkey cutting it's wings off the pirch. Mmmm! DEFINITELY love a good deer roast in the crock pot. Pretty much everything my boyfriend's family makes is deer meat. Stew, roast, steak, burgers. Love it. I'm so happy it's hunting season again so they can restock the freezer!

haha my first deer did this it was a 134 pound 4 point caught it at an angle through his back and backflip and a 40 yard run followed however my next shot on the 165 pound 5 point i shot dropped him in his tracks dead in 5 seconds
