Wht isn't einsteins theory of general relativity mentioned as replacing Newtons theory? I went through school without einstein being mentioned just Newtons old theory?

Perhaps, if the model of cosmological expansion can be reinterpreted as a mathematically equal but opposite model of cosmological contraction, it might shed some light on the phenomena of gravitational attraction. :)
