It's called looping, it's an effect related to delay and it's built into many delay units. Push a button, play something, push a button, it repeats. Push a button, record over it... it's very simple, but takes time to master.
Amazing, love it. I also enjoy watching you get into the music and feel it. One of the greatest classical pieces every written, which inspire people to make it also thier own. Thank you
It's coming. I'm looking into quality recording equipment for an album. I'd started an album but it wasn't working. So, hopefully soon I'll start to cracking for real. :)
Very Truly appropriate for Na nach Nachma Nachman MeUman! I was Na Naching all the way through. You broke through your classical training and set your soul free into the Violin. Very creative video, fun to watch listen and dance to. The final Redemption will depends on music. TT J J :-)
You are Fantastic! I started playing the violin when I was in the 5th grade, and now that I'm in college I no longer have anyone to play with. It would be so awesome to do a round like this alone. This is awesome...
Oh, Lord... The first time heard this song, Me and and some friends were playing it (not very well, but...), and the first thought I almost cried and thought: "My Lord... I heard the angels singing..."
you might want to upgrade to a mac book pro (if you haven't yet), hooking up that pedal would allow you more maneuverability and would allow you to make more complex arrangements, you have talent.
I'm, surprisingly, not that incredibly technologically... inclined. Someday I might start using computers and whatnot, but I was, and still am, looking at that huge Boss pedal that allows you to loop three different loops, interchange them, and play them at the same time. It's cool... but really expensive!
Steve, VERY cool! Thanks for the nod! Although I LOVE Karen and a lot of her work, Pachelbel Reggae is my least favorite. A lot of that CD was overproduced, to no fault of her own. When I did Canon, I to combine the classical nature of the original piece with a live blues-rock feel, and a bit of reggae thrown in. I try not to copy what she did just because this song is so beautiful and wide open that there are so many other ways to do it, just like you've done it! Congrats!
Haha, no worries!!! Not a biggie at all. Karen is a sort of mentor to me, and we're MySpace Friends, too. In my first few years of playing electric and live, I emulated her stylings, but I found out from watching and meeting a lot of other players that it was better to find my own voice. She's always been encouraging, though.
Thanks! I had it installed with a Schatten bridge pickup. I also had the option of the Barbera or the EVL, but I chose the Schatten and I've installed Helicores on there... you can see a pic on FiddleForum under "show us pics o' your electric"
Funny you should say that you emulate her, because I hear a lot of Karen in your playing at times... and it's also strange, because at time's I've emulated YOU in my playing... :D
The funny story about me and Karen - my sophomore year, I was hating orchestra and my private teacher and got burned out, so my director agreed to let me pass with a C if I would sit at the back of the class and do homework. I realized I wouldn't get into the Junior Year AP classes with that C.
She then said she would give me an A if I went on the class field trip to see Yanni in concert. I'm so glad I needed that A because I saw Karen for the first time w/ Yanni and my desire to play was renewed. It's a HUGE compliment that you say you hear her in my playing - without her I would not have played again.
Yep, especially in the upper registers, a bit in the lower registers...
That's definately funny about you in class... but obviously important, or we wouldn't even be talking! And I would have never learned this song... 0_0
What effect do you use to repeat the tracks?

What kind of pedal-thing do you use for repeating what you just played?
Loeffens 4 years ago
Thanks, I use a Line6 DL4 delay modeller set to the built in looper... it only has 14 seconds of loop time, but it's plenty for simple loops...

damn cool. really impressive. just a little: for my taste there are too much overdubs. i try to play as few voices as possible. anyways. amazing! ;)
Lcalavera 4 years ago
Yeah, what I really need is to have a volume pedal to turn down the overdubs better. I try but it's hard to do everything with your toes!

By the way, Steve, what electric violin is that?
omarlopezmusic 4 years ago
Hi Omar!
I thought perhaps, since you seem to be friends with Karen, that you might have been somehow inspired by that song... my mistake!
The violin is an EVL (electric violin lutherie)...
Varian128 4 years ago
