Good luck in your search for the first "Rock N Roll" song. You can at least rule out Elvis, Fats (Some may argue with me on that) Bill Haley and Jackie Brenston.
Just because Sam Phillips said so doesnt make it true. Rocket 88 was recorded in March of 1951 and was based on the rocker Cadillac Boogie" by Jimmy Liggins from 1947. The Fat Man was recorded in 1949 and released in 1950. HOWEVER, there is no way that The Fat Man by Domino nor the latter Rocket 88 by Brenston were either the first rocknroll record. The point I made in the description was that it (The Fat Man) was credited as being the first rocknroll MILLION SELLER.
almost perfect experience but for those visions of the ex resident.

@madebutante Long time, no see. You need to un-ex yourself. You'd be surprised at the number of things you can do to yourself! Never mind.

Did you know by the way that this week it was exactly 60 years ago that he recorded this song?
Thus kicking off a career of over 60 years and counting!

No I didn't. Thanks for the info and thank you to Fats for 60 years and "still counting" (and a lot more I hope!)

As Bob Street once said: This is the book of Genesis of Rock and Roll... And it was good!
