I'm an atheist yet I have some fear for death. That's though only cos I don't want to die this young.. because I want to explore this wonderful, beautiful world. There's so much to see and witness in everywhere around us that I'd never like to lose it. Maybe I'd die peacefully after living a great life. Though if I learned that I was about to die in the near future, I would prolly try to accept the possiblity as there's nothing you can do to help it except to hope to survive. It helps a lot tho.

@dordor147sback actually, protestantism came about when Martin Luther started to realize that catholicism wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and nailed each of his complaints to the door of his church, and decided to split from the church......Henry VIII took Luther's ideas and twisted them to suit his purposes, the end result of which was the inception of the Anglican Church

Secondly, regardless of why it chose to sponsor Catholicism doesn't change what our religion is about or the truth of Christianity. And regardless of what others think of God, we will continue to worship him if we want. It wouldn't be very Christian to quit following him just because some HUMAN thinks he knows better than God.

@dordor147sback one teensy problem, most protestantism is related to the establishing of the sectarian schisms found throughout history most notably The Lutheran Reformation, the Calvinists,etc. The protestants related to Henry are the Anglican (American Branch of the Church of England), and CoE sects. They actually make up a pretty small relative proportion of the overall Christian branches.

Imo that's appeal of religion: Not just nothingness, the end of your consciousness, but a "reward" for what you had to endure while still alive. Or rather, the promise of a reward, to keep you quiet and going when life is a burden to you.
I think the world will be a better place when we all realize that the only reward we get is having carried our species a bit further, hopefully in a direction were everyone can enjoy his only life, without the need for a 'heaven'.

I'm an atheist yet I have some fear for death. That's though only cos I don't want to die this young.. because I want to explore this wonderful, beautiful world. There's so much to see and witness in everywhere around us that I'd never like to lose it. Maybe I'd die peacefully after living a great life. Though if I learned that I was about to die in the near future, I would prolly try to accept the possiblity as there's nothing you can do to help it except to hope to survive. It helps a lot tho.

I would ask again for a verse from you, but it doesn't exist. Therefore, you have NOT given a citation. You have simply changed the subject to the ability of women to be preachers/teachers in the Church in Corinth. Go back and support your claim or say you can't. @dordor147sback actually, protestantism came about when Martin Luther started to realize that catholicism wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and nailed each of his complaints to the door of his church, and decided to split from the church......Henry VIII took Luther's ideas and twisted them to suit his purposes, the end result of which was the inception of the Anglican Church

@dordor147sback I'm not sure you realize this, but Protestants came about well over a century before King Henry decided to split away for a divorce. Secondly, regardless of why it chose to sponsor Catholicism doesn't change what our religion is about or the truth of Christianity. And regardless of what others think of God, we will continue to worship him if we want. It wouldn't be very Christian to quit following him just because some HUMAN thinks he knows better than God.

He then sent Jesus to Earth to die for us, and the life and teachings of Jesus were then written down as the New Testament. Forming, The Bible. @dordor147sback one teensy problem, most protestantism is related to the establishing of the sectarian schisms found throughout history most notably The Lutheran Reformation, the Calvinists,etc. The protestants related to Henry are the Anglican (American Branch of the Church of England), and CoE sects. They actually make up a pretty small relative proportion of the overall Christian branches.
As for Islam...you are kidding right? Its just as schizm-ed all over the damn place.

@crosbying nah I think Jesus lived once, he was one of the crazy prophets babbling about nonsense. It was not uncommon among them to end up being executed :P he did some great lectures about life in general though, and some of them could be used as guidelines for life by everybody. Such as the Golden Rule (I aint sure though whether it was taught by Jesus or someone else), that's the very best way to interact with other people :)
