I loved how Maetel looked in the first 30-40 episodes of Galaxy Express 999, but after that he slightly changed her look and made her facial structures thinner. I used to love how everytime Maetel used to come on screen, she was always put infront of a black or dark blue background which made her come off as much more mysterious.

Like the Grinch on, literally, Christmas Eve... I'm green with envy! Matsumoto-sensei's character designs are iconic. It's unfortunate, however, to hear some fans in the anime & manga community comment on his body of work as "dated" but your upcoming coverage in Otaku USA Magazine should help shed light on the scope and gravity of Matsumoto's influence.

MAETEL! I will love Matsumoto's works forever but it seems like everyone in my (the teenage) generation seems to overshadow Galaxy Express 999 and Yamato with Captain Harlock, personally Galaxy Express 999 will always be my favorite even though the vhs prices are ridiculously high!

Wow I'm very envious they got to see Mr. Matsumoto. His work is outstanding and it must have been an honored to get a picture drawn instead of a simple signed autographed. I'm definitely getting this issue of Otaku magazine.
