@markabejero, Each person's vocal range is unique. With that said, it's important to note that males go through a voice change during puberty. On most occasions, boys generally sing alto/soprano before that voice change, and tenor/baritone/bass after puberty. Although it's also true that with work, most boys can retain their falsetto even after the voice box has developed, which therefore means that a SATB(soprano alto tenor bass) piece can be done with an all-male choir.

I am a lit smitten about the little knowledge that some people have. so called boys soprano are the cleares sopranos, they are even better than the one of trained opera singers. For that reason many kids in the late midle ages had been castrated to keep their high pitched voices. If you like to know more about that, look for "Il castrati". The music had been composed by Brahms. There was no one to sing that so they had to use 3 ladies as back ground singers in the movie.

Some boys have very high voices,

they are called boy-sopranos,

others are altos.

In general, the divisions in a choir are by the range in that division without regard to sex. If one can sing the range of a soprano they are called a soprano. Radu Marian can sing notes up to c''' (C6). He is called a sopranista - a male soprano. He has recordings on YouTube.

soprano is simply a higher key, it doesn't denote any type of specific sex.
