I've had the chance to meet a fellow who wants to trade a Martin D-18 1971 against my gibson Sg special faded 3, with seymour duncans.. It cost me around 2,3-2,4 thousand dollars, including the price when i bought it and mic switch etc etc. Could you recommend me to switch? I've played some martins that I love, but never a D-18. Does it match a Taylor 914 in the sound? Thanks for the help :P
@smalltownhysteria hi, obviously you'll have to try it first... the swap seems ok to me, in terms of value (nobody pays too much for changes made to an instrument - changing pickups etc.) Trond
1971 is not a good year for D-18s, or Martins in general--they made changes to the bridge plate, etc., that really deadened those guitars--I'd look for pre-69, or post-86
Which song do you play in the beginning? Sounds sweet!

Really nice hybrid picking on a super sounding Martin.

@jchristian67 I really don't know... It was just something that "popped up" as I was trying the guitar.

What part of it is from 1940? Looks like a new saddle and the tuner pegs are too tall for a 40. Finish looks new as well.

As much as I admire you, I depose you for making me realise that I will never ever achieve what I want from my guitar...

I love so much the sound of this Old D18 ...
is a sound so full and rich that I do not feel the need of rosewood, but is also credited with the player, very impressive & great play!
