  • An American nurse in the Philipines during WW2...found this poem on a locker written by one of the young wounded men who'd passed through that day..years later when she passed away her daughter found it among her personal effects....thank God it was found and not discarded....nobody knows who wrote it...one of the most powerful songs I ever heard...absolutely stunning!.........from England.

  • John Gorka "Let Them In" youtube video from May 2009 explains the origin of the song and the author of the poem.

  • THANK YOU! so much for reiterating something so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless!

  • Beautiful rendition! Thanks so much for sharing this.

  • ...god bless of course

  • ..God Bless

  • Nice cover of a John Gorka song which I believe was based on a poem but was rewritten by John and put to music by him.

Good bless those affected and my thoughts on the war do include you.

  • very touching, one of the great songs not many people know about

  • Great job with this. This is one of my favorite songs and it is done by other artists as well. I should let you know one thing. John Gorka did not write it. It was written by a nun in the Korean war as she took care of dying soldiers.

  • Your correct, John wrote the music but the lyrics were written by an unknown author. I've updated the description

  • Nice video. Thanks, much appreciated.

  • @Bcmsr53 Apologies...I didn't see your post until after I'd posted...I didn't mean to contradict you...I think my info came fron the sleeve of a David Wilcox album.....It doesn't matter who wrote this...it's still a great piece of English literature.

  • Good Job.

  • Not anymore, I served in the USAF after the first gulf war. Never in any danger. I did not post this is a pro or anti war statement. What any of us think of the war has nothing to do with the sacrifices made by those who are serving, or the families they leave behind.

  • Are you a soldier? I wish you were all home, safe and sound, with your families...my thoughts and prayers are with you. Know we who oppose this war do so with your best interests at heart...

  • well done sir.
