Dominique Dawes - 1994 Worlds EF - Balance Beam

does n e 1 else suppose had they made the Team worlds that spring in Australia & instead made the fall worlds in Germany that season, Dawes would've performed well enough to medal AA, UB, BB & FX. it would've been after her nationals performance and she'd added a bigger release skill to bars by that point. coulda? woulda? shoulda? i know, lol, but still.

I hated to see Domi not get any medals at this Worlds. She made up for it at the 94 nationals though.

i agree isa1285, i think she was only 17 here, i think she was just a tad too old in the olympics in 96

You're born with bow legs, can't change those. And you can stretch your feet for your entire life but you have to be born with a certain amount of stretch and flexion in your ankle and in-steps. From 94 on, her feet were always glued together, she never cowboyed her tumbling, and with the form areas she could control, she did.

That was when the four element series was really valuable, and most gymnasts had to whip the layouts to fit the series on the beam (Fabrichnova is the perfect example of this). I think Liukin's are pretty stellar because of her 180 degree leg separation in the layout and the lift she gets in each layout. .

Her knee's are bent. Not clean AT all and she doesn't point her toes.

Dominique is not known for her grace but for her power and dynamics, in which back then she bought excitement to the sport, instead of those boring gymnast with no personality or originality. Dominique cleaned up over the years, she was the ONLY reason I watch the sport AT all

Did you hear me dipshit. Like I said already she is a bad gymnast, and way overrated. You know nothing about gymnastics. I nearly killed myself when she swept Miller on all 4 events at the 94 Nationals.

I love Dominique's power and I like her as a person, but her form when she performs the layouts is awful! Bent knees and she could point her toes once in a while! Still, I think she's one of the best American gymnasts ever!
