@arabiansanchez Bronies are fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And, in the episode, "A Dog and Pony Show", there are a species of dog called the Diamond Dogs.
My Dad still has the LP of this, along with a bunch of other Bowie albums. we set up the record player and listened to it today. This is my favorite David Bowie song.
It's funny how some idiots think they are cool just because they say that 70s, 80s and 90s music is better than today WELL GUESS WHAT every period has great musicians and if your royal ass doesn't like it it doesn't mean it's shit.
saw a truck pulling an advertisement of this in '73 on it's way to some kinda promotion at a record store, i'm guessing. i said lookit, my friends said, what a freak show! i was already a fan by then. bowie set the bar for promotion
some1 has actually posted an R.I.P David Bowie video on here somewhere ¬_¬ but he isnt dead!!!!! and he never will be....hopefully...anyway kick ass song!
although not credited im sure keith richard played guitar on this tune... thats why it sounds like the stones.. they were around the studio alot i think too
there was a TV special..with the Troggs & a rock -flamenco band...and on it the words to 1984 are different slightly.....David Bowie was always Arena sized productions ....when punk started he sort of endorsed Devo...and under his endorsment they were to "big" to appear @ CBGB's...they went right to "the bottom line"...... later Devo played CBGB to show they were humble i guess
The 8 track days if you were cruzin in a car. You always had to have a book of matches handy to use as a wedge if the tape was acting weird. All we had back then was matches so they were always in arms reach. Adjust it, turn up the volume, spark another doobie and move on. This song was great on acid.
Bowie on lead guitar on this entire album save for Alan Parker that appears on '1984' Not that theres anything really flashy, but it put to rest the BS that Bowie can't play. Bowie is multi-instrumental!
I heard this album was a commercial and critical flop when it first came out. How is that possible? Were the mid 70's so creatively barren that they didn't know genius when they saw it?
The best concerts (2) one the matinee at 2:pm ,then the evening concert at O'Keefe Center Toronto ,in June 1974...if you did not attend thes, well don't come back to school after that summer baby doll..david comes to Toronto a few times per year...he and Iman have several friends here...met him 3 times and he is always such a really funny guy...sense of humor to beat the band...so intelligent ...all best to my y.t. friends..I will post the two photos i have of David and Iman..best to all
