They are so adorable when they are little. Happy memories of my GP giving birth when I was a preteen. 4 babies I found homes for with my girlfriends. Years later, I always had a soft spot for them when I see them. Those noises they make, the funny chirps and weeepps. Such funny little critters. When one in the tank starts weeping, the whole tank chimes in! Remember these days. I only have one picture of me and my little pig. Now a days you have all these videos etc. Now I have pussycats.
@cmon671 Hi, it was on the radio in the room, but I am pretty sure it was Heart of Glass by Blondie, If you search for it on You Tube, there is one by Vivo :-)
I have a question more so curious, was reading i the commets, so if a piggy has babies aat 8 months old would she be able to have more as she gets older/ Are can no piggies have any after 1? i tryed looking it up found nothing,
@mandyherself Hi, as long as she has her first babies before she is one year old, then she will be fine having more babies in the future, it is just that their pelvic bones set at about 1 year old, and if they have not had babies by then the opening will be too small for the babies to pass through, hope this is what you were after :-)
@PennBratz If you are going to breed then she really should have babies before one year old as her pelvic bones set and it could kill her when giving birth :(
@susieponies I didn't want to mate her I didn't mean to say that but my male guinea pig got to her because my dad put them in the same cage to watch them mate (Gross right!?)
can anyone help me how to see when she is ready to deliver, becouse my mishka is expecting, and i think that deliver should be this week, but i dont know when to separate her from the male..
I find it pretty amazing how there is a certain timing between each birth, giving the mother enough time to clean the baby almost fully before the next one is delivered. Nature is incredible :3
@RenateWinx Hi, puppies and kittens are as well, but they don't have their eyes open for the first few days, there are a lot of the bigger animals born with hair and can get up and move straight away like foals, calves, lambs and goat kids. :-)
my albino guinea pig has had a babies not at the same time she had 2 then a few months later had 6 but unfortunately they all diedapart from the mum xx
How does the mom react to you touching her babies? will she bite you? Is there a certain amount of time you are supposed to leave them alone completely with their mom? Ive heard rodents get very vicious when they give birth if you try to pick her or her babies up
@leenthebeenbag Hi, mum was fine, although I do not tend to handle them for a day or two so she doesn't get stressed. up to yet I have not been bitten by a guinea pig! (touch wood :) ) I do not find Guinea pigs to be nasty animals, they are not like Rats, mice, or gerbils etc that do tend to bite when they are afraid
@leenthebeenbag Sorry that came out wrong :-) I didn't mean Rats etc were nasty animals just that they can tend to bite if frightened as that is their form of defence. I have not owned a Rat but have heard they make brilliant pets
I was just wondering if guinea pigs need help at all during birth? Is there anyway to help a mom while shes delivering? I just wanted to know if there was a way to m it eaisier for her..
@lilweirdo805 The best thing is to let them get on with it, if they do hit any problems then your vet is the best person to help as they are so small :)
Wow i no guinea pigs are small but ive never real lized there newborn babies are the size of a fulll grown mouse that would be like at lab giving birth to a full grown chiwawa yeah cant spell cute tho
@yes4fiona Hi, yes they can drink water within the first couple of days, don't worry the bottle was lowered the next day for them, if you look on the video you will see a wire loop close to the tube, the bottle lowered down to that so they could reach :)
So cute -- looks like the Mama was trying to pull the babies out of her vag***. She is certainly very flexible! Amazing instinct these critters have to automatically clean up the children's blood and eat the placenta.
ANYONE GOT ANY ADVICE HERE? what the hell am i doing my guinea pig is pregnant and is about to pop!!!! ive separated her from my other 3 pigs, what do i do next
@VitaSmithyx Hi, just make sure she feels safe and is in a quiet place then just let her get on with it, you can watch from a distance, hope all goes well and you have some lovely babies :)
@VitaSmithyx look sweety ull just put a towel under the place ur puting her on and she will take her time dont touch the babies let her do every thing dont touch the momor the babies 4 1 week or they may be at risk my guineapig is pregnant and i went to a doctor and that is the doctors advices so follow them

@ellen998music Hi, it was luck really, I just happened to be there when she started so I quietly got the camera and zoomed it in so that I didn't have to get too close, as I didn't want to upset her, good luck with yours hope all goes well and you manage to see it :-)
@ellen998music Hi how do you know the exact week that your guinea pig is, I have a pregnant guinea pig but not sure when she will be giving birth and would like to try to find out?
@robloxfan1st Hi, Not sure what would happen as I have never done it as I wouldn't want her to get pregnant again. but from books etc it says he can attack the young, I suppose it depends on the male and his temprement, not a risk I would be willing to take to be honest.
@susieponies i've had mice before and the male WILL eat the newborn pups. idk why he just will. it happened before with my mice. then we realized the male mouse was trying to eat the newborn. you would want to wait until the newborns are eating dry food and what not. :)
@rizwatcher Hi, Yes I would take the male away as soon as you know she is pregnant, he will mate her again, straight after having the babies and you don't want that, she needs a good rest between litters.
@vsamway Hi, she will get a lot fatter and her tummy will be low to the ground, try not to pick her up too much as she becomes very pregnant, if you do make sure you support her tummy. she should be fine but just keep an eye from a distance, don't pester her once she starts to give birth in case you stress her. good luck :)
