I liked Phil Hendrie when he was against Al Qaeda. He is not that person anymore. He spent 2 solid weeks of not doing schtick after 9.11.01 and it was good to hear him vent that we need to get bin laden and stop al qaeda. He is not in Sacramento and never was, but it is so difficult to hear him because of the back stage pass subscription that one needs to hear him. The economy sucks and I feel bad that he has gained so much weight. He is very gifted and arrogant. He was great on KFI.
Phil is not a centrist at all. He is very pro Iraq war, but he is extremely Liberal on everything else. The fact that he believes in pretty much open borders, single-payer healthcare, and abortion on demand, I would say makes him more Liberal than most Libs I know.
@ebeatworld I never heard him support open borders. He is also a supporter of the 2nd ammendment. I would say he IS a centrist (which is refreshing for talk-radio). He sure was during Bush's years.
Not taking a side nor do I care what your side is... just pointing out that we have a clear record here of "conservative" hosts taking cheap shots at their opponents in what is supposed to be a mature debate, causing it to go nowhere and wasting time like politics naturally does. What exactly does it do for your side when you defend childish interruptions of someone else who has the floor and not allowing a point to be finished? I thought "liberals" were supposed to be the mudslingers here.
Radio is only for entertainment and important information. There are very few great radio personalities like Phil Hendrie, Johnny B, ect. If your good at radio then you will get commercial support that pays well. Before TV, radio gave us imagination like books do today. We all know Phil is Fake 80-20 of the time but what makes the political news 100% reality? Satire and imagination is entertaining 100% of the time. Who has not ever thought what Phil's make believe personalities look like?
Phil Hendrie is far from smug. Simply, he's calling people out for trying to be more then they actually are. I would agree, he does down-play other people's talents, and might seem to be a little self-approved, but, let's face it, he's not only entertaining, but, informative.
All of these people say whatever needs to be said to create controversy, and that's their job. Phil is the best a satire of all of them, and himself for that matter. You may not like the man, but he's pure talent 100%.
I'm just not into Phil's giant ego. There are lots of people in this biz who aren't egomaniacs. My dear friend and former colleague Jim Bohannon, for instance...

Steve Malzberg rules. Phil Hendrie's lame show is only him doing unfunny imitations, so he shouldn't even be up there with them discussing the issue. Hendrie isn't successful, Malzberg is huge in NYC.
Polhist: I cannot stand Phil Hendrie. I saw him at another event a couple of years ago. There was a poster of him. He walked by me and pointed "That's me." I simply ignored him. A-hole.
@polhist Hendrie blows all of them away. He's a fucking genius. You guys are probably those dumb ass regular callers to talk shows. "Thanks for having me on Sean, I really enjoy your show.... blah blah fucking blah. Infact I bet you have called into the Phil Hendrie show thinking it was real!!! LOL

Phil is in a league of his own. There is no comparison because he provides a different product. Some of these folks are wise. He's smart and funny.

I don't always agree with Phil's endorsement of Obama, but the man has made me laugh harder than anyone else and many many times!
