  • I guess its true...ull alWayz gonna think u suc..i can do that lil intro he did for hours..but I still think I suck¡!

  • @project25012 you can also do that as well?

  • Thank you for this video really helpful

  • Thanks for the tips

  • awsome vid it really helped... is that a gibson clovus behind you?

  • awesome guide

  • good lesson

  • 4:05 sounds like fade to black

  • @distortedchild88 yup , Kirk did use that

  • Good stuff!

  • dont forget you can tap with your pick!:)

  • Why does my B string sounds like s**t o.o

  • Good stuff! Thank you for sharing.

  • can u teach us how to incorporate these into solos?

  • very meticulously. If you want to incorperate it into a solo you have to know the meter and chord structure. Here's what I do. Learn your chords n the piano. Make a chord progression that works. ex... in c, pickup measure, try g g7 am bm and c in the new measure. Break up these chords and have only one note out of the chord at a time max. Decide on a meter. this guy did 3 beat, but four is just as easy. Just hammer on with your left pinky before returning to the top note.

  • If you are making solos, there is some trial and error there, but if there wasn't it wouldn't be an art. As a general rule, I have found if it doesn't sound good at 120 notes per minute, it's not worth the time and effort of perfecting. Good luck!

  • Great video!

  • this help a lot, I was having trouble jumping strings, like taping on the 3rd 4th or 5th strings, I kept ringing out other notes, but I think I got it now.

  • kurt hemmit.....

    you mean kirk hammett?

  • Your amazing,I'll buy your dvd

  • thanks so much dude this really helped me out as a guitarist

  • rofl 1:50

  • Thank you for sharing. Good stuff!

  • love your PRS

  • 2:00 why would you say "I'm just going to play an A Aeolian, or C Major scale" when you can just say "I'm just going to play an A Minor scale"?

  • 1:50 lmao

  • extreme lame alert at 1:50!!!

  • he was playing first part of the one solo

  • the aeolian scale on the 12th fret was part of fade to black.

  • accualy thats tapping on the 19 and 20 frets(the one solo) this was pretty much a lower version of it but with some variation

  • if i practice daily during three weeks maybe a month i would be able to do that =)

  • Its way easier than it looks dude, id say youd get it in a day

  • it's still need to much cordination but yeah maybe in a day

  • no its way to easy

  • ya its reeally really easy

  • 0:17 what's that face? lol

  • could u also use the 12th position for tapping with your right hand and use ur left hand at the fifth fret? of a mino pentatonic

  • this helped me soooo much =D

  • nice lesson when you comeing back to new jersey dave

  • great men...its big help 4 me..thanks.....

  • evh is the worlds best at tapping

  • PRS guitars kick ass, but Schecters are better! Any who, a decent lesson. Good job

  • some eddy van halen.. ,, eddy invented it douch

  • tapping has been around since classical times, he recreated it.

  • Yea you are correct. Many guitarist were tapping before Eddie, such as Ace Frehley of Kiss and Brian May of Queen. Eddie just built on what guitarists like this had started.

  • EVH holds his pick with his middle finger and his thumb so he can tap.

  • hey, i love tapping when im just trying to show off but when i do it, an dthen i stop i hear that some of the lower strings vibrate even though i didnt touch them im guessing i just move the guitar to much but any help to stop this? thanks

  • i know what you mean, i had the same problem with lower srings cuz is supposed that your right hand gets the strings muted when tapping but it can't reach the lower strings when you do the transition from 6th to 5th to 4th for example, i use the wrist area of my arm and then use the palm to mute. Takes some practice but it works pretty good

  • David, how should i set my amp/effects for a good tapping lead/solo. When i try to tap using my finger it doesnt come out very powerful. With my pick its a bit better but still not as powerful as i want it. The action on my Ibanez is low fyi.

  • i had the same problem what amp are you usin?

  • Gallien Krueger 112LC ( guitar combo amp)

its alright, has two channels but only one EQ but i cannot get any distortion whatsoever on this amp.

  • i used to think tapping as a more advanced and outta this world technique.....bt now i can do it myself!!!

    luv ya man.....

  • wicked lesson. dude what guitar is that your using?

  • In this lesson I am using a paul reed smith american made CE electric

    rock on!

    DT

  • The "you can do it!" at 06:09 looks and sounds really funny. but this Lesson is without a doubt very very very good. it helped me alot

  • sitting here, trying to learn, kinda hard, but I'm getting it now! :D

  • pulling up with my right finger tapping seems more comfortable but whats the overall difference?

  • well it makes it easier to hit the lower strings if you play up and sometimes you might not get a loud enough pulloff

  • Brilliant.. thanks from Wales UK. ;)

  • thanks for this, btw whats ur gain on?

  • you can actually keep the pick in your hand lol just to point dat out you dun have to put it in your mouth lol

cos if you play like corey bealieu like him strumming his hand looks like a square...! squeeze the pick in between you pointer finger joing and your thumbs then you can use your 1st and 2nd finger cos i can use 2 lol...!

  • Great vid. Thanks!

  • Dude this really new for me iam just 13 and need some help with guitar.

Wow ty for 1 understand lesson!

  • this video seriosuly helps you, youve got to watch this!

  • cool make it real simple

  • I can only do that with first and second string or wth all of them?

  • my only problem with this is my pointer finger keeps sliding off the neck.

  • YOU CAN DO IT!

  • PLZ DAVE PLZ PITCH HARMONICS LESSON PLZ I can´t get it please

  • Hi - I have a pinch harmonics lesson posted on youtube - check all my vids - its the zack wilde inspired - check it out

    rock on!

    DT

  • Theres something i never figure out.

How do you know that like on 02:51 one note is called the C note?

Please make a video for it :)

  • ??? its just the notes across the fretboard like in western music there are 12 notes and across the guitar the notes are gonna b made up of those 12 notes. knowing the notes is like the most important thing and david has many videos on them

  • Memorizing, the C note is on the 8th fret of the low E and the 8th on the high E string. Same thing with A, A is on the 5th fret of the low E and the 5th fret of the high E. Just memorizing :)

  • once you've been playing for 4 months or so, u'll start being able to name ur notes along the fret instantly. dont worry dude

  • Because the 8th fret on the e-string is a C note ;)

  • ur jus great.........

  • dude, please please please tell me whats that solo is from!!! u rule so much i cant beleive it

  • not all the way sure, but isnt it van halen

  • Thanks a lot! this is the easiest guide and the most helpful :)

  • around 6:35 it sounded like the solo to "one" by metallica he' i listen to them alot

  • its a very easy tapping lick

  • 4:05-4:08 sounds exactly like fade to black by metallica;just goes to show how good you guys at TNLG are 5/5 stars bro!

  • haha when i first watched this video i thought it was:

    5h9h12 on the high e

  • NICE guitar

  • wow ive only been playing guitar for 3 days... im a lefty player and your videos have taught me more in 3 days than my damn teacher did in 2 hours... lol .. im already getting decent speed on this tapping

  • not bad but not very fast and u make some mistakes i think

  • I pick tap.

I reccomend the .88 green tortex pick from dunlop for picktapping.

  • i agree with codycoxnbo i want lesson on how to play eruption

  • yeahhhhhh!

  • Love your lessons guys!

  • o preferdoing this sequence: 12 - 5 - 8 to tap. Eddie van halen actually does this for eruption. If you slow it down enough youll see he does tap, release, hammer on. instead of 3 pulloffs. i think it sounds better and is easier to do.

  • u guys are awesome ..... ROCK ON!

  • Dave..brilliant as usual...what is the guitar? PRS?....cheers mate

  • yes, thats a paul reed smith CE I play in that video lesson. I bought it new in Philadelphia around 1997 or so
