Qu'il a des tics, qu'il cite celui-ci et celui-ci là, qu'il nous fait la leçon, qu'il se croit ceci ou cela... (...) je ne voyais qu'une chose, une seule, et c'est que c'était beau. D'une beauté surhumaine. (...) Ce qu'on voit pendant deux heures: il faudrait dire de ce défilé d'images qu'il est, qu'elles sont simplement sublimes.

That chap Belmondo is ugly enough, but he is kind of sexy! As for the film, I think it is great, only you shouldn't understand it as a lineal narrative, otherwise you wouldn't not grasp its real meaning. There are many elements besides the story itself, such as colors, camera movements and the very bewilderment we experience when whe watch it. This is avant-garde, so what could we expect besides perplexitiy?
