Iron and Wine is a revelation for this Generation. Thank God there are still a few out there who write at the very least, decent music, unlike this mainstream bull shit. I love this music. The melody, tone, voice and lyrics. (:

Either way, the overarching moral of the story is that life is so short. We think our days are endless, when really, they aren't. A passing afternoon (ie affair, whatever) that slips away from us can really be substantial. The question is, do we live our life to the fullest in our "endless" numbered days, or take care and make responsible deliberate decisions?

I know everyone has a different opinion on what it means, but what I think it is that there's a married woman with children, but one day had an affair with the narrator. However, she goes back to being moral and continues back to her family life and being a wife, but doesn't feel the same towards her husband. She hears about him every so often, and she is reminded of him. The last lyric could mean two things, either that we are all babies and scared and lonely, or the narrator is the father.

My mum died when I was 6, and parts of this song remind me of her and all that she suffered through. She loved to garden and be outside. It makes me cry sometimes when I listen to it, but it's wonderful.

This song helped me get over my ex-fiance who ditched me. Simple words that put things into perspective...noone wants someone who doesn't want to be there. It made letting her go infinitely easier. If anyone feels like they are in the same position...listen to this tune...my best suggestion is to let it all go. Life goes on and you gotta actually let it all go before it can. People are a lot tougher and more resilient than they give themselves credit for!!

I've downloaded a whole album and listened to them by turn. And this is the one that stood out and caught me so tightly . It makes sense to me, both with and without the lyric.I feel his melody alone isn't the type of catchy one, but when he began to sing, everything's there. I love his voice, and I think no one can get better covers of all his songs than himself. His vocal is the best for his songs.
