I think it would be OK, if Anette trained up her headvoice more classically, but only if she used it for some parts that she sings with her light modern headvoice now. For the stronger parts I still prefer her belt voice, and always will. :)

Berate me all you want, but I like this "acoustic" version of Nemo more than the original...especially with Anette. Tarja could keep up with the metal version...but with a different singer, they needed to tweak things. Anette has come a long way since she started with the band :)

THese are Thoumas's songs or better yet, these are NIGHTWISH songs. I just cant STAND when people say "THis or that are TARJA's song," I mean really, if she wrote some then fine but all she did was sing, yes they were written for her vocals but they are NOT HER SONGS!!!!

So as a result the songs are, in effect, Tarja's songs at least in the sense that they were written specifically for her style of singing, which makes my point quite valid.

the nightwish concert was great but not Epic, so many songs doesn't fit in a metal festival.

the public was ok and happy with the band, but they've lost their epicness but not for The Anette's performance she was great, the only problem was the set-list, pretty similar in both concerts nothing special but was a great show without the epicness .

I believe that they should stop performing Wish I had an angel (kinda repetitive and poppy, but still okay, but cliche), Nemo, Over the hills and far away and put Rest Calm, The crow, the owl and the dove, and The Escapist. I have heard Anette's lyric voice and as a classical singer myself I have to say that it's very good. I wish she would train it to sing old songs. But I think Tarjaholics will get mad. Remember that metal expands in diff ways.

Glad this video got posted, but it really doesn't do this song justice. I was there live, and with the Gibson's great acoustics, this was absolutely brilliant. Emppu needs to be featured more prominently in NW's next album. He had some in Imaginaerum, but he deserves so much more with his talent.

@musikmood I guarantee that this is not "the first time in the history of the metal scene that a band doesn't play songs off their first four albums." Iron Maiden played only their new album and four older songs for one tour, and Paradise Lost refuses to play their old songs at all--I witnessed that in person. If you want first-album-heavy setlists, be sure to check out Sonata Arctica live. Plus, they could always adjust the setlist according to crowd reaction.

Nightwish as they are now have a heavier sound, more experimentation in songs, Marco as a regular vocalist, and a far more versatile lead vocalist with Anette. They aren't a completely different band than they were with Angels Fall First, but Imaginaerum does represent them NOW better than any other album.

@musikmood the setlist seems enjoyable. its part of the imaginaerum tour so there will always be a lot of songs from that album. when the full tour begins the older songs will be back in. the likes of wishmaster, dead to the world etc will come back but it was great to see them perform planet hell and over the hills again. if anything it shows anette's real capability to sing those songs. if you're a fan you'll go to the show and enjoy it regardless of the setlist anyway

If you had experienced these songs live--and not on some mediocre-quality YouTube video--you would understand that the crowd gets the biggest kick out of the very songs you are tired of. I'll admit I'm not a big fan of Amaranth or the Siren, but experiencing those songs live--that changes everything. What's "not good" is that you say you like Nightwish, then bash them because they don't play YOUR favorites.

I read in an interview with Tuomas that it was Anette's idea to perform this song acoustic since the entire band had grown tired of performing the original arrangement and wanted to drop it from the setlist. Good thing they listened to her! I love this version!

@94mav98 This also shows that Anette actually does her share in influencing the bands decisions. If I have understood it correctly, Tarja never participated any rehearsals or bands internal matters. She only sang the songs and thats it. Great to hear the band working well together!

This was one of the many show-stopping moments last night--I LOVE this arrangement and everyone's performances. Anette was amazing, I LOVED Tuomas's new piano part (especially the beginning) and Emppu's solo was so gorgeous~ Never realized he could play classic guitar so beautifully. The notes sounded like drops of crystal or something.
