  • Sounds good! How does this compare to Electro Harmonix Metal Muff? I'd give the MM the edge due to the TOP BOOST switch (but I've not compared the 2)...

  • where i can buy this pedal in Poland??

  • the effect is actually fit for trasher!

  • wondering? i have a an mxr108 e.q. it is armed with a gain control. if i buy this vm will that mxr hinder the signal or turn it to mud with that low flop? thats what i dont want i want to achieve a ton of distortion but keep a nice tight low end with a swept mid ton. Is this possible or should i just leave the eq to the pedal itself?

  • @youngleechow: The sound you describe is exactly what the VM does and it has gain galore so I suggest putting the EQ after the VM to raise the level when soloing. You can use it to further shape the sound but won't need it for this purpose. I don't expect it to get muddy because the VM has a very well defined thrashy low end; I am sure you'll love it.

  • how much does it cost???

  • Is this mainly a shred pedal?

Does this pedal do drop-tuned sludge rythm guitar well? The drop tuned LP-through-Mesa sound of Isis and such bands.

And how well does this thing do chords? Im looking for a hi gain metal pedal that does chords well, as well.

Other than that, I liked the sound. Im pending between this and the g2d Morpheus.

  • The VM loves drop tuning and does chords with great definition and power, you'll love it!

  • I love this pedal. But now I'm trying to get a crunchy overdrive sound out of it. How do you suppose I do that? Overdrive stompboxes is not good enough and I don't want to spend on another distortion pedal.

  • Allthough it is allmost impossible to get "vintage" with the VM as takes no prisoners, you can get closer by trying the following settings: Gain 1 or 2 (out of 10), Low and Mid 7 (2 o'clock), Freq 2 (9 o'clock) to boost the lower mids and make it smoother, Hi about 5, Volume set to balance clean. Of course you will have to alter these setting to match your other gear but it should be a good starting point and should work until you can get the MOEN Overdrive which is the real deal for crunch.

  • Tnx man.. will do...

  • I just bought the MOEN Violent metal and it ROCKS!! I'm a metalhead and i love that raw and mean sound from it !! Really cheap for what you got, ir's a killer hi gain distortion pedal !!

  • How good would this sound on bass?

  • I got this pedal, and at first I was in love with it! But now I can't seem to dial in a satisfying tone :( I don't doubt it's because I'm now trying it on a 100w Peavey amp, cuz in my opinion this amp sux. I also use a 7 string, and I really like the tone here. Give me a clue to his settings?

  • Hi drs (MOEN have asked me to answer your question), I can't remember the exact setting but the they gotta have been somewhat like Low 7 (of 10), Hi on 5 or a bit higher, Dist on 6, Level adjusted to balance with clean and Mid scooped out just a little bit. The key to adjust the VM to an amp is the parametric mids control that allows you to either boost a Freq you like or cut one that you don't want emphasized. Keep shredding!

  • Thank you sir! I didn't truly expect a response, so this was great! I recently just bought 3 of your songs from Law Of The Jungle (thanx to this video posted) I like your style and use of a 7-string. I just started to pick mine up about 2 months ago.

I recently applied the BOSS EQ pedal to my setup, so I get a great clean, but this wrecks havoc with trying to find the dist I'm lookin for, ESP due to the fact that I tuned a 7string to emulate an 8. It's real low, and nothing I do sounds right...
