  • see its like that - like a Dungeon Dragon

  • Wonder how much he was payed by bunch of nerd to say all this.

  • Is this show still on ? I love it.

  • I dont know why i care, but i wonder if he still plays

  • I like this side of Vin Diesel!

  • one of us

  • this is similar to my situation at an art college now. Im studying digital arts so animation, concept art, 3d modeling etc. and we got this class where we pretty much just do improv. for like 3 hours a week. Now at first I was thinking, "are you serious.. this is the lamest course ever" But a couple weeks later I can honestly say it's made me more comfortable speaking in public, expressing my thoughts and even getting a better grasp on how to draw characters knowing expressions. D&D seems similar

  • Video games suck! You can't do whatever you want in them. You can only do what the game permits you to do. Where's the creativity and imagination there?! It's not there. Therefore, there is no comparison! AT ALL!

  • It still plays fucking amazing. That's how it plays now.

  • I Have Some Vin Diesel Clips Uploaded If Ya Want Head Over To My Channel For Movie Scenes,Instrumentals,Gaming And Much More..You Might Like What You See..

  • vin needs to play ddo

  • where is hte full version of this_

  • "I don't know how D&D would play now in an age of technology."

    Skyrim

    lol

  • Actors make the best gamers.

  • Vin Diesel is adorable

  • The nice thing about Pen and Paper based games is that they are timeless -- they still play great because the are not dependent on technology unlike computer games that looked "dated" in 10 years.

  • @michaeltube4u I'm just putting this out there, but after months of sticking with our character sheets being on paper, we transferred them into Excel and it became a million times easier to keep track of them. Technology does in fact influence even pen and paper, but in a decent way. We still have out character sheets on paper for some things, though.

  • @VampiraFairie Err, and by 'we', I mean my general group of gamers.

  • @michaeltube4u A classic video game will still be good in ten years, just like a classic pen-and-paper game will. One of my favourite games ever is Deus Ex and its graphics looked dated even at its time of release. Same with System Shock 2, same with Startopia, same with Thief.

You seem to be implying that graphics aren't what make a game good - and you're right in more ways than you realise.

  • Man, it's really cool to see that it really seems to make him happy talking about it. Inner child unlocked, anyone?

  • Vin Diesel is the shit!

Too bad he wasn't in the LOTR movies, he would have made a great addition.

  • Not surprising for a guy who auditioned for the role of LOTR's Aragorn.

  • vin diesel a bouncer lmao what gay club was that sorry i cant see his short untrained self throwing a 6'3''230 lb guy out of a club

  • to all you people who beat up others who played D&D or ignored them, look at the biggest player and try to tell him of

  • tell him hes a loser...i FUCKING DARE YOU.

  • @flamegamereview

I would rather eat shit :)

  • My god, he's so calm... So collected. So excited, as well! He's not just an amazing actor, but a wonderful person, as well.

  • Dude, I would KILL to game with Vin Diesel!

  • He plays Warhammer as well.

  • Okay, just wow. Vin Diesel was probably one of my favorite actors, and is really a role model for me, but now it's on a completely differant level; Hearing that he plays Dungeons and Dragons is like hearing that Spartacus liked reading. It gives a brand new light to being a cross between a badass on the outside, and a gigantic nerd on the inside. NERDS UNITE!

  • I have a newfound respect for vin diesel. He went from a 0/10 in my book to a 2/10. movies are stil shit tho.

  • I'm a youth from the age of technology and I would rather imagine and create with my friends than stare at some glowing screen any day, and I know a lot of people my age that feel the same way. I think DnD would fair well with kids if they were introduced to it.

  • @Evilfetus15 Have to agree you. Heck I role play in a different style though. We subsituted soccers and knights for super heroes and villains from different series like Marvel or DC. We make story videos about them and make fan art for our characters. We have good time and enjoy ourselves. Video games are fun but every now and then I just like to come up with a good story and role play.

  • @lastswordfighter I love that idea, hahah. I would love to play a dnd style super hero villian game. And I like playin video games (I've been playing WoW since vanilla and enjoy elder scrolls games very much aswell was bioware rpgs) but there is nothing like rolling dice with good friends.

  • @Evilfetus15 It doesn't matter whether it's done with dice or videos. We all have a good time because we are among friends and fellow role players. It's all about having fun and creating ideas and stories.

  • this was before...VIDEO GAMES

  • Get up in his face and tell him Dungeons and Dragons is a shit game, I dare you!

  • can i marry him now lol this is so awesome!!! people make fun cuz i play but now i can be like VIN DIESEL PLAYS BITCHES

  • @Jessiemckay3 don't feel bad, Everyone secretly plays.

  • i bet he plays WoW.

  • @joeyasaperson He does lol

  • they should make a dungeons and dragons movie with him

  • Comment removed

  • D&D in the age of technology? Check out Dungeons and Dragons Online. Been playing it for a few months and it taught me more about the pen and paper version D&D than trying to memorize everything in the official rulebook as if I was studying it as a University subject.

  • When Vin Diesel plays a Wizard, he still has a higher attack bonus and AC than your Barbarian.

  • @Andreus I disagree with you slightly. Clearly he would be able to where light armor without the chance of arcane spell failure, not that his AC would be higher than that of the standard Wizard. Totally agree about the base attack though.

  • @Estrodile Vin Diesel's base attack bonus is Natural 20.

  • @Andreus At what level!? Maybe level 15 & up.

  • This is why he is the sexiest guy in Hollywood! You can talk geek to him, and still be all like "Frak! Look at that body!" Je je je!

  • Dudes a barbarian. am i right?

  • Vin Diesel is the fucking man.

  • Thumbs up if you saw the dude in the blue button up lean back and heard a fart noise at 1:04

  • Vin is the toughest nerd alive. DnD and owns a goddamn vidya game company...

  • I started playing D&D after having played video games alot and I prefer D&D to video games any time!

  • is this the whole interview or just a small clip from it?

  • people don't care for 4e and personally i don't care for it either, but that's why our group switched to Pathfinder. 3.5 rules with a fewchanges, it's great. main Pathfinder Society character is an Andoran faction lvl 7 Elf Alchemist almost lvl 8 and he is a badass. For a non-society game such as Carrion Crown adventure path, I play a 4th lvl Dwarf Ranger almost 5th who is a blacksmith and he can kill undead pretty well. For those that are fed up with 4e go to the ever awesome pathfinder! 8D

  • @Katanawa55 Gotta agree wth you about 4th edition and pathfinder though currently my groups playing deadlands which is just so awsome

  • @drake2023 heh well I started with 4e because I was a bit late in getting into D&D. And it was fun for a while, made it to lvl 21, playing an assassin. But they eventually chagned too many rules. Once started PF, there was no going back xD.

  • @Katanawa55 Well my biggest peeve was the fact that 4th edition battles take way to long where as 3.5 edition we could battle in half the time heck even a boss battle would take half the time a normal battle in 4th fight would take also in my opinion the role play element was kinda weak in 4th

  • @drake2023 I agree with you on that one. they wanted to focus more on pidgeonholding classes to where they were more balanced and equal to each other. Though it didn't work very well =/

  • @Katanawa55 Agreed

  • @drake2023 Well my biggest peeve was the fact 4th editions battles take way to long where as 3rd editions we would have a battle heck even a boss battle and it wouldnt take half the time to me playing 4th edition was like playing final fantasy tactics but on pen and paper

  • Awesome. D&D will always rules. Well, 2nd Ed, and mostly 3 and 3.5

  • A very well spoken man -- obviously for him, D&D meant more than just a mere hobby, as it allowed him to `practice' and `train' in acting and have fun at the same time --- now he is an actor & screenwriter!

  • The idea that there is ANYONE out there who doesn't know about D&D is just baffling to me.

  • wow......YEEEEAAAAAH!

  • I wanna play DND now

  • 20 + of gaming, after watching this never going to give it up!!! go rpg's!!!

  • Omg He was hot before! But now that he plays D&D he is SOOOOOO much hotter!!! <3

  • he never has to make a saving throw to get a role :P

  • I wonder if he'd play Neverwinter Nights.

  • @mcgibs It was possible for me. I started out in Baldur's Gate. You probably know how FAR of a trip it is from Baldur's Gate to Neverwinter! If I can hump a distance that far, I don't see how Vin Diesel can't lol.

  • He is surprisingly eloquent and enthusiastic. He seems like such a fun dude.

  • I have a new found respect for him. My buddies and brother-in-law and I play D&D every Sunday still and we love it. We meet at my bro's house, our wives and girlfriends (yes we have them) go hanf out downstairs and cook for us, while we drink whisky and beer and play D&D upstairs. It is some of the most fun we have.

  • @irishone21 I hear you brother. Keep up a good job, be yourself. Fuck the rest.

  • I'm 27 years old, I've been playing with 3 of my childhood friends since we were 13 and we still play one time a month, now with lots of redwine and cooking together - It's still awesome. Always find the room to play guys, that goes for you too Vin, even if you're a grown up and you have a career and a family, playing is important, never stop =)

  • @Elariuz God Bless you, my fellow nerd brethren! I am 25, and until recent times, I used to hide the fact that I am deep in to AD&D. I used to lie to my "cooler" friends and to my girlfriends, hiding my hand books and maps from them. And my gaming life was like a curse that I was ashamed of. I tried to quit 3 times, for about 8 month period, but I could not help myself and would start again. So I decided to be myself forever, and never hide my real self. I even hooked my muscled work out brothe

  • He should make some deep voice relaxation tapes.

  • 4 ppl got their character stabbed

  • That really was heart warming

  • I can answer his last comment of "I don't know how dungeons and dragons would play now in an age of technology" with two word... "VERY WELL!!!"

  • I want to try d&d, it sounds pretty fun. The only problem is i cant find anyone to play it with...

  • @Shaboostein it happens to me too, do you know what I do? I try to get people to play while I´m directing the game. Dough I´s like to play as a PC sometime...

  • @Shaboostein If you can get ahold of the books and familiarize yourself with the rules, there's a huge number of groups on play-by-post sites like rpol.

  • The guys who are interviewing him are like:

we didn't have Dungeons and Dragons in our days, we were entertaining ourselfs with cave drawings and hunting Saber toothed cats.

  • Diesel fans, admit it. Vin Diesel, being the man he is, playing D&D as avidly and as lovingly as he does, just makes him all the more badass. I don't mean to be offensive to anyone who thinks I've got an angry tone as I say this (not intentional if it seems so XD), but I do mean to ask, can you guys watch this and not smile? People used to say D&D is for geeks, so either Vin Diesel is one epic geek, or D&D is a top-grade training ground for our imaginations. :)

  • @Ouroburos14 I think its safe to say that a person who is an actor loves to play other roles, so there would really be no suprise in Vin Diesel playing D&D but still since he always plays such a badass (is) and D&D always seemed to be geeked out, it is suprising. However it just goes to show that no matter how much of a badass you are you will always have hobbies. Its like the rock when he started singing and playing guitar haha

  • @Ouroburos14 I got two things to put out there having read this.

    1. Who said being a Geek was a bad thing?! :P

    2. Will Wheaton is a Geek. See above.

:P Sure, D&D might be for geeks. Sure that might make Vin Diesel a geek... he's still a badass.

  • @Ouroburos14 Vin Diesel is just a geek.

  • @Ouroburos14 Geeks can be tough too *wimpers and hides behind sofa* lol

    GEEKS FTW VIN DIESEL FTW!!!

  • If you guys like D&D then you will definitely looove this webseries called Walking In Cirlces! Its an epic adventure about dragons n stuff! Check it out if you get some time! youtube/wictheseries

  • SO MUCH BASS IN HIS VOICE

  • im kinda surprised he plays D&D... but who wouldnt be surprised? lol ... awesome vin diesel!! i always thought he's a.. fps kinda guy LOL

  • :D He's so cool.

  • isnt vin diesel gay

  • @dontmesswiththefess No is that a failed troll attempt, yes? Fuck off bro.

  • I love vin diesel so much more thanks to this video

  • Ah, Vin Diesel just got way more badass in my book.

  • he says he doesnt know how D&D would work now, there r still people that play it but sadly the numbers are shrinking. we must make a comeback for nerds everywhere!

  • @kado51393 Fuck ya we must

    .

  • Whenever I see Vin Diesel, I always think of the Fast & Furious.

But yeah, amazing what you learn about an actor

  • He's right D&D is awesome and if you think about it, it is an art. The game you play is a basically a novel, or a fantasy action movie (lol) just played out in your head. I play it I've been playing it most of my life actually, my dad taught my how to, and my friends have been playing it on and off for a while now. I mean it's an awesome game and it's so cool to make these characters and see what happens, to play them and see what they do. I really hope more people try it after watching this.

  • @7h3m41n94m3 Some of the games can even extend to series and beyond. I've been playing D&D for about 3 or 4 maybe 5 years ( lost track), with my brother. We've got our first characters, and we've got the great-grandkids of those characters. In addition to two 'evil' groups, the reincarnation of the first group, and... some failed groups.

I'm now just rambling on and on....

  • Yea Vin! Melkor lives!!!

  • I'd say it plays just fine in this age of technology. :) One of my favorite pastimes with my friends.

  • @Foxylady87

lucky my friends hate mmorpgs hate board games

  • Wow, this is an inspiration for us nerds everywhere. TT_TT

  • Neverwinter Nights.

  • "I don't know how D&D would play now, in an age of technology." World of Warcraft.

  • @666Holyfail D&D and World of Warcraft are both in a fantasy setting but WoW has nothing to give to the player regarding developing yourself as a person compared to D&D. WoW demands nothing of the player in when it comes to imagination and creativity. It's just fast food that you eat while watching an action flick.

  • @666Holyfail

I think he actually plays a bit, same with Baldur's gate 2, WoW's a lot more linear than D&D though.

  • @666Holyfail D&D plus technology is awesome, all my manuals are now loaded onto my kindle and my laptop :) :)

  • you know what, i bet hes so into D&D that hes still in character up to know,

  • this man got me into D&D

  • my respect for vin diesel just broke the limit of respect

  • DnD was the first game I played and the first one I GMed. I'm not that found of the game itself anymore, but the memories of it is very dear and just paging trough my "old" 3.5 edition books makes me warm inside.

  • Vin makes me feel all bubbly and warm on the inside when he talks about D&D.

  • Don't fuck with

    Vin Diesel

  • Knowing that Vin Diesel plays D&D and enjoyed it, goes to show that some actors are normal like the rest of us. That is just awesome. I miss playing the game myself, can't get a group going. Though it begs the question, how cool would it have been to play D&D with this guy?

  • @TygersPanther9881

What do you mean "some actors are normal?" Keep in mind, they may be famous, but they're still lowly humans like the rest of us.

  • @TygersPanther9881 how cool would it have been to play D&D with this guy?

    It would've been A BIG A** HONOR!!

  • @TygersPanther9881 Him as a wizard, would be awesome bro!

  • @TygersPanther9881 Well actually with some slight modifications to rules, you can very easily play it via text chat, just get some random fantasy world map up from google images, find a dice rolling site (they exist, and aren't that hard to find, i've used one) and your set. Theres also some online programs that you can use too, like Fantasy grounds or OpenRPG.

  • the guys hes talkin too dont dare to laugh haha

  • lol hahahaha ah vin diesel you big softy :P

  • He's such a dork in real life, and I'm not talking about playing D&D.

  • I am Vergan, a leval 9 assassin who is half human, half orc!

  • the name is Hunter 14 and i lovs D&D

  • WHAT THE HELL... HE AINT SO FAST AND FURIOUS...

  • Just goes to show how -different- actors/actresses are in real life compared to characters they generally portray. It's awesome. An actor with a DnD background makes sense, actually, since they generally have large imaginations needed to act out a character.

  • I always thougth that i was at least nerdiest than Vin Diesel, now my world is crushed.

  • His face is so red in the beginning, then he takes the deepest breath I've ever seen somebody take and realizes "Oh wait, I make a lot of money and I'm ripped as shit."

  • Where can i find the witch hunter class? I rlly want to make a charecter of it!

  • @AtoningStone

You could just homebrew it. The game I play in, we homebrew nearly everything, but everything has to be ok'd by 3/5 majority of our players. We don't want a Munchkin.

  • I didn't realize he was so articulate. He should check out dragon age :)

  • Vin diesel is more of a nerd than me lol

  • VIN DIESEL JUST GOT AWESOME

  • what actually is dungeons and dragons? a board game?

  • @comeondown12345 ye, but you don't really need the set, thats just spending extra money. You just need a rule book, someone to make up a campaign, loads of paper and people to play it. But Its more fun with the sets themselfs

  • I share the reaction to Vin Diesel's awesome description of DND: B'aawwwwwwwwwwwww :D

  • vin diesel is awesome.

  • Obviously it doesn't play out very well in the modern computer/video game era. Sales of DnD are in the toilet. It is the late 70s and 80s gamers that still haul all the books and dice around with character sheets and pencils that play this game. But, usually only in first or the initial second edition. Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro still haven't caught on to that yet. We are not going to reinvest more money into the new since our old game is still as good as ever since we made it that way

  • @deguello66 Nonetheless with the help of the internet there is no point in actually buying the hard copy editions of any of the books. Every book can be downloaded online. Nonetheless there are also internet applications that allow you to roll any die as needed rather than even buy them, it can be completely virtual the world of DND. And kids today completely entrance with PS3 and Xbox; there isn't really any way for old-fashioned games like these to even compete.

  • He makes a great point, acting is about imagination. The problem with all the crappy shows we got now is that these "actors" never trained their imagination.

  • awesome sauce

  • ...

    :l

How did this guy get cooler?!

He breached the maximum levels and just... <3

  • I actually never saw an interview of this guy or even ever heard him talk in english before this (I watched some of his movies in my native language) and I'm surprised how articulate this guy is...

    Hell, he seems smart!!!!

You don't get that from his movies!

  • this just proves that you dont hav eto be a nerd og geek to play D&D. Of the people i play with, 1 is a director for a company making advertisement signs, 1 is a farmer, 1 is a chef, another one is a marketing consultant, and the last one is a Lieutenant in the military

  • Cool, one that doesn't have the audio replaced with some crap song.

  • thumbs up if he made D&D seem more of a Art then just a game.

  • @PittsburghIsLove it is more an art.

  • @PittsburghIsLove It is a art

  • @PittsburghIsLove thats because it is.

  • omg. yes. lol. vin played D&D. this made my day. seriusly. tottally destroyed the mental image of a bunch of nerds eating hot pockets. lol

  • if that were napoleon dynamite and not vin diesel every1 would have been like NERD!!!! FUCKING NERD!

  • I would like to say i love vin diesel in riddick, fast and the furious series. But now i see him as a greater inspiration, like he grew up in new york,I grew up in compton california..mind u this was during the age of red vs blue gangs.. i was often beat up hit up by cops and the only thing that helped me escape the turmoil in the city was D&D and a small group of life long friends!...and now that i see somebody like vin diesel played d&d i dont feel relived im black 25 now but started at 12 thx

  • @EveSwayzz typo "i dont feel relived" = " I feel very relived"
