As far as chokes go, anything from a cylinder choke to light mod should work well. You can even fire slugs through a full choke, though I'm not sure how accurate they'd be. Firing with no choke in the gun will fuck up the barrel threads after a while.
@automan420 I used to shoot at this spot frequently. A gentleman who also shoots there alot used a laser range finder and marked on the ground with spray paint the 100 yard mark. That was my reference point. If its not exactly 100 yards then it is pretty darn close. And btw the target WAS 2'x2' and very easy to pick up with the bead sight.
Mossberg says there $200 m500 from walmart will do 100 yards with that field barrel. It has the accu-choke . Rifled slugs are made for choked smoothbore shotguns, the rifled slugs somewhat make up for the spin lost from no rifling. Rifled slugs are slightly smaller too so they'll squeeze past the chokes .
Was the first gun a mossberg 590a1? What was the second shotgun you used? I don't think it is a mossberg due to mossberg being well known for the safety on the top which I did not see on the second shotgun.
the first gun was a mossberg 500 tactical (the safety is on top, vid quality might not show it as well) and the second is a remington 870 express magnum

how do you hold your aim for like 50 yards? like wheres your bead sitting?
ibanezkid07 1 year ago
@ibanezkid07 Well the plate was about 2'x2', so it wasn't exactly a small target. My friend had the bead about 3/4 inch below the target.

Nice to see someone stretching the 12ga a little bit. Folks often don't want to believe what the shotgun is capable of.
