  • Haven't even been born when Karen Carpenter died, love their songs nonetheless.. Carpenters made a bunch of classics...

  • In my opinion, on of the most beautiful, expressive voices of all the second half of the 20th century and perhaps also from the 21th century!!!

  • The one by Elvis costello was better than this.....I loved the sax part in costello

  • Sweet!

  • grandes canções nunca envelhecem! eterno sucesso e hoje uma doce viagem ao passado!

  • Burt Bacharach is one of the greatest pop composers of all time.

  • @madamerotten Correct. Karen Carpenter with her perfect velvet voice singing the cool elegant songs of Burt Bacharach. Just how good can popular music be? that good.

  • @tigerarmyrule You may have seen Bacharach's appearance in the Austin Powers movie where he plays this piece on piano with Elvis Costello singing. It is hilarious and amazing. And, yes, I can't say enough good things about Karen Carpenter.

  • Maravilha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the dude looks a little bit like kevin bacon

  • This is my theme song.

  • Don't mean to denigrate Dionne Warwick or Caren Carpenter but Bobby Gentry's version did it for me during my childhood way back in '69 or '70

  • The only one.No one can compare to her voice.Super cooooooooooll!

  • don't tell me what is all about

  • another Bacharach's great song!

  • another timeless song by the carpenters.

  • Curti muito essa musica , belíssima ...

  • They look very similar :D

  • Good for You,... Thanks to Your Father... Keep on loving Carpenters Music...

  • Best woman voice ever... so sweet and perfect...

  • My dad raised me on the Carpenters, I had a cassette tape of them that I played allll the time. Thank god for my amazing father who introduced me to good music at a young age! I'm nineteen now, and I still love The Carpenters <3

  • @KorySanders13 youre so lucky to have this kind of music in mind, same to me too, if not because my father's tape i would not even know this song

  • simple, sweet and amazing song...

  • i knew this song was too good to be originally by elvis costello. and yes i know it wasn't originally by the carpenters either.

  • Karen was the best.Don't talk about my girl.I'm 58yrs old now her music got me through the worst of times.

  • yeh and even the brothers 'ahem koff koff' 'singing' doesnt screw it it up

    'DROO-THILA PENNE' anyone ?

    LOL sooo bad

  • Exactly how I feel.

Specially the part that says: What do you get when you fall in love??? you only get lies pain and sorrow, so for at least until tomorrow, I'll never fall in love again!

  • Voces como la de Karen, sólo una en un millón de años, hasta siempre Karen y que donde quiera que estés siguas cantando.

  • my young years ....mes jeunes années ....remembers ...souvenirs ....i like for ever ..j'aime toujours ....

  • It is so refreshing:))

  • i bought a pirated spice girl 's song compilation. then one of the extra songs is this song but sang in a slower and bitter mood. but cant find it anywhere on the net? is it a solo project by one of them?

  • @serracross

Actually they are just "singers" - Karen Carpenter, on the other hand, was an artist . . .

  • THE THEME IS GORGEOUS!!

    KAREN CARPENTER

    (Rest In Peace)

  • @serracross sur .....Karen c ....Baez , Streisand ..grande chanteuse .....great singer ..

  • hahah..I'll never fall in love so not to catch pneumonia... :D

  • oh wa wa... she killed herself. It happens.

  • @jennahardy4 You don't call people who are sick with anorexia and wanting to recover as killing themselves. She want to recover, but it was too late.

  • @KingHafify yes, but she began starving herself way before it was too late.

  • And BTW, stop throwing shit to Lady Gaga, is a singer like any other; the world isn’t a worse place because of Lady Gaga.

  • The time at Joe Osborn’s studio is where the soft but massive Carpenters’ chorale sound was achieved. It’s done by Richard and Karen building four-part chords and overdubbing them twice, for a total of 12 voice parts. However, for occasional effects they will expand their harmonies up to 13-part chords covering three octaves. With triple overdubs, this gets a total of 39 voices and can be heard most extensively on their “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again. (Billboard, nov. 1973).

  • I'll Never Fall In Love Again is superb. 2 thumbs up!

  • Why is it that the most beautiful and good-hearted people die sooner than the scum bags we have polluting the world today? Listening to Karen makes me sad because she was one of those innocent people who was deprived from life.

  • @mclovin9535 Thats the way it goes Mc,all the good ones seem to go early. The list would be endless. But we have their songs, thats some sort of bonus.Dx

  • I loved Karen, she was a doll!!

  • 9 peoples never fall in love again...

  • Maybe It's not the best of Karen But it tells truth

  • SHe never got tired of singing, but she got tired of eating...

  • is that justin bieber?

  • great arrangement

  • @steaksalad, well 66 people agree with me, so how about that? HA HA!

  • a broken heart!!!

  • Some dude really must have screwed her up!

  • @uprite88 'Twas a cover version but apparently at least one guy really did

  • Wow! I didn't even know they did a version of this. :)

  • Karen's voice is so beautiful and charming.

  • 9 people don't have ears..

  • omg im singing this song in my middle school choir. the original sounds nice!! i'm totally gonna tell my chorus director about this!! btw i'm twelve!11

  • Its sooooo stupid to compare 2 artists that both lived and lives at different times. You people are a shame and should be ashamed of the stupidity you post in the internet!

  • FACT:

Very few knew that Karen was actually an autistic man. Thus the deep voice and great concentration.

  • @kennethj1956 lol what?

  • amazing just amazing

  • For Randy to write LITTLE GIRL BLUE it was a labor of LOVE and he wanted Karen's story to be told...kudos Randy!!! You really captured Karen's story....

  • FYI -THE PEOPLE CLOSES TO KAREN WHO ACTUALLY KNOW "THE REAL" STORY WILL NEVER RESORT TO WRITTING A BOOK, I ADMIRE THIS, RESPECT IT, & THANK THEM.

  • i just love them since i was 4 now im 13! :)

  • Paul 2t-well said. Absolutely well said.

  • Karen Carpenter was an amazing artist. Her talent was appreciated by Burt Bacharach himself. But this song is not The Carpenters best effort. Richard Carpenter's (re)arrangements (especially his instrumental bridges) are sometimes a little too upbeat for the lyrics. Elvis Costello (and Burt) got this one right.

  • Richard Carpenter would have done a great job performing a song or two at the Royal wedding, however if our own president isen't even invited, well you see what I'm saying. I could see The Carpenters doing We've only just begun, so fitting for a Royal beginning.

  • Concerning Lady Gaga you are wrong. She is a young woman who writes, performs and sings her songs live. (She is a girl from now, with lots of talent live on piano too). Of course, I do like The Carpenters . Beautiful songs. .... .

  • @Paul2T Lady Goo Goo never made it big 'til she started dressing like a slut and wearing enough makeup to make a whore jealous. She couldn't make it on talent the way Karen did. As far as musical talent - writing or singing - she has none... especially when compared to Karen - she's not even close to Karen's league. Her name should never be pronounced in the same conversation as Karen.

  • @MrDarkShadow64 AMEN couldn't have said it better myself! Karen would blow Ca Ca out the water!

  • @maleficentdiva

Why the hell are you comparing Karen to Gaga? They are two completely different singers with their own styles. Yes Karen is amazing but so is Gaga. I just don't see why Gaga is being brought up when she has nothing to do with Karen.

  • @EmotionIsMyFriend my point was how music of nowadays isn't as good as music from the past, THAT IS MY POINT!!!! Lady Ga Ga isn't going to have the legacy that Karen has. Karen's music is timeless and Lady Ga Ga isn't!

  • @MrDarkShadow64

What's Lady Gaga got to with Karen Carpenter?? The two singers are completely different. Gaga is amazing, writes her own music and can pull off certain things that many people can't. Karen is amazing too and has a very sweet and unique voice but I don't see everyone is bringing up Gaga when she's got nothing to do with Karen....

  • Inolvidablemente ùnicos....especialmente èsta melodìa::: Nostalgia de mi divina juventud....què felicidad:: Què recuerdos !!!...aùn tengo esos acetatos. Grx por compartir tan linda mùsica.!!!

  • God, please bring Karen back to us.. You may take Lady Gaga as the return..

  • @Innocero Good idea! Who needs Gaga... I fell in love with Karen Carpenter and her heaven sent voice when I bought my first album in 1982, alongside with Enya, she is my favorite singer. Sometimes I wonder how much more she could have sung if she lived longer. I can listen to her voice for hours! And I bet she was much more than a superb artist, I wish I could have had a chance to meet her at least once. She will live in her fans hearts.

  • @Innocero

Mr. G may not listen as we'd like, but he ain't deaf.

  • @Innocero HAHAHA NICE!!!!! TRUE!!!

  • Great singing, Karen!

  • @gamy6623 There's no argument that Karen is one of the greatest female singers of seventies, with this song however, it's the original singer of this song that deserves all the credit(Bobby Gentry)

  • @istimewa1x It was Dionne Warwick who had the Top 10 Hit with this song and won the 1970 GRAMMY- Best Female Vocal Performance in Pop for "I'll Never Fall In Love Again".

  • @ssstate727 that may or may not be true. Both Dionne and Karen are class acts but so is/was miss Bobby Gentry who scored a hit in the UK and Netherlands with that song

  • Karen was born on March 2nd. Today is March 2nd and I think of her all day long. It makes me feel great.

  • Hi friend! I was born one day before Karen and love all her songs. She has the best woman's voice I ever heard. Sing a song for the angels dear Karen!

  • First time I heard this whole song, I knew "what do you get when you fall in love" since I was like 5, being 17 now. Good song.

  • Ridiculous intro but loved the rest

  • Karen was a very beautiful woman!

  • legal

  • Why can't people go one video without mentioning how today's music sucks? Honestly, different strokes for different folks and you don't have to make yourself seem close minded by insulting another genre of music (a genre that is so far removed from the music in the video). I listen to everything and I don't sit there thinking I'm better because I have a certain taste in music.

  • such immense and effortless talent, be happy shes in Heaven, and we are likely someday to hear her sing again! :)

  • I love her voice so much...

  • I heard the Carpenters in 1972 Guatemala 3rd grade. I was living with my aunt who was a kinder teacher. Julio Iglesias was on all the radios too. Unforgettable memories.Macartney and Wings. Nothing like those times

  • Too clinical.

  • This, to me, is the BEST version of this song! While I do like Dionne's earlier version, this one, I think, has more energy! BTW Dionne Warwick's version is not the original. I just learned that was originally performed by Jerry Orbach in "Promises, Promises"

  • @cmulwee001

yeah but pretty much everything written in the 60's by backarach and david was tailor made for Dionne

  • Comment removed

  • The dionne warwick version is another song. There was i'll never love this way again and the music and lyrincs are differents. Karen Caroenter song was i'll never FALL IN LOVE AGAIN.

Both of them are very beatyfull songs and i cal both a classic songs.

  • @JJSuperSport Dionne Warwick actually did the original version of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", she ALSO did "I Know I'll Never Love This Way Again".

  • I like Dionne Warwick's version better.

We should be asking ouselves, look what you get when Karen doesn't eat enough?

  • karen and her golden voice.

  • The Best of all time!

  • I always find this song amusing. It has this upbeat happy melody and such bitter and angry lyrics. I think that it is a great dichotemy

  • My fav song! thanks for posting!

  • whoa! the instrumental reminds me of Hunter X Hunter! her voice is so awesome! the arrangement is so relaxing and cool at the same time...it's so beautiful it makes me want to cry. indeed, this is a song for all generations!

  • AWESOME !!!

    Luv this song

  • Karen was a fox!!

  • I absolutely love Karen Carpenter and was very sad of the news when she died. She has one of the most beautiful voices in the whole wide world. I was blessed to be around as she was singing her awesome songs with that angelic voice. May she rest in peace

  • The Carpenters were such an important part of my high schools years.

  • One Of The Best!

I agree with maleficentdiva i also hate my generations music

  • pure. clean. perfect. the perfect version. of Burt B.

  • And to think people consider Lady Ga-Ga as "MUSIC"??? Its laughable! Lady Ga-Ga and the rest of the quote unquote "SINGERS" of these are nothing compared to Karen!

  • @maleficentdiva Get off your high horse. This song has decent melody but how simplistic are the lyrics? How gooey and sappy are they?

  • @Thealmostguy that is what makes the song great, its simple and tasteful! Karen never oversang songs, like the people do nowadays, she had a simple and easy mellow type of voice. Her music is relaxing and makes you feel good! Gooey and sappy is great it shows a person has a soul, and meaning behind what they are singing! Its called EMOTION HONEY! not screaming and shouting like Christina Agulera does, BIG DIFFERENCE! its called good taste! and Karen had it!

  • @maleficentdiva Honey??? Emotion??? Yeah, quite the positive spin. I could easily refer to it as saccherine and ill-conceived, melodramatic spewage. But whatever, it's meh to me. I wouldn't be so self-righteous as to malign peoples' tastes with sweeping generalizations. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Karen didn't write a whole lot of her songs did she? Now I'm no Aguilera fan but you claim objectivity by using"talent" in your comments. Clearly Aguilera has an incredible vocal range. Talent, no?

  • @Thealmostguy Well you know what, if you don't like Karen that is fine, I am not going to drag on this debate, becasue its pointless. Obviously you don't get Karen at all, and the type of person and great artist she is/was.

  • @maleficentdiva I never said "I don't like her."

  • @Thealmostguy the deal is karen could sing songs it seemed with no effort or having to oversing it.This is hard to explain but its like singing was as natural to her as a bird is to flying,u dont see birds doing flips or trying to do ridiculus stunts.but about anyother singer u name seems as though they dont sing natural but have to do all kinds of acrobatics to make up for it Karen Carpenter didnt.

  • @valkour22 I agree, Karen had such a unique "contralto" voice, yet an incredible range. A voice that comes along once in a lifetime, perhaps. She made it look so easy.

  • @Thealmostguy -- Simplistic? I find the lyrics to be clever and accurate; poignant and humorous. They also fit the tune well.

  • @maleficentdiva

I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @maleficentdiva No need for quote unquote.

  • @maleficentdiva I like both, problem?

  • @maleficentdiva You're a bit judgemental for my taste. Can't I choose what "music" & "singers" I enjoy?

  • @maleficentdiva Why can't people enjoy both? Even if Lady Gaga is not as talented as Karen she is still an artist in her own way, just because you don't ejoy her doesn't make her any less of a singer.

  • @Korisoup yes lady GaGa is less of a singer

  • @55102

Gaga is no less of a singer than Karen, they both have their own style and plus Gaga has nothing to do with Karen anyway...

  • @Korisoup

Agreed. I don't get why Gaga is even being mentioned anyway, she has nothing to do with Karen.

  • @maleficentdiva Its Lady Gaga. And If you do know that you dont belong on Youtube.

  • @Miranda0217 Lady Ga Ga doesn't exist to me SORRY! LOL!

  • Eu simplesmente amo essa música............

  • RIP, Karen...part of me died with you

  • That voice is magic.

  • I always liked their take on this

  • Angelic, what a treasure lost

  • YEAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA... >:@

  • This was my life at 14 when I got heartbroken by a boy and decided that boys were pointless. It was like being in a wonderland that I was forcibly pushed out of and never wanted to return to. Now that I'm 18, I'm trying to go back and give it another chance.

  • @MissGenius3847 baby, when a guy comes a long to deserve you then you will fall in love again, i promise

  • @MissGenius3847 Don't worry, you'll meet love at the least moment you expect it to come in your life. There is is someone who's waiting for you out there, you can be sure of that. I was 18 a long time ago and then also thought I've lived enough to know love wasn't for me.Now I'm 41 and I am the father of three kids.Love is at the corner of the street for everyone, just keep your heart open :-)

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr - i never hear them on 70's on 7, how come?

  • @tomandmary55 I don't know what 70's on 7 is. There may be stations that play 70's music, but some of those stations play songs that are either disco or play music that's a little bit harder than The Carpenters. So, you wouldn't hear their music on them. I'm not sure if that answers your question. Have a good day.

  • For now...I'll never ever fall in love again..maybe in 50 years...I'll be in my 90's! Yeah, that's the perfect time!

  • Dude on the left looks scary

  • @ maleficentdiva. Your right! she has a beautiful voice!

  • nc VIDEO! i think i fall in love again !!!

  • wasn scheiß:D

    elvis costello is viel geiler...

und zum thema "pure magic" du bist wohl net nur einmal aufn kopp gefalln:P

  • @HairBeard

    Was`n scheiß??? ;o)

Die sagen mir wegens was- aber Elvis Costello.... hatte wohl noch nicht so den Hit- sonst würde ich den kennen*frechgrinz*

    Ne mal ehrlich- alles Geschmackssache...

  • Hermosa voz...! and gone remember to my girlfriend...!

  • Karen seems to bring more truth to the lyrics than Dionne Warwick or Elvis Costello did.

  • @chumpthedog This is good, but the new standard for this song has to be Chenoweth.

  • dionne and karen..all of those funkies from the 70s..really had the perfect corny lyrics..so real. who said the 70s wasn't real? it was a rainbow of fruit flavors. i feel that more of dionne's lyrics should be sampled by djs and rappers alike today. it only makes sense to extrapolate from that pool. i haven't seen that transplant occur yet. i wonder why? seriously. closest thing is something reminiscent in a 007 spoof. not the same thing. dionne is PERFECT for sampling.

  • voice is fabulous and a great cover of the song ....lovge the drum beat by karen in this

  • Can't beat Bobbie Gentry's huskiness for my money. Whatever happened to her?

  • great song though i prefer elvis' cover

  • The best arrangement of this song ever!!!!! Karen is still the greatest!!!

  • Carpenters version

    Dionne Warwick version

    Elvis Costello version

    Burt Bacharach version

All are great, and of course Karen was awesome.

I kind of like Dionnes version best, it was more 'hooky'. Carpenters more mellow.

  • She could have done so much more... She is truly amazing!!!! Karen is really great :)

  • hehe. cute song! :)

  • Bién entonada, Dios la tenga en su santo reino

  • Still love this song! I bought the album in Detroit (at Korvets, lol) when it was released - and still have it! I knew Close To You was on it and at that time everyone in the free world was singing that song .... drove my Grandmother crazy playing it over and over......those were the days!

  • Saudade!!!!!!!

  • Think I will never fall in love again either..................................

    but thát is another story.......................

So many songs about Love.........most certaily have not heard all of them yet.

    Life is c
