I have the Lionel Amtrak GG-1 in the box never used . I bought the 2 floor Amtrak Passenger Cars too. Got 3 of them. I bought them from a Retired Manager from Pan,Am.
hey i wanted to ask you what do you use to keep or briten up those aluminum streamliners up with i have a lionel #2341 jersey central trainmaster fm set lionel made back in 1956 that has three of the 2500 series alminum stramliners and i would like to get them to look alittle better then they do there ok looking now but it wouldnt hurt to get alittle more gloss out of them yours are realy shape looking
@grizzleybearz282004 Why are you yelling? Does something about Lionel make you really excited or angry? FYI ALL CAPITALS MEANS YELLING ON THE INTERNET! TURN THE CAPSLOCK OFF!!! (caps intended).
@joebob3719 lol no im not yelling believe me others will know when im yelling with or without caps before would use caps because it made it alittle ezer to see what im typeing i have issues with my vision and slowly going blind but since it because such a big deal to some pepole i started takeing my time typeing without the caps on but hey isnt that a pretty nice gg1 set in the video i wasnt realy a fan of the gg1 in amtrak colors always liked the green & red gg1s but i started to like it
Oh I'm sorry, I feel like a butt. I didn't realize it was for your vision. Its just most people use all caps to symbolize yelling when simple English can't get their point across, and for those who abuse it gets annoying, just like yelling in real life. Although for an internet protip, hitting the ctrl and + in your web browser will make webpage bigger, and ctrl and - will make it smaller. If you use those you can adjust the screen size to your liking.
@grizzleybearz282004 Also, GG1s are classy engines aren't they? Most of the modern passenger engines look like somebody hit a toaster with a rock and taped wheels to it (except the Acela). My grandma has a Lionel GG1 without magna-traction sitting on her mantelpiece (my grandpa never ran it often, without magna-traction the thing would just fall off the tracks), it even still had the Post-war Lionel Pullman passenger cars. I tested it one xmas a few years ago, and surprisingly it worked.
@joebob3719 i gussing you have the 1947 to 1949 #2332 gg1 without magnetracion with one pullmor motor pullman passenger set do you have the brunswick green or the black #2332 i did hear something awhile back about them derailing on the curves it has something to do with the the front or rear turning wheel trucks it is fixable just google it also make sure your useing qt lease o-31 or higher curve tracks o-27 which was very common track will derail it too shape
@grizzleybearz282004 The pullman's are black (i think, the lighting at grandmas is always terrible), I wouldn't be surprised to find out when my grandpa did run the GG1 it was on curves that the poor thing could just barely manage. If that fix did work I couldn't touch it anyway, because while it is my grandma's, my uncle has claims to it and he would throw me into a river with a limestone around my neck if he found out I did anything to mod it.
Memories come alive. Here is the revolutionary locomotive that opened the door for fast trains. The GG-1 50 years in service and still remembered after it close its era in commuter service in New York-Newark zone.
Awesome GG1 passenger set! I still have my MTH Railking Pennsylvania GG1 (Tuscan red 5 stripe) passenger set from 2007. It was nice to see it pull the 1930's Broadway Limited style cars which came with the engine. I was supprised when I learned from the catalog that it had the same tractive effort as the Big Boy but only cleaner.
I have a Tuscan-colored multi-striped GG-1 made around the mid 80's, and I have to say, it's a bit noisy in the slow-speed, but it's really, really powerful. Love it, and it's reliable!
I also have the congressional set from 1979. Along with the 1977 Tuscan release of the GG1, which I had repainted by Elliot Welz into the Black Jack 4935 Brunswick Green color scheme. A hell of alot nicer than the Lionel paint job. I ran it under live catenary in those days. Too bad I didn't take any videos of it. I can tell you though, that it was the smoothest running of all my Lionel locos. I am presently into LGB. All of my Lionel, except that set, was sold or traded.

GG-1s are such a pain to re-rail, great locomotives to have on a train layout though.
