In the Shurangama Sutra, Gautama Buddha agreed with Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva that Quan Yin ( contemplation on the Inner Sound ) meditation is the best method to attain enlightenment and that he too practiced the same method. So the message is, we too can reach Nirvana, just need to be veg to purify the body and to search for a true master for guidance.
