Not gonna lie I know alot of people that would kill to have this vehicle where i live. It is a great vehicle and you have taken good car of it it seems!
Ford didn't do themselves any favors by stopping production on the Bronco 2's. Loved them. Wouldn't mind owning one some day. The Ram Chargers are awesome rigs too.
Nice looking vehicle. The only comment I got to make is it would be nice to see a spare tire carrier on that thing. So if something happens that causes you to leave you don't want to be stranded along side the road with a flat. Being a larger tire it makes it a little harder to find a replacement just any where at that critical moment.
nice looking ride you got there. I am building my own '83 HJ60 with 4 liter turbo-diesel,38" tires, two winches, arb hublocks and 3 inch bodylift. I am about to do a SOA lift on it too,and trying to add another batery and alternator to it as well.
Those bullet proof windows? You have doors reinforced? Those tires bullet proof? That vehicle has shielded electronics? You have extra shielded gas cans ready to go?
I sold my 86 Bronco II a couple years back. I don't think there's a cheaper 4x4 out there. They can take a hit or two as well. Had a new Ford Ranger back up into my front fender. Didn't make a scratch and his bumper fell off
where will it get you ? on one tank of gasoline ? power may be out , an emp may have fried the electronics at the fueling stations or in the truck itself . an older diesel car or truck is the ONLY bug out vehicle anyone should be looking into . no computers to fry and fuel can be any filtered oil , just carry a small 12v filter setup...... of you think gasoline will be easy to get after a major event , your kidding yourself
Let's think here bub. Diesels have a pump that doesn't have to operate to make it run. If this pump is not working the injection pump will eventually keel over. The diesel trucks you are talking about has a magnet in the side of the injection pump that makes it switch to the run position. DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE OF THE PERCENTAGE OF GAS POWERED CARS OVER DIESEL POWERED CARS? I know I could find gas easier than trying to fight with people over blown up Taco Bells for fuel.
Only sure fire of having something to maybe work would be a mechanically injected mechanicaly primed. Such as an old tractor or a old mercedes. But still starters have magnet's in them too. So I guess hope for a 5 speed and park it on a hill.
@douger0500 what are you talking about? diesel cars have either an inline injection pump or a distributor pump. Both are self-priming, i.e. there is no separate fuel pump. These pumps were 100% mechanical, no electronics on vehicles until the early 1990s, which means these will run without a battery and without an alternator. The only way to make the engine stop (except stalling it) is to stop the fuel flow, which is why these engines have a valve that only opens when 12 volts are applied.
@CactusBobsPlace Yep a compression engine doesnt need power to run just has a fuel shut off just need to get them crnking over and you can run any type of kero or deisel. You just need a good straining system for running on oil but yes they have ones that run off tocobell grease lol.I think some guy has a VW van like that a bio vehichle thats what you need.
Great tough truck ... but how the hell are you going to feed the thing when T.S.H.T.F and fuel is scarce? Surely diesel is the go, you can even use veggie oil in a diesel ... just a thought ...Cheers
Very nice. I'm really trying to decide whether I want to go big ol' dependable fixable style like you or get a Subaru without an extreme amount of miles on it. I've seen some that I just happened to be near while out in parking lots and thought "hm, those run forever, are AWD, and I could haul lumber even - if that back seat comes out, I'm not sure. Just a recent thought. Anyone with opinions on that throw them out - I'd love to hear them. I'm very much into SHTF scenarios etc but no mechanic
My Bug out vehicle is a 74 bronco with a 2 inch lift and mud radials i still have the full top but we are looking for a half cab cuz the full cab is very squeaky and lound and the small bed is nice because i can put a tarp over it and create a great shelter i can store lots of thins in it also i love it
nice bronco! i had an '83 bronco 2 that ran like a charm. the thing just wouldnt quit running. it wasnt very well taken care of when i got it. the motor 2.9 was sweet. rust finally got to it and i sold to a buddy at work. as far as i know its still running. peace
Smart to hide your license plates on the trucks. It would be very easy for someone to find you otherwise. Publicdatadot com is who I use.

@braveheart98 At that point you could probably just find 4 spares and do a full swap but you're right spare is a good idea.

If WMD is EMP, vehicle electronics will be fried. Stay home and build defenses and stock provisions. Food, water, guns etc.
