Dangling Buffalo is native to Australia. I just gotta say to the top two comments... This boat comes through every day. Every day this croc gets the meat. If it was torture, it would go hunt something that was less torture, you know, like the boat full of tourists? It's a croc!
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome they eat anything big enought for them to take down, baby hippos, weak adult hippos. They can pluck birds out of a tree. Wilderbeast, zebra, antolope, (sp?) even other gators. They're so beautiful.
Yes, what im sayin gis, that there doesnt seem to be a supply of most of the animals you metioned. There arent any wilderbeast, antelope or zebra in AUSTRALIA !
And that there is a SWAMP - no large animals live there.
As for plucking birds from a tree - they cant do that all day.
Kangaroos get to 7-foot. There are emus and cassowaries. Dingos as well. But, australia use to have something called megafauna. The indigenous people wiped them out; these crocs use to hunt larger animals.
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome You asked WHAT they eat, not what crocs in Australia ate. You want certain answer, ask the question correctly. I just gave a sum up on what they eat. Their is many things they can eat. There is large hoofed animals in Australia along with kangaroos, fish, Goanna, Wombat, etc.
I didnt ask what ones like them, who happen to live in the far away contenant of Africa, where there are stacks of zebra and wilderbeast eat, because i know what they eat - zebra and wilderbesties !
What i find hard to grasp, is what all these crocs in australia eat,.
And i dnt think you really know, otherwise you wouldn't say "LARGED HOOFED ANIMALS" (which is HILLARIOUS)
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome ok, your being retarded. You don't think its possible for a kangaroo to come to the water and drink and the croc grabs hold of it? Ugh, go watch some Animal Planet or something.
I DO think that spossible, but i didnt know that kangaroos hung around in swamps - i thought they were more your open plane type animals.
And ive NEVER seen it on ANY wildlife programme, either NEVER !
Perhaps you have, or perhaps you're making it up. Please show me a link where i can find a croc catching a kangaroo, then i will have learned the answer to my question.
And pls tell me the name of the "large hoofed animals", which these crocs eat, in australia (IF YOU CAN)
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome I never said I'd seen it. But I said its possible. And not all crocodiles are in the swamps. Their in rivers and many different bodies of water. And yeah, Kangaroos are, but don't they have to drink? And thats too bad, they're good shows. And yeah, I watch them sometimes, more when I was younger though. And I didn't say I had a link, I said is was possible. And I'm not making it up. I didn't know this was in Austraila.
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome Oh, and for the hoofed animal in Australia, The water buffalo was brought to Australia from Indonesia in the 1820's for meat. It has been a major environmental disaster in the wetlands of the north. Its wallowing habit has damaged native flora . A major culling operation was undertaken some time ago and the population of buffalo is now manageable. I have a link but it won't let me post it.
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome Wild boar, kangaroos, barramundi, sharks and the occasional tourist who ignores the "NO SWIMMING" signs.. They are an apex predator that is incredibly fast at ambushing prey on a bank. Kangaroos drinking are easy meat.
@AnnoyingTypoSyndrome Saltwater Crocs live in salt/brackish waters mostly large rivers and coastal estuaries. Yes kangaroos and wild pigs drink out of rivers and are prayed on. In Indonesia/PNG etc they have taken buffalo. So far as "swamps" i guess your talking about inland wetlands - up north your more likely to encounter freshwater crocodiles there. Lol crocodiles do eat roo's, I know a bit about them, I lived in the NT for many years.
I have been here and watched the feedings. I also have been to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo before his untimely death. His best mate Wes put on the show that day. He fed the crocs in much the same way as they did at this croc feeding show. He said it was important to have them work and earn their meal. He said they try to mimic the way they catch their prey in the wild. So I must assume, these people know what they are doing is best for the crocs. These crocs are still in the wild.
@19carlos48 OMG that's sooo amazing that you've been to his Zoo. I simply adored Steve Irwin and his everlasting respect for animals. I always watched his shows on Animal Planet whenever I got the chance. I also loved his dog Sui. It was the saddest thing for me and my Mom who both loved him dearly to hear that he passed away. He was an amazing man, and my blessings will forever go out to his beautiful wife and daughter May Bindi grow up to be a great girl like her Dad.
@Drozal Have you ever watched the trouble these animals go through when they naturally hunt for food? Sometimes days of waiting, when they actually get pray all the thrashing and rolling, then they have to hold the animal under the water and drown it, and then once they finally can start eating it other crocodiles come along and try to mooch. What kind for dumb-ass are you? It's so annoying when people anthropomorphize and call abuse. Especially when the animal is actually better off.
@haohyou12 you know, i can honestly say i've never followed a crocodile around for a couple days to see how it eats, when i can sit my lazy ass on my couch and watch the discovery channel
umm... maybe to show people just how agile these predators are? I dunno, like maybe help folks understand how much more serious they should take these animals?
when i found 8 foot of a 16 foot gator hanging from a tree trap in louisiana i decided i didnt care if it was better than your croc i decided that it could kill me and that was enough... but a croc vs gator fight would be nice.

do you think a crocodile really needs love and care? Predators like crocs get lazy and bored if they get hand fed and hugged all the time.

What do they eat ?
There are so many of them, and they're so big, that they must have a very large food supply, fo some sort or another.
