  • only bad thing about the new 302 is the pistons are not forged and the rods are powered metal forging other then that its a great motor.

  • ford racing has the new coyote 302 for seven thousand dollars and another 2 grand for the computer, i dont know how much it would cost for you to get the correct tranny for it though. But i bet it would cost atleast 2500. If i was you i would just spend the money on the new coyote 302 couse you have to figure if you put the wright headers on it and the wright exhoust and cold air intake and the right tune to it that new 302 makes close to 500hp at the flywheel.

  • @Kitao87 very true. You can't beat a bike but the stang does get decent on the interstate (~21mpg), in the city it drinks it though.

    I can't wait to start fixing up mine, all I have on it right now are 3.73 gears, Heads, full exhaust and tuned. Going to try for a built motor, get cams heads pistons and all that good junk, try for maybe a turbo but would go.

I bought the motor built, then the 1st machine shop tore it apart and rehoned it (too big), he charge me $2154 on top of what I already spent, to fuck up my motor. I think if I were to start over from scratch and have Proline build another aluminum block, fully forged, with heads, cams, etc, etc.... probably $8-$10k

  • the 195 was a joke. 320 is low compared to what a 6liter? 320 rwhp on a mustang dyno with a 2v 4.6liter is respectable. The car also runs 12.4@110 with that little 320hp.

  • I have a 2000 i did A head swap and went with stage 3 as well. I HAD to have mine bored for it to work. i had no choice. i also gianed alot more horse power. about 100 more? i'm not bragging i'm trying to figure out how you got by with not boring the block out. and only gaining about 40-45 horse power? something sounds terribbly wrong.

    Btw that stage 3 setup LOVES nitros!!!!!! Just make sure you have an aluminum intake manifold to replace your pos plastic. that plastic will bust every time.

  • are you referring to me? If so what makes you think it wasn't bored? It's bored .020". I dynoed 320rwhp, where as stock it dynoed 228rwhp. As far as the plastic intake it's had nitrous for 9 years now and never popped the intake, so please explain how the plastic will bust every time? If you were referring to someone else I apologize, if not then don't assume things.

    well you must not have a very big shot in it cause i have a 125 shot and busted 3. and know at least 6 people that did the same thing.

    still if you dynoed at 228 rwhp before the all the performance work something isnt adding up.

    You dont have to be an ass hole. I wasnt, i was being curious. The reason i assumed i had not been bored is because most places cant and will not bore out anything smaller than .030 and the only reason i was able to do it is because my dad has the machinery.

  • wasn't being an asshole, I was correcting you that's all. I don't know of many stock 2v's that dyno much higher than my 228rwhp, those are typical #'s so what is not adding up? These cars make 260hp at the crank. Figure in 15% for drivetrain loss (5speed) 260*.85=221rwhp. 100 shot is all, never could get the tune figured out for a bigger shot, but it's build to handle a 200shot as long as the tune can. Must people that I know that pop in intake is due to spraying at too low of an rpm (below 3k)

  • Were you running the proper safety equipment, including a widow switch set above 3k.

    Also you you ever dynoed your car when completely stock (with the factory tune)? If you dynoed over a lot more than 228rwhp then I will say "something isn't adding up."

    MOST people bore these modular motors to .020", which is enough to prevent the valves from hitting the cylinder walls.

    i dynoed it a few months after i bought it. still had factory exhaust intake all that and made 244.3rwhp.

  • it dyno'd out at 384.62rwhp @ 5314. All motor. i dont remember the exact tq. but i do remeber i wasnt very impressed with it.

    Yea my safety crap is set at 3,500 just in case. also got my rev limit set low. just in case.

  • It had the stock windsor block with the factory PI heads. i never ran it at the track before i built it.

    I've only run it one time at the track since i built it and when i did my shift knob came off (dont ask me how because me nor no one else at the track that day had ever heard of it) anyway caused me to miss 3rd so i got a high 13 think it was like a 13.784 or somthing it was awfull.

    The reason for taking it to the track only one time is because the nearest track to me is over two hourse away and its a really crapy track. i dont see how they keep it open. The next nearest would be a two day trip. My job wont allow it. :(

  • thanks. The cams were about $600, but I changed all the hardware (cam gears, chains, tensoners, etc). I did that at the same time that I did the heads, and engine so as far as labor I couldn't tell you. Lets just say the total bill for everything was a lot. lol

  • no they are aftermarket (I was going for the subtle look). The rears are 17x10.5 and the fronts are 17x9. The rear tires are a 315/35's (not nearly enough tire to hold the car on nitrous) and the fronts are 275/40's

  • stock is 17x8. i wouldn't go bigger than a 275/40 on an 8" wheel.

  • Course I did (like a dummy) order the largest set comp cams had out at the time..They were under "race" category..lol..I've been a mechanic for 10 years and still act retarted with stuff like that. I just LOVE the sound of an 8 cylinder engine idling rough or cuttin up..or hitting a lick..however you wanna put it..There's NOTHING better than a V8 thumpin'!! Nice car man! Now I have an oldsmobile gmaw car that get's 30 mpg LOL

  • I'm guessing that you went with 278's and probably had to flycut the pistons or had some major issues.

  • You know I asked comp about that and they said that there was TONS of room in there. Which is weird because if you get this mod motor ONE tooth out of time you just bought some valves. I just looked at comps website and yeah...the 278AH...That's the ones lol...Man did they sound good when it would actuall idle though.

  • BTW if you look to the right under related videos. "Crower cams Mustang" by 12seggt has to be one of the best sounding stangs!

  • I heard it earlier..That thing sounds Great..Mine idled like that when it was on cold start mode..when it went off of that it started going crazy...The air idle valve had no idea what to do and the MAF was going nuts.I could hook my scanner up to it and go into my PIDS and it was rediculous watching the mass air flow jump around...Uh...I can't remember what number they were. I had to change the springs..I had to borrow a tool from ford....They were a bear to change!

  • Nice man..What kind of problems did you have getting it to idle smooth like that? Who did you programing? I put a set of comp cams in my 01 I had 5 or 6 years ago when they first came out...BIG mistake...they were still grinding and not using blank cores...It was a nightmare..I eventually had to put the stock ones back in..No one made extended lifters...or nothing.

  • being that it's a custom set of cams I wanted something that would make power without shaking the fillings out my teeth. I believe the 112* LSA & the tune helps with the idle. Monty from JMS did the tuning. He actually rewrote a tune b/c the 1st shop that tuned (in this video is the 1st tune, you can hear the car bucking) it gave the car horrible drive ability, now it drives like stock... just doesn't run like it.. Sorry to hear about your troubles, that sucks!

  • Ha...I defiantly know what you mean there man. The initial start with the one I had the lifters raised cain man..I mean bad enough to where it really made me nervous about letting it run. They told me to shim them out with a washer up underneath the lifter..I'm thinking I have to do all this over AGAIN..and thinking to myself man this sounds like a cheap assed way of doing something. So I tried it..helped very little..got aggrevated..took em out got my 500 bucks back and was pissed lol.

  • hope you didnt get n/a cams if ur going to spray, they arent exactly nitrous friendly lol. good luck with car, im in the process of doing something similar to what you got done.

  • if you go with a nitrous specific cam the car will be a dog on the motor. You really only need a N2O specific cam for anything over a 200shot. Below that you're just pissing in the wind. Good luck with your setup.

  • yes I did. Most people don't notice (or don't comment on it), it gives it a clean subtle touch IMO.

  • the fronts are cut 4 cyl springs (don't remember how much) with no isos. The rears are (dead coil cut) C springs with isos

  • sounds like it's gonna be a beast. I have some track videos. On the motor it went 12.4 @ 111, on a 100 shot I couldn't get the track to hold the car on nittos. Went 11.9 @ 120mph. I'll be back out when it cools off, shooting for some 11.3-.4 on a 100 sot. Eventually I'll bump it up to a 150 or 200.

  • You would want to start with the engine first, the exhaust is the icing on the cake, besides the exhaust ain't goin to get the car moving. Cold air intake, throttle body and intake, for the cheaper of the mods. You can find them on ebay, what truck do you have?

  • mustangs are some of the best sounding v8s. A 2v gt mustang is going to sound good. its one of the best sounding mustangs. The car in the vid has a built engine.

  • pulling the motor out just took a few hours, getting it back in with the longtubes took a little longer.

  • lol I have 500hp with that stock intake. It's crazy because I didnt think it would last. My whole motor is stock running 15 psi but im gettin it built before I really mess something up. Nice car

  • ford should quit fuckin around and come out with a 6.0-6.2 Liter V8 with 400-425hp stock... Dodge, Pontiac, and chevy have made that decision...

  • without a doubt, Ford could have definately started with a better platform, but just had to make do and do the best with what I had. But to be honest, my dad has a Challenger SRT8 (one the 400-425hp cars that you mentioned) and my car NA is still a full second faster than his.

  • the original engine was great, I wanted to go faster so I bought a built engine. A macineshop too it upon there self to take it apart and rehone it, which made the cylinders too big for the pistons, so it sounds like a diesel with the piston slap.
