When I change my folder's icon and drag it onto the dock it changes back to the boring blue one.. Is it not possible to have costomized icons for folders on the dock?

The icon I found it not from apple, but this shouldn't be a problem right?

If you have developer tools installed, you can just use Icon Composer.app for the icns.

I find Candybar works the best out of all the icon modifying applications. It backs up all the icons it modifies so if you make a mistake, you can undo it easily.

In Windows (it's supported in just about every version of windows since 95) you can use a regular old bitmap as an icon. It doesn't work with jpeg, or PNG, but you can open a jpeg or png image with paint and save it as a bitmap which you can then set as an icon for a folder or whatever.

I use both fasticns and liteicon to make icons, been doing it for quite awhile like that.

fasticns is very simple to use, but liteicons gives you more options, for example i have it so when my trash folder is empty it's r2d2 and when it's full it's Darth Vader.
