I feel like Oracular Spectacular is their more popular album. I like them both, but I might say I prefer Congratulations. I feel like Oracular Spectacular has more singles that have gotten huge than Congratulations. How are people saying Congratulations is more mainstream?

These people suck. Musically, not to sound cliche but, the newest album is on par with the Beach Boys Pet Sounds. It is the greatest album I have listened to in a long time.

i feel like mgmt released the 2nd one to kill their popularity so they could do what they wanted instead of doing what people who like there singles and stuff want. which is awesome cuz that means they aren't likely to sell out. i also don' think they expect there first album to get that big so they didnt know what to do when it did get that big. dont get me wrong i love both albums to me they are perfect albums but now they are coming out with the new album titled mgmt to kill the popularity.

i also prefer the 2nd. It's more original, creative and challenging. It's slightly less rock n roll and more experimental, But I agree with what andrew said Andrew, it's not that different.

Yeah because Kids and Time to Pretend aren't commercial at all.....

I'm not saying they're bad. Just much more commercial than anything on Congratulations.

I think the first album is better overall. It's both timeless and immensely creative...yet also quite accessible. However, I love the second as well...and I think Siberian Breaks is probably their best song ever. Great band either way.

Pretty good interview too. It's nice to hear Andrew's take on the first album...that string of adjectives fits well...cosmic, naive, tribal, youth obsessed, and post apocalyptic
