The Black carts are rated at about 450 prints. Kodak has made inkjet printing about the same or even less than b/w laser printing. My next printer is going to be a Kodak.
This commercial is misleading. Kodak charges less for printer ink, but their ink cartridges run out faster than other brands. Also their printers refuse to print black and white when there's no color cartridge, which is ludicrous. I'm never buying a Kodak printer again.

@KodakTube My printer is refusing to do anything without the color cartridge.
My color cartridge actually had ink in it, but the moment I replaced the black ink cartridge the printer said it was empty.
I replaced the black ink cartridge because the documents I was printing were severely faded. It wasn't until later that I learned this was due to a clogged printer head, which I cleaned with isopropyl alcohol.
I somehow managed to get the printer to print a single page of a black and white document, which turned out fine, but then the printer continued to refuse to do anything (even scanning is impossible, which uses no ink) without the color cartridge despite me choosing "black and white" only.
@KodakTube I did e-mail you, and the customer service rep told me to buy another color cartridge. I'd rather buy a different printer brand instead of being extorted.

I ONLY PAY £15, $23. for my canon i560 ink. (that for a black and 3 colour seperate inks tanks) beat that Kodak!!!!
