Is this actually a good simulator (unlike previous NFS games)? Is there online play? Is the physics real-world or close to it? Is it possible to modify settings like gear ratios, spoiler angles, camber, etc.?

It's a semi simulation. Similar to Grand Tourismo. The Physics are kind of strange but still it's fun. Don't expect a rFactor, Live for Speed, GTR2 though. Yes you can make setup changes.

the car handling seems fucked up...in this video are at least 2-3 situations where the car HAS to spin...but obviously it doesn´t though the driver does not contra-steer, or, if he does, so its too late to catch up the car.

what i wanna say: this is way too much arcade. I don´t wanna be misunderstood; don´t want to say that SHIFT is arcade-game...but when it was said that this should be serious racedrivingsimulation...i can´t see much of it.

When you go to an other gear, you can see that he isn't using his gearpanel at his steer.. That's really faky.

well im not soulfire, and im not tryin to bash the game as it looks great, but i can name a few, and they are gran turismo 3, 4, and 5 prologue. simple as that. once gran turismo 5 the full game comes out, it will shatter our thoughts of what we thought a true racing game was

Its a fun and good game to me ;) especially if you get further in the game. The cars handle better for example when you get better cars (duh).
