This is an excellent counter Sir. Could you do a video where you explan how to manipulate your opponent to kick at you, so that you have the opportunity to use this counter?
Would you bait your opponent to kick you short or long?
Would you squeeze into an uncomfortable distance to make him kick or would you feint until he does?
@KobraKai2 one move that my master taught me was while sparring, try and do a roundhouse then say a back kick, but these kicks are somewhat light and are only bait. So after your back kick, you bring your kicking leg back to make your opponent think you are done with your combination, so he starts his own attack, where you can then launch a back kick or spinning hook kick counter
@flashpeter91 I too find getting the kick high enough to attack the face to be a challenge. However, I do find that the opponent more times than not opens up his midsection as he dedicates to the round house kick. This leaves a nice big target as well. A nice fast back-reverse to mid-section as opposed to the higher whip kick to face. The high whip kick to the face is my total nemesis - I am forever hopeful to get this kick working well enough to effectively add to my sparring arsenal.
@flashpeter91 Honestly, keep practicing with what you got while still stretching. I can't do the splits but I can kick above my head etc. I don't even come near to doing the splits etc. It's baffling to some people. I just work with what I got, stay positive and find a way to pull it off.
