Assyrians and the Syrian Orthodox both use "Classical Syriac" for their services-however, they use slightly different alphabets and have slightly different pronunciation. Assyrian (or Eastern Syriac) is the more authentic form. The Syrian Orthodox pronounce the Allap as an "O." Of course the modern dialects of Aramaic-Modern Assyrian Aramaic and Turyoyo (or Suryoyo) used by the Syrian Orthodox are different from Classical Aramaic.

I am an american convert to Orthodoxy, I love being in a spiritual family with Christians around the world Thank you for broadening my mind and heart, you enrich my heart and soul.
Finally someone who enunciates the entire prayer! 99% of the aramaic prayers on youtube are sung with music so you can't break down the words and pronunciation. Well done!
Prof. William J. Fulco: "Preserve the Aramaic language and traditions at all cost! DO not let the splendid Aramaic become endangered. It is wonderful language that links us back to Jesus and centuries of Christian history. To lose that connection would be a tragedy."

The closest we can get to the Aramaic of Jesus is the Aramaic of the Dead Sea Scrolls-which are contemporary with the life and public ministry of Jesus. Sebastian Brock in "The Hidden Pearl" reconstructed the Lord's Prayer with the DSS and it is very similar to the Syriac. Maurice Casey has done the most work with using the Dead Sea Scrolls to reconstruct the words of Jesus with "Aramaic Sources of Marks Gospel" and his book on Aramaic and the "Q" document. Western Aramaic is spoken in Maloula.

Jewish Aramaic of the Holy Land in the first century was very similar to Syriac Aramaic. This is discussed in "The Hidden Pearl" by Sebastian Brock. Syriac Aramaic comes from the city of Edessa which is now Urfa, Turkey. Syriac Aramaic and the Aramaic of Dead Sea Scrolls are helpful in reconstructing the words of Jesus in His Aramaic language.
