Stop hating on him, if the other team is such a bunch of retards that they don't pull out their own mortar, they well deserve to be raped. No weapon is really OP when you play as a team. Also keep in mind, that assault rifles are stronger in close range-combat than a machine gun, while a machine gun is more the middle to long range weapon. And a mortar is for staying back and laying pressure on the enemy. Do you think, in war people run around with a mortar in close combat? is it a melee weapon?

i play sniper a lot on BF3. I used to think that it sucked and i would always play engi or assault. Then one day I journeyd high into the hills of operation firestorm. I counter the mortar all the time. :P With another mortar. Do it enough and you can shut them down, trust me, they get tired of dying eventually and stop using it. Same way you kill snipers, go to sniper, and snipe them back until they stop. Guess what I'm trying to say is that you need a little skill with each class, so that you can at least counter when you have no other options.

Every time a mortar is fired the operator's position is revealed with a large "mortar" symbol on the mini-map. The also cannot move out of the line of fire. Their vision is also very obscured by the enlarged mini-map. These things leave them much more vulnerable than a camper.

BF3 doesnt have snipers. They have Marksman. Soldiers who use sniper rifles to kill up to 500 ft. +/-. Snipers are 98% Recon, 2% Shooting. Support
