  • Pvu bones owns this.

  • This is just Spirit of Atlanta with a college uniform.

    LA NOIR!

  • Some good playing here, might check out some of our videos of Lynn Nicholson.

  • Oh the idiots arguing about this video. Do you even matter to those trumpet players? Nope! That's what I thought.

  • it must suck when all you can do is play high bright and out of tune

  • UNBELIEVEABLE........I ALWAYS wanted to go to JSU...ONLY b/c of their marching band!!!!!

  • Notes arent that high.

  • Squatting while you play does not result in a higher note. Just sayin'

  • @TaKKun1123 They aren't squatting per se, they are tightening their core muscles to put more pressure on their air, which makes it come out just a little easier so they can hit the high note.

(per se meaning through itself, JUST SAYING)

  • from a former Marching Southerner...BLOW SOUTHERNERS!

  • Gf Blue Devils wheres Scott Dean now bitch--

P.S. their are like 15 leads so lets say bye to note accuracy

  • Sometimes I wonder if they were told to lean back so much haha

  • @chrism4n14 some people argue that leaning back like that helps get high notes out

  • @Jwrightthethird and it makes you look freaking awesome.

  • 1st trumpet holds over on purpose so it rings out..

  • @TheVinnyXrs ...exactly.

  • Holy crap. Great job guys.

  • Holy crap. Really good job. Hung over a little, but honestly guys, what first trumpet doesn't hold over on high notes on accident sometimes? Haha we've all done it.

  • they can play loud but wow so dirty

  • sounds GLORIOUS!

  • man this would be loud

  • like if you thought you were gonna see jackson state university

  • Why aren't half these people in drum corps??

  • @BrassKate Most of them were/are. A lot from Spirit of Atlanta.

  • sounds awesome, imagine how much better it will be without hangovers

  • @TSquared2001,The timing in Jacksonville State's video is sad, the articulations are all over the place, and they can't seem to all want to release at the same time. But you're right, this is reaaaally clean. Box 5.

  • @rimroka21 thats bcuz all screamers hold over lol its so everybody knows their screaming get a break this is insane

  • only thing better was if darth maul's body parts fell in the middle of them at the end of it.

  • SO good, can't stop listening if only my trumpet section was up to playing this.

  • link to sheet music?

  • naw this aint the sonic boom of the south, but i can't lie. This trumpet section can slaughter them.

  • This owns so much!!

  • im not sure why people think they need to crouch or bend down to squeal out High Notes...all it takes is tough core strength and use of the Diaphragm! but regardless still a badass sound

  • im not sure why people think they need to crouch or bend down to squeal out High Notes...all it takes is tough core strenght and use of the Diaphragm!

  • what college is this...only jsu i know is jackson state university but thats a showstyle band...sounds really good though..

  • @dbaile2 It's that college's trumpet line

  • @eneumann7755 naw cant be..the jsu band Ive seen is an HBCU marching band..

  • @dbaile2 Well, I don't know what HBCU means, but I've actually talked with them and played with them with my band, so I'm pretty sure they're the college's trumpet line.

  • @eneumann7755 HBCU=Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

  • @dbaile2 JacksonVILLE State University. In Jacksonville, Alabama.

  • 20 people play clarinet

  • i see jsu but i also see reed, WHAT COLLEGE IS THIS!!!!

  • Wow They Sound great

  • Who doesn't like screaming trumpets?

  • they think they beastin hahah

  • OMG LOOK AT ALL THOSE TRUMPETS!!!!!!!

  • Haha JSU Trumpets, yall make me happy. Down here at FSU we're good, but we're not made up of majority drum corps like yall. We hold it down though!

  • @chronic480 FAIL

  • This isnt the JSU I was looking for, I want Jackson State University.

  • omg beasting

  • my ear pussies just had an ear orgasm!

  • @ManUnitedFreak94 eargasm

  • This is officially the definition of 'awesome crap'. Hangovers and all sorts of things your not normally supposed to do. But at the same time, it all comes together and its fricken awesome. It gives me the chills :)

  • Great!

  • @bamasoxtrumpeter93 Dude, a bunch of bands have played in the London New Year's Day Parade.

  • @mizukage7668

No. It isn't just the New Year's Day Parade. Yes, a college band is invited to that annually.

JSU is playing at the Queen of England's Diamond Jubilee Celebration as the official ensemble representing the United States.

JSU was also recognized by congress for their 2009 patriotic show, has been mentioned in "The New Yorker," and is universally recognized by professionals as being one of the top marching bands in the country.

  • omg this is such shit yet it's so awesome at the same time

  • awesome!

  • Man I wish I could play with them, I get told to shut up way too much lol.

  • What are those chords at the end? Do you know the notes?

  • No thts not Jackson state

  • these guys must be on some weed. cause they is sky high!

  • this isnt jackson state is it

  • Western Carolina's 63 member trumpet section would blow these guys away.

and also show you how to make a good tone in the upper register :)

  • No double C???? JK I know that's asking a lot haha, bust seriously, i want to hear it.

  • No double C????

  • This is Jacksonville state university, Al

  • grrr. stupid ragged-ass releases ruin this beauty.

  • they got some danm range. you hear those high notes??? Im so excited now to start marching season again even though it just ended!

  • dammmmmmmmmm u guys are really good huge trumpet line by the way

  • although they do have some bad tone and all that stuff. All the people who are posting those comments about their posture/playing, WHERE IS YOUR VIDEO OF YOU PLAYING THIS WITH PERFECT POSTURE, NO MISTAKES AND YOU PLAYING IT LIVE ONE TAKE?

  • As "right" as some people may say it is, I do and always will think that letting the high notes hang over sounds bad.

  • Sounds like a bad HBCU band.....keep it up!

  • @rimroka21 Not hardly

  • @rimroka21 No hardly. Way too clean

  • keep your back straight!!!!

  • what does STL mean ?????

  • amazing

  • I'd hate to be part of that band, cause everytime they play this, i would have to clean my bibbers after the game.

  • goosebumps... shivers down the spine... this is ALMOST as epic as blue devils spacechords - and yes i realize theres a huge difference between DCI and college bands hahahaha

  • what university is this..

  • there's supposed to be hangovers people! thats what you do when you scream high notes!! =D

  • Omg.. HANGOVERS!! but cool :D

  • i wish i was in here

  • typical trumpets

  • that went hard.....just work on that cutoff and thats tight

  • this made me band-gasm so super hard

  • Jesus Christ, I wan't to be there

  • MUSIC-GASIM OMG

  • AWESOME High trumpets!!

  • we played this in 8th grade, is this a collage?

  • @SmilingInMySleep1 you didn't sound like this in 8th grade. and yes, it's COLLEGE.

  • I think it's funny how you can pick out exactly which players are playing the screaming notes because of them leaning back

  • i thought this was the black JSU. but hot damn. yall murked off.

  • I think someone should be playing this in the pedal tone register.

That would be a whole lot nicer than highpitched squeals all the time.

  • @dragonyoshi That's the beauty of playing 1st trumpet. that's what you do. They are the highest brass instrument other than a piccolo trumpet, it's what they are supposed to do. Btw, it wasn't squealing, it's called screaming. Squealing= little eighth grader trying to play higher than he can, screaming equals freshman to whatever playing good sold high notes.

  • @wannaplaytrmptjmu I think you missed my point entirely.

It'd be nice if there was some bass to this, is what I'm saying.

Ya know..Someone who can nail some hard pedal tones and play them louuuud.

  • @dragonyoshi Yea, I agree. I like bass, but still, it is a trumpet ditty. Even if you had some of these guys pedal tone, it's hard to make really loud pedal tones on trumpet.

  • No offense but that sucked... When it goes up then the low note then from the to down, the low note was to high, plus bad sounds....

  • if you cant hear that triple c then you are deaf or just have no ear for music what so ever.........wonderful guys

  • Yeah you can hear the C its really faint though. Nice vid lol

  • Oh my god. Think of all the stuck-up trumpet players. That be like hell.

  • Any good player watching this will have shat themselves laughing at this medley of crap. Playing high is good IF you can do it in time, with power, with attack, without every other person hanging over and in tune. Also the tonal quality is shockingly bad. A big grade A failure all round then girls.

  • @jsmish1967 normally i would agree, but this is just stuff they do for fun.

  • @detaono point taken.

  • @jsmish1967 it's for fun, they're trying to screw around, that's what after game ditties are for.

  • where can i get this music?

  • I play trumpet in 7th grade... and i can pop off a high C occasionally... with alot of effort ^^ and i was wondering wht double A's and double B's as well as double C's r? anyone wanna help me out? Also, any tips on increasing my range?

  • @Pumadude4 well the double c's you here are the c one octave above the high c, which is one octave above the middle c (the third space on treble clef). tips on increasing range, i would say practice extensively in your upper register, while not sacrificing your lower range. Practice practice practice is the answer. And more air. I'm in 9th, and the highest i've hit was only a double F#.

  • are those all trumpets o.O? dayummm

  • I also lawl at the conductor who thought they would go with his dynamics. hahahahahahaha. triple forte is the only volume acceptable for that arrangement

  • Dude, those high notes from trumpets!!!!!! Great!!!!!

  • my eardrums burst at the glory of this. lawl.

  • awesome what grade? im a junior and my g's arent wearin me out much but a few b's and c's and im done for a while lol

  • @supermegaguy666 Too many poor comment votes. It's a great arrangement, but there are too many trumpets, or not enough precision.

You can't do the song justice, no matter how high you go, if there's nothing in the lower register to back it up.

  • Very beautiful

  • @foxbodymustangboy89 damn. im in 9th grade but the highest ive ever played was

F above high C and i can do it only every once in a while

  • @mutantkaled your just moody becuase you cant hit those notes, lol.

  • Can't say as I'm moody - I bet none of those people can get double pedal octaves sounding fat and in tune... doing hourse of warmup studies with pedals, slurs etc. is what makes a good player, not screeching with bad tone. And I can get the majority of those notes - but not all - because I haven't been studying for long. With the right sort of technique and practice though playing up there should be effortless.

  • @mutantkaled i doesn't even matter they're having fun... obviously something you cant understand. High notes are more impressive to people (the audience) because it seems like it would be harder to hit so calm down

  • You're funny...

  • @silfner1 how so? I'm being taught good technique by some of the best musicians in the country - not that I'm good enough to deserve it, I'm just lucky.

  • @mutantkaled you're right i worked on my lower notes first and the my section leader went high first, ive got good pedals and almost a full octave top and bottom on him, low notes make the high notes a lot easier, effortless is a bit overboard though, first your lips need muscle memory of how each note feels in tune, then they come out easy

  • @mutantkaled Let my tell you something my band director told me. "You've gotta play low to play high." That means you can't be a master at the upper register until you master the lower. So what that means is that a good majority of these musicians are most likely very skilled at pedal tones. And as far as "taking more balls to play low than to play high", being a trumpet player yourself, you should know that is a load of bull.

  • @silfner1 My band director tells me that all the time!

  • I guess it's not just my band director then. My warm up every day is just going down to the low F# and then down to the pedals and I do that chromatically over and over, then I start playing higher. I'm section leader at my school, and the two things I always say to my section are "loud and proud" and "you've gotta play low to play high." If you live by those two rules you will be an excellent trumpet player.

  • @mutantkaled You say you're being taught by some of the best musicians in the country? Who are you talking about when you say that?

  • @Jefman513 not your country; mine - Australia. Yoram Levy, John Foster, Joe Cook; Michael Bertoncello; Sean Priest and probably more that I can't recall right now.

  • @foxbodymustangboy89

so? i can play double C's as well

  • my high school band plays this

  • so?

  • this is great. highest note i picked out was double A!!

  • this is amazing the screamers did a fantastic job, I wish I could be in something like this

  • what college and/or school is this?

  • dci

  • jsu... not dci

  • i knw, i was just saying dci

  • 5 leads screaming on g's!

0:43 u can here 2 of the leads play double B double C haha

  • oh my fucking god

  • god its such a scream fest

  • tone issues, timing problems, terrible attacks and hangovers... and that is what makes this fantastic.

this is the kind of music you dont have to play "well."

    you just play.

  • @surfinbari its just a ditty, its all about how loud it is :D

  • @surfinbari good observation

  • @surfinbari

this guy thinks he know what he is talking about

  • Is there any possible way i can get the music to this???? I'm gunna be section leader next year and this would blow everyone away including the directors. And I agree with

pyscofrawg. If your not in the music you should enjoy it not criticize it.

  • I hopes to clear somethings up, I was in this. Yes there was a double C written at the end but lets be real, the show that year was hard enough as it was, and there were FAR more double G's and A's in the actual show than in this particular ditty. Secondly, it was meant to sound exactly as it does, hangovers and releases and such because that is what the kids at the exhibitions love to hear. And come on, who doesn't love to hear a nice hold over every once in awhile?

  • That is a stinking HUGE trumpet line. This is amazingly epic.

  • dude you're a dumbass. this is a ditty. AFTER the show.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah lol. they play this shit for the fun of it

  • there is a dubba c. at the end.

  • its an overtone

  • Hmm..

  • EPIC!!! lol

  • Nice upper register, but clean it up!

  • just plain badasss! sick trumpet section...leads screamin on Gs i love

  • wow, that sounds very nice. and to think i might be going there in Fall 2010... CAN'T WAIT!!!

  • damn

  • I played trumpet in the southerners in 99-00....wish we could've played this!

I love how some people are critical of individuals when you've got 50 players of all skill levels trying to stay together. We weren't all professional musicians but we had a ton of fun.

  • It doesn't take a pro to have good cut offs and sequencing, too many people trying to be hero's here is all I see

  • im proud to say tht im also a trumpet player n HS tht can go another octave ova these notes on a beginner mouthpiece n im pretty sure there r othas

  • those high stacked notes are double g's. so unless you think you can play a triple g (which is just above the 7th ledger line btw) you are mistaken.

  • Comment removed

  • I think i hear a double a but not a double c..it doesn't seem like it would fit the chord.

  • there's not triple c. btw. unless it is an overtone. which is possible i suppose.

  • Yeah, I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like every time there is a big chord around an octave of overtones can be heard

  • I don't think their in tune enough for overtones...
