@darkness1544 The set up on his tC is a Short Ram Intake. It's better than an OEM air box which comes with a vehicle. It is not a CAI however. Weapon-R, the manufacturer, makes a kit that is basically a hose that connects to the intake and connected to the front of the car; grill, or bumper. The hose allows the intake to draw in cold air from an area not located, or at least further from the engine bay. Air around the engine bay is hot. I hope this helps answer your questions, have a good one!
hey wuts up. i i have a cai and i noticed that the water that gets in through the crack of the hood is water that leaks on the air filter. have you noticed anything like that?
oh shit man which one is better a shortram or cold air? i wna get the pipe that goes down to make my weapon r intake into a cold air but dnt wana have to deal with the hassle of taking of my wheeland fender liner just to change it back to short ram intake for those rainy days. Which one is better ? SRI or CAI?
dude it took me FOREVER for the ram air set up. i actually removed the entire bumper and the right-side panel(for fog lights) and have the hose connected to the opening. it creates a nice little pocket.
im assuming the ram air kit couldnt hurt since most the air filter itself still sits as a short ram... it should theoretically have benefits as it allows access to colder air upon gaining a bit of speed. i just finished installing it tonight so i'll test it tomorrow
can't go wrong with weapon r, i had a similar short ram like this on my R18 civic, sounded nice, but I recently upgraded to the si as soon as I was in a good financial situation
sweet! I just installed my intake yesterday. the wepon R is a great buy. And it seems like you installed it better then me. Your rubber hose we got seems longer then mine for some reason. I guess i need to adjust it more.
there is NO difference really from a SRI to a CAI. the difference between the 2 is too minimal that its not even a factor.
and there isnt any torque loss with an after market intake unless your filter is highlt restrictive. dont blame it on the intake its all about the filter...
hey brianbeme80, i put an intake on my 05 tc, and felt like i lost torque, it may have been the intake i installed, and i too disconnected my bat for a bit to rest the ECU (the computer). Also the high end HP was better but not worth the torque loss. did you notice a difference either way
Do you feel any difference when driving it after you got done putting the intake in? I have a 06' Scion tc and was thinking about getting an intake for it. let me know man. thanks.
My check engine light has never been on after my intake. You need to disconnect your batery when installing the intake to reset something, Im not sure what that something is called though, I forgot. After is it installed, reconnect the battery and let the car idol for about 10 minutes so it can pick up the new air flow. If you didn't disconnect the battery, that could be why the check engine light is on.
@brianbeme80 My check engine light came on to and thats all you have to do to get it to turn off is disconnect the battery and let it sit and the start it and wait and it sould fix it?
CEL is Check Engine Light. youll get it if you did something wrong with the install, like if its on a bit crooked or if the MAF sensor is set a little odd....
@harnicodj CEL means Check Engine Light, it comes up to notify the driver of some malfunctions within the car, what you might be experiencing if you installed an intake is the MAF sensor errors, either its not connected or not working properly
Thanks! It is short ram. It doesn't rain much in Vegas, but I do drive it when it rains. I had a short ram on my old car for 4 years, never had a problem during rain. I think it ran better cause of the cooler air.
i believe the weapon r is a combination of both...im not entirely sure..but i read up on it, and to what i understood...the weapon r combines the features of both a cold air intake and a short ram
is this better than a cold air intake? whats the difference?
