  • I don't think this anxious behavior is funny, in any way, but am really glad to hear he's doing better. Hope he's still okay.

  • My shepherds look just like yours! We rescued a couple of shepherds and the last one has ADD I really believe this. I wouldnt trade her for anything though. Our Lady bug as we call her sucks her baby doll too :>) Love those shepherds!

  • my dog had problems with anxiety ALOT. everytime i took her outside she would get so overstimulated it felt like she didnt know what was going on. what i did is make her play fetch up and down the stairs till she ran off all her anxiety and slept. a couple of sessions of this for like 2 weeks and she now is calm out there.

  • clearly needs to go on a walk

  • awwww she looks just like my german shepherd, Missy

  • My German Shepherd is a rescue dog, and she paces like that all the time. She also is very vocal, always wimpering and whining as communication even if nothing is wrong.

Isn't it amazing, the difference in behaviours between a rescue dog and a non-rescue?

  • @SilverGreyEyes - Yes mine wimpers also. It has been 3 years + since this video. He is much better but still and will always have his pacing issues when he is excited or nervous. Like you said, the behaviours are much different from rescue and non rescue. But worth it. He is such a loyal and loving pup.

  • @peanutbuttergirl101

My family's only ever adopted rescue dogs. To see the difference in their behaviours when they know they're in a loving environment, and they won't be harmed is so beyond worth it.

Our GS, the first day we brought her home she buryed all her food & toys out in the backyard, preparing for being homeless again. It took her over a year before she realised that wasn't going to happen, and she brought it ALL back inside, which was lovely yet disgusting!

  • he's gonna puke any second! ;p

  • That can't b good

  • The dog is desperate for a walk

  • Okay, throw the ball already!

  • Nice to see a rescued dog. And looks like you have Bose 901s in the background.

  • I think he wants to pee... at least that's what my dog does when he wants to pee.

  • wants to go outside :-)

  • ...HE'S GOT BILLS TO PAY and JUST GOT LAID OFF

  • @Arlind86 ROFL!!

  • Maybe he has to go to the bathroom or he just doesnt like the show or other things paceing through his mind worring him xD

  • that poor german shepherd

  • I like to think that german shepard is hitlers accosiate in a war room pacing up and down.

  • DID YOU SMOKE WEED AGAIN ?!

  • Okay, Where's the funny part?

  • she looks like a lion trapped in a small cage. Why would you think this is funny, i don't get it.

  • ooowwwww i need to pee real bad LET ME OUT !

  • "I just dont know what to do anymore, how am i gonna pay for all those bills, omgomgomgom I just dont know anymore"

  • real figure 8s

  • She does have anxiety, but it's probably because she was rescued....as long as it's not making her freak out, or raising her heart rate, she's ok. You can always give her this Vet's Best Relaxed Dog Travel Calm Formula. I would tell owners with anxious animals to use it on their petss before i'd groom them. NEVER a sedative, but a calming aid that's 100% natural would help!

  • soo cute! i have a german shepard of my own, she is 16 weeks now! go on my youtube channel to see videos of her! just search saniahabiba

  • Maybe he's thinking..WHERE IS THE BALL?!!!

  • he\she looking for the ball

  • One word, EXERCISE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do you ever have mysterious puddles?

  • I'm sorry, I have a rescue GSD as well, and I'm sorry to say this, but the video wasn't funny in the very least. I expected to see the dog to chase a laser pointer or do a silly trick but the dog pacing in a cramped area was not humorous. Plus when he picks up speed you can tell he is anxious about something, did he have to go to the bathroom or something? All in all... Not a humorous video :/

  • Perhaps he is waiting for something? XD They are both adorable ^_^

  • ..i dont know what actually is wrong with dog, but from he's eyes it looks like he isnt making fun , he looks so so traped i dont know.... when my gsd plays and are acting silly you can clearly see from eyes that dog are having fun, but sorry your dog looks suffering just because i want to help anyway its possible from this side of cable, i suggest to buy some sort of tranquilizer for dogs, and let him be in quet and calm place until he gets better, good luck and bst wishes.

  • youll find that this dog was originally kept in a cage that was as big as the limits it is now displaying. that kind of memory long burnt into its mind would be almost impossible to clear.

  • You should probably change the title if you don't think its funny. This is horrible but I am glad that you got help for the animal. Good job!

  • Your dog is suffering from extreme anxiety. Take it to the vet smart guy. NOT FUNNY AT ALL!!!

  • @14badfish Geez use your reading capacity and note that this is a rescued dog that has gotten help. Don't be so quick to judge. On the positive side, pepople who car e about animals are on the good list even if they don't read the whole story first. Funny in the title for me is that my Astro is a general Goof Ball aside from his anxiety which is way better now.

  • @peanutbuttergirl101 agreed with peanut butter girl... as long as you care about ur animals and want them to have the best life possible IT IS ok to find that funny because really its like a cenial grandmother doing that

  • @peanutbuttergirl101 How's Astro now days?? Looks like a super high drive dog to me!! Run his butt!! Mine isnt a rescue and he paces if he feels he needs more exercise.

  • @SinnfulSky Astro is doing fantastic. Thanks for asking! 4 years since this video! He still paces a lot when he gets excited or nervous. Because of his past neglect he has permanent compulsion issues. Everything is excessive for him. Allthough we do give him plenty exercise, most of th time he paces more after exercise anyways. After multiple visits with a behaviour expert, we have channeled his behaviour in a more calming one. ( he sucks his stuff toy ). He is a big Mama's boys.

  • @peanutbuttergirl101 speak to Cesar Millan, he will sort it out:)

  • That doesnt look like anxiety. I have a German Shepherd who reacts like this too when he thinks hes going for a walk.. its less anxiety more excitement!

  • @brago1234

Who is the retard? If you knew how to read you would of known I did get help for him.

  • ur place is too small thats y!! need a bigger space for them

  • if he was rescued, and was in a shelter, that area was probably about the size of the run he was in.... it is a compulsive behavior.... i volunteer at a shelter, and have heard stories of the dogs once they are adopted out, they really only stay in one small area of the house, until they realize that they are not confined any more.....

  • Looks like he has to take a shit to me ! doughboy

  • he's like the knight rider light. lol.

  • He's on patrol... guarding the TV

  • my dog does this right before he has to poo :) I hope urs didn't :p

  • best dogs

  • I have a King Shepherd, Husky, Lab mix dog named Terp and he's great! He's a great family and guard dog!

  • Oooo...Looks like an early onset of rabies

  • I used to have a beagle that did that, with the addition of bashing his head on the wall repeatedly.

  • I just got my 4th German Shepherd! He's a male puppy only 9 weeks old!

Paid $1,500 US for him. But he's got such a good temperament!

My other 3 Shepherds treat him like he's their pup!! It's so adorable.

By the way I'm from South Africa.

  • I love GSDs. I have 3 of them, the first one is 11 months old. The second is 1 year, and the 3rd is 2.5 years old!!

Just need lots of training, but theyre excellent dogs. Very gentle, intelligent and loyal!

Do you have 2 of them or more?

  • @startingwindows505 I have 2 of them which you see in the Video. The boy ( Astro ) is the one that was rescued. The girl ( Cayenne ) is the one sitting at the end. Astro is now 5 + years and Cayenne 7. In the video Astro is approx 2.5 years old.

  • He obviously wants you to change the channel.

  • @marshalljimduncan lol! Thats good :) I admit that what was on was not too too good :)

  • @marshalljimduncan "ANIMAL PLANET! ANIMAL PLANET! ANIMAL PLANET! Am I not making myself clear?" lol

  • i love german shepherds

  • @johnbrenners : gee you have serious issues. BTW Married, young, with kids and superman as a husband.

YOU ARE a Looser. I bet you are a pathetic looser in all aspects of your life. BTW Get a life!

  • Thank you for your effort for trying to help this dog. It's very sad to see and know about the abuses that are happening to any kind of animal. I often told myself that one day I need to help out these animals.

  • @johnbrenners : Because they love dogs and want to make a difference in life. It is called not being egocentric. Some people do it with animals other have other causes.

I am sorry to hear you are a person with problems; I don't really have problems in life beside hating abusers. To each their own fights. Good luck with yours.

  • What a beautiful shepherd. I have a three year old German Shepherd. More people need to rescue dogs and give them a better life. They can be rehabilitated....instead of being euthanized because they think that they cannot be adopted out because of bad behaviors that were acquired because some idiot abused a defenseless animal. Let's euthanize the abuser!!!!

  • He is a beautiful boy for what he went through. Good job for rescuing him and giving him a second chance, we need more people like you in this world. And please people, for the love of God, read the summary for this video before you start moaning about how 'this dog needs more exercise', just so you don't make yourselves look more dense than you already are...it is obvious that the dog had a problem, and it is good to hear that he is getting much better!

  • hahah f unny behavior.I got a video of my German Shepherd Barking and biting the lawnmower on my channel :D Thanks.

  • i thank he want to go bathroom

  • Nice dog..

  • damm..thats harsh...good people requierd to take an abondend animal and give her a second chance in life

    is he like that constantly?

  • Geeze, he paces the floor like his daughter is out on a date and isn't home yet and it's10 minutes past the curfew. lol

  • OCD! lol

  • hahaha

  • I really wish people would notice the RESCUE part in my title. This dog was rescued from a bad situation of puppy mill and was confined to a tiny cage for the first 2 years of his life; and this video simply illustrates his behaviour after being rescued and brough to my house in Aug 2007 . I am happy to report that he is doing much better after 2 years+ of love, activity and behaviour therapy with a specialized Vet.

  • @peanutbuttergirl101 i apreciate the work you are doing man, i hope there will be more people like you dude.

  • @peanutbuttergirl101 Was going to comment on this video and give you a bit of a roasting but judging from that comment you obviously know what you're doing with this dog. Great work! :)

  • @peanutbuttergirl101 best dogs

  • the pacing seems to be just a bad habit formed at the puppy mill ,might be able to be broken with time ,and things to do .. they are good looking gsds .//

  • I have owned gsd, the dog needs a place to RUN and Exercise!

  • I've got four males (Aries, Hades, Zeus and Apollo), and I agree with you 100%. They NEED exercise or they stress out and become shy, lose their spark, and get destructive. They also need and love little tasks to perform -- even tasks we may deem as insignificant so are important to them -- like fetch, or tricks to please their Master and/or Mistress.

Toss this big guy a stick ... OUTSIDE!

  • @petite471 i dont think he will be giving up any of those dogs for along time

  • I am a German Shepherd Breeder of 25 years..This dog is clearly showing frustration and is bored. It is not good to see a dog doing this...

  • When my does that that means he has to take a crap.

  • Does this dog get enough exercise?

  • Hey, dude, the dog is bored and antsy........It appears as if he need to play or take a dump. Those are signals to you.

  • lol it looks like he's thinking "where's the bone? where's the bone? where's the bone?" he's beautiful... how old is your doggie if you don't mind me asking??

  • He is 4 1/4 now..he just 3 when this was tapped. All though still quite a goof, he is much better now.

  • What kind of comment is that?! I am not removing your post because obviously you must care about animals BUT PLEASE read description before posting.

Before accusing, educate yourself thus not taking away from your credibility.

  • was this dog caged, tipical activity for a dog that spent a lot of time in a kenne. Glad she found a good home.

  • As soon as I pick up my keys my GSD does about the same thing, he knows we are going out.

  • That's not funny, poor dog is begging for activity

  • lol i think he needs to go out and run more lol the other dog was like make him stop

  • That's one beautiful german shepherd :)

  • Read the description, people, he's a rescued dog.

  • acting silly ??? he behaves like it because there's so little space to move x,x

  • Lol the other one is like dont look at me i dont no,what u have no idea to

  • lol! your dog is totally OCD, like mine! German shepherds are truly the best dogs ever though!

  • When my GSD does this she wants to go outside. Or I've told her we're going outside. She does it just to annoy the piss out of me until I take her out. It's funny

  • Im not much of a dog expert, but pacing is a normal case of being anxious, the german shepherd should be put to work in any way possible for atleast 2 hours a day, whether it be jogging or training, best of wishes that s/he gets over his/her anxiety

  • I don't think it's an anxiety issue necessarily, when my dog knows we're about to go outside he may pace a bit until I grab the leash and whatnot. This dog could just be excited about something...

  • i t hink he needs a walk o-o or he gotta take a sheeettt or pee pee :D

  • Looks like it was kept in a small pen- is that right? Beautiful, looks JUST LIKE my Scooby.

  • why do they do taht mines is six months old she chase her ail all day long i feel sorry for her or is she just being a baby?

  • All depends on the dog. She might be lacking exercise or she is maybe simply burning off puppy energy. GSD's take 3 years to mature

  • Poor thing, I hope he gets over his agitation, with lots of love and help from Mum and Dad I hope.

  • LOL

  • he can't decide where to take a dump

  • what cute doggies you have!

you must be a very good owner!

and when i had a german shephered, whenever he'd do that he'd have a seizor :(

    well awesome video

    5/5

  • hes thinking about life

  • very funny vid!! mines coat so hard to manage!! long haired!

  • beautuful doggy :)

  • nice dogs. very nice coat.

  • :S your dog need exercise!!

  • dude u gotta give your dogs the right exercise they need everyday or at least have them go in the back yard and if u cant do that idk if you're much help by rescuing them but thank you anyway

  • :) It is nice to know some people really care and it must be hard to judge with a video.

But, rest assured, Astro boy here has a huge house to run in, a enormous backyard and walks an average of 6 to 8 km a day. He does this pacing in a field also; tired or not. It is a chronic behaviour due to his tiny cage emprisonmment for 2 years before we got him. This video was filmed the first weeks we got him to send to a behaviourist to help me ease his anxieties

  • your such a good dog owner

  • True. cuz a german shepherd owner loves their dog as family member.

  • not an expert but since he is such a big dog he should be going on daily walks or at least in the back yard most of the day he looks like he wants a larger space the room looks kinda small and to not judging but if u dont have a large space for them and no one can take them on walks and don't get me wrong its nice u guys rescue dogs but you really shouldn't get anymore if they cant get their energy out and possibly soon they will take it out on a piece of furniture or something in your home

  • :) It is nice to know some people really care and it must be hard to judge with a video.

  • ok thats good to see a well trained trainer lol thank you and sorry about the double comment youtube was acting up anyway how has he been doing lately with the chronic behavior problem any better?

  • was it just miss treated? or kept in a small space

  • He was kept in a too small crate for 2 years and severely neglected. He was only bones when we got him and his ears were torn from rubbing against the top of the crate.

Luckily, life has blessed him with perpetual goofy-ness and happiness even though he will probably suffer compulsive behaviour all his life. After two years of having him, he is doing much better and is a BIG mama's boy!

  • i see. do you know much about gsd? mines 11 months and keeps nipping me all the time. she stopped for a breif period but recently started again? it really gets on my nerves but if i push her away she just grabs my arm

  • lol

  • lol the other dog is like "Gee, don't look at me, i don't know what happened either" LULZ

  • WHY IS HE DOING THAT?

  • lol

    Im tripping

  • XDDDD lol tidus

  • This shepherd definitely has compulsive behavior. I recommend lots of walks to the dog run, lots of ball playing, socializing with other dogs, lots of love and affection.

  • oh poor thing :( thank you for rescuing him <3

  • Cute! That is funny!

  • I would name that dog,Rewinde,LOL!

  • That dogs needs exercise...

  • @proudindian27 ------ He is doing that because he lived in a tiny cage for two years of his life NOT because he needs exercise.

  • @proudindian27 HIS a COMPULSIVE GSD ...

  • the dog went kennel crazy =/ that's sad.

  • He need a dog phycoligist it has problems lol

  • he or she can not sit and walk again and again

    this is funing:)

  • poor dog is bored take it out for a walk

  • Please read description before commenting

  • I guess...It needs to pee!

  • Nice dog, but he needs something to do............. I LUV GSDs!

  • Whooa, OCD. But you did say that they were rescues that were used to being in cages. I forget what that cage pacing is called, I just know zoo animals also suffer it. Pretty dogs.

  • lol when u turn the camera to the other dog he's like "well dnt ask me!"

  • Haha, so true.

  • Maybe he has anxiety? I know some dogs will pace back and forth if they are unsure and anxious. take him out for a logn walk when he starts pacing and maybe that will help not only get rid of some energy but help him relax

  • To Deadstarzx

Read the description. He was a rescued dog and probably put in a cage, it's probably been in there so long that it paces back and forth like it did in its cage.

  • To: iStoleYourPC

uhm, I did read the description and being in a kennel consistantly could cause him anxiety. soo talk down to me like Im retarded because Im not.

  • Um.... Talk down to you like you're retarded because you are? Hahaha... Wow... You're stupider than i thought.

  • lol, stupider is not a word :)

  • Damn... We both fail.

  • Der würd mich nervös machen^^

  • ohhhh he did not know where to go that was so funny

  • mine paces like this but only when I ell him his dadyy is on his way home, so he does it like a little kid waiting for daddy to come home, he is just so happy to see him!

  • Good on you for rescuing this shepherd and informing others of compulsive behaviors. Your ignorant commentators need to get themselves a treadmill for their brains.

  • aww XD thats why a german shepherd resembles a boy

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!:D

  • At first glance the german sheppard reminds me of my Yellow Lab when she needs to go out and do a #2...that circling thing sometimes is them trying to tell you they need to go out...then again maybe its just a hyper dog.

  • this dog has too much energy, notice how he cant stay still. this is not a bad thing, but german shepherd dogs need alot of exercise. i have 2 and they exercise the crap out of me every day and they still have energy when i cant move. they need to play fetch and run for atleast 30 minutes

  • Nervous dog...

A GSD is a working dog!You need to give him a job to lose energy.

  • I've got a GSD too and he paces around the room when he's bored, cept mine is more noisy as to let me know he wants to do something! Your boy is gorgeous.

  • Hmmmm it looks like maybe he or she was locked up in a cage for long periods of time in the past...a common thing for animals to do when they are confined is to pace around like that.

  • I bet he just wanted to go pottie. Cute dog.

  • Poor guy, thats a vice.

Looks like he needs a job. High energy GSDs need work and constant learning.

  • wow ur camera comes in good lol

  • That's one hyper dog! He needs to go chase some squirrels or something.

  • Poor thing.

Before I read the description I was thinking "Ouch, this dog has mental trauma or something."

    I hope he's alright.

  • Aww he is so sweet! Regardless of his OCD he looks happy!

My last GSD Sasha had a condition where she had bursting cysts from the age of 2 and Hip problems from the age of 3.

The medication was at least £400 a month including her other medication. The vets said she would'nt live past 5 but she went peacefully at the age of 12. Just goes to show, never give up cause they wouldnt give up on you!

He's a beautiful boy and i wish all the best for you and him!
