  • Roddicks coach sucks dick

  • There's always this talk about his serve and forehand not being the beast that it was. But you have to understand the toll it takes on his arm, shoulder, and joints. The way servers and used to rip those forehands, it's this whip. He's in his late 20's he just doesn't have it in him to put that much strain on his arm.

  • @IKayosI but look at guys like Agassi and El Aynaoui who actually struck the ball harder as they got past 30 to shorten the points so there wouldn't be a strain on their arms and guys like them had their best GS results past 30. Pushing the ball lengthens the points and longer rallies=more arm strain

  • @Deadeye287 I guess but I don't think El Aynaoui or Agassi were ever serving 130+ constantly or taking huge rips like Roddick. And as for Agassi, he was blessed by the tennis gods.

  • @istoryrighter true but at the very least it's sumthing he can look at to help him

  • roddick is my idol!!! whether he plays bad or not!!! he will always be my idol next to safin!!!

  • Everyone Pause at 2:33 lol

  • Everyone always is saying oh its his serve, when really in my opinion its his topspin backhand and net game that need a little more work.

  • @christianranardsings i feel his bh is actually fine, he slices a bit too much for my taste. His volleys are fine. His approach shots are different and his fh needs more work. Imo of course. His approach shots are the reason why it looks like his volleys suck, and his fh needs more power so he can plow through opponents like he used to. Again imo of course.

  • @thisnamealsotaken I will agree that the level of play has increased. But if you just look at the videos of old and new (even without even recorded speeds) Roddick's play has changed. Statistically he now has way less winners (and unforced errors) than before. And Roddick was still hitting a lot of winners against players like Federer in 2004 and 2005 (prime fed), so the level of play didn't dramatically affect Roddick's play. It was a decision made by him for whatever reason.

  • @TheSparkleBrigade it is wierd, because he´s gone from the more offensive player he was 2003-2005, to a more counter-defensive player..maybe he´s altered his string tension or something, for more consistency rather than power on his groundstrokes, i don´t know..

  • I always like to cheer for Roddick, I just want him to win! But unfortunately he doesn't rip his groundstrokes like the good old days. And I heard he got shoulder surgery early in his career (after US open and probably after 2004), so could that be the reason he doesn't rip his serve as he used to?

  • @TheSparkleBrigade ppl always say that about his strokes but what i think they forget is that it just looks like he doesnt rip his strokes cus of the fact that the players from the top 10 now are way bigger hitters than the top 10 of the times when roddick was early in his career. with the obvious exception of agassi, the rest would be outhitted any day by guys like nadal, djok, federer, soderling, delpo. the level is just way higher now and esp faster now.

  • I kinda prefer the times when roddick doesn't attempt to do serve and volley...he rarely succeeds at getting a point with his volleys

  • @futuramaishot yeah i agree.. but i guess he's resorting to this since his groundstrokes are of a lower level than those of most top 10 players

  • roddick serve hardest

    federer serves white most precision

and nadal white allot of spin

  • he needs a good hitting partner, cause stefanki can't freaking rally with him

  • @RobbieCopple i think he used to have his brother as his hitting partner. He is definitely better than ol' stefanki here. Dude looks like he can barely keep up.

  • 0:05 LOL :-)

  • Love andy really good player but he really hasn't tried anything different to win yea he has a grand slam I'm pretty sure if u asked him if he was satisfied he'd say hell no but if u ask me he needs to be more agressive with his forehand like when was younger or make his backhand into a weapon some how its to much of a liability but that's just me

  • it's weird seeing ppl talk about how much ppl say mimicing his serve hurts them. I've been mimicing the serve for years and never felt pain in my shoulder or wrist, granted i've been working out for awhile now.

  • @Deadeye287 you obviously haven't been mimicking it right then. even roddick himself still has to do shoulder and wrist exercises to strengthen the muscle and not hurt himself.

  • maybe a little too much backswing on the volleys? maybe? haha thats just what i'm seeing.

  • @07herrow oh please..

  • @R0flwaffless crap i just noticed i said backswing instead of just swing.

  • @07herrow yeeah.. go ahead and give advice to a grand slam winner, im sure you know a lot more about tennis..

  • @R0flwaffless hahahaha i'm not telling him to DO anything, it's just my thoughts.

  • @07herrow great!

  • テニスをやっている者としては、プロの練習をまじかで見れてとても参考になります

  • If anyone is going to try and replicate his serve ( I did...but only got it to 130 at my fastest) seriosuly consider some shoulder and wrist strengthining excercises. His serve WILL hurt your shoulder if you dont.... even HE still does the excercises.

  • @derekanaya his serve is unique because he has a double jointed wrist- i have no doubt that he does strength exercises for his wrist and shoulder, but the reason why it works for him is because of his wrist.

  • omg. the camera angle at 3:12 is the BEST for looking at how hard he hits that ball

  • is larry hitting with him?

    awful, if thats the case....

  • best athlete

  • best serve, backhand and overhead.

  • lol look at his leg kick up like a donkey when he hits backhands xD

  • Andy is the best!! :)

  • andy roddick has the biggest serve but not the best serve

  • Its not power that makes a player the best. yes he has the record with the fastest serve but only 1 slam? dont think so. look at the pros with tons of majors their serve are slower than roddicks. its not power its placement, action. its not the 1st serve that wins major its how effective the 2nd serve is. also playing hard doesnt win majors playing smart is the key.

  • @gabe9873 Very true, but what can you do with no power at all? Im sure all the pros hit with immense power as well.

  • @gabe9873

playing smart is a key but you also need to play with relentless intensity, and lazer focus, always trying your best.

  • to whoever makes fun of andy roddick, start insulting him when you hold the record of fastest serve

  • one slam is more than most people ever get

  • I love how people laugh at him for only winning one slam! he has only been one of the top ten players for over 5 years, and done more in tennis then anyone on this post will ever do? sort it out people

  • roddick sucks i bet i can beat him he lost to alot of low ranked guys this year!

  • one grand slam hahaha

  • he would be serving shirtless lol

  • his serve doesnt look like a weapon anymor :( he shud just rip it like the old times

  • @wonhoyoung Then he will fuck up his shoulder and retire

  • @wonhoyoung so many players can serve 130+ even 135+ so his serve really isnt as special as it used to be. it sucks to because i roddick is one of my favorite players.

  • @wonhoyoung notice that you are watching a video. it is much different than watching it live because ive went to wimbledon and seen it live. its much faster than u think

  • @wonhoyoung If you've watched tennis matches before, you would be able to tell that he is not hitting it as hard as if he were to do in matches, not to say that the serve speed is already pretty fast. Just look at how fast the balls make the first bounce after he serves.

  • he may not have the best shots on the tour but has one of the best serve on the tour and a pretty good forehand

  • its amazing how he's so good but looks off balance in a lot of his shots

  • Shit cum fuckSend Checks To:

    Match Tough Tennis

    5651 Balboa Blvd.

    Encino, CA 91316

  • He doesn't have the best serve on tour

  • im not going to rate this video, because rodiick does NOT have the best serve on tour. just the fastest.

  • @qwertyriffic roddick*

  • Larry has quite a weird game. He has a modern style forehand that's designed to generate heavy topspin, and a one handed backhand that's totally old school. He's an unbelievable coach though. He REALLY gives you results.

  • he puts so much effort on his backhand that it's actually very gay in contrast with his forehand or serve.

  • the best serve??? naw.. fastest?? hellzz yeah

  • Roddick is by far my favorite player on the tour

  • lol how good a practise can he be having if stefanki is his hitting partner

  • just wondering why he is hitting with stefanki? stefanki is a spectacular coach but this looks like a shitty warmup for a-rod

  • Roddick by far has the fastest serve but Federer's is far better in terms of both spin, speed, and placement

  • thats actually a really tough call to make, if u combine the fact of how fast roddick serves, and watchin his matches he places it very well, also since he can slice, and kick it anywhere with the same toss, not just blast it, and add the fact that federer seems to be able to just know where roddick serves on instinct which is why Roddick barely gets aces on Fed. Roddick actually has the better serve.

  • 1:11

  • I think Roddick should hit a one handed backhand. the two handed doesn't suit him at all. It looks strange somehow.

  • @lkjkhfggd lol he has a solid backhand its always aggresive but its solid

  • @lkjkhfggd. Yes. Roddick should just change his stroke completely.

  • @lkjkhfggd

one-handed backhand works well with players who are quick movers and have a great variety of shots and exceptional touch for slices and drop shots. players like federer.

roddick has none of that, and you honestly think a one handed backhand is going to work better?

  • @foul01 I never said the one-handed backhand would improve his game. All I said is that based on Andy Roddick's gamestyle, it seems in my mind he looks like the kind of guy that would hit a one handed. Thats not based on anything, and it certainly isn't advice. I am very inferior when it comes to tennis, and would love to get lessons from the guy. Just when I see Roddick playing, and going for a backhand, I think that he would hit one-handed, and that two-handed looks weird on him.

  • @lkjkhfggd

if you put it that way, alright.

but really, two-handed backhand is still probably the better choice for roddick

serve and volleyers work better with one handed backhands

roddick serves, he doesnt volley as much or as well. so a two handed backhand is better for his game. it isnt flamboyant or capable of making fancy shots, but at least its consistent

  • @lkjkhfggd Andy just doesn't hit a very pretty two-hander, it's looks awkward at times, that's probably why you think the two-hander looks weird on him.

  • @longhornmed I take back what I said before. After watching some more of Roddicks games, I think his backhand is excellent. It doesn't get much better than that.

  • @lkjkhfggd His backhand has improved a lot over the years. It used to be a big weakness, but now it's more of an underrated strength. But still, it's not the prettiest two-handed backhand out there.

  • daraemkar is a dumb ass. Nobody had better placement that Sampras. He could put his serve on a dime. Roddick has a sick serve but it is not in the same league as Sampras' serve. Also Sampras was the KING of second serve aces. Roddick almost never hits second serve aces.

  • one thing that can be said, is sampras would get many more df then roddick does, dont forget that.

  • roddick=professional

  • @frozensoulxd =homosexual.

  • @JaiCourvoisier that made me laugh :3

  • ugly kid

  • federer=hairy too :D

  • roddick = hairy

  • Why so much top spin on his forehand? Federer has proven that moderate topspin is the way to go... Unless you can rip it as fast as Rafa.

  • i don't think roddick has as much depth that federer has and not as much variety so that may be some part of it

  • agreed. I also don't like his backhand, it always seems like he's going to fall. He doesn't get anything behind it.

  • @LuckyCharms432 Mmmm. I think to be consistently great you have to keep it simple. All these guys who sound like they're giving birth while performing impossible body mechanics fail under pressure. Thank God Federer came along and showed us all the correct way.

  • Yeah, thank god is right. Tennis is beautiful again.

  • @dodododa Some company did a test to calculate the rps of balls that players hit. Federer hits more topspin than any other pro besides Nadal. Also, they debunked the old myth that Roddick serves faster but Sampras used more spin. Roddick serves faster AND with more spin than Sampras did.

  • @daraemkar "Some Company" probably tested them in a staged environment. I'm sure Federer CAN hit with a lot of top spin if someone asks him to. But if you're right, that's pretty amazing being able to generate so much spin with such a simple action.

  • @daraemkar Verdasco gets way more topspin that Federer. Nadal, maybe not. But Verdasco hits way more spin than Federer

  • roddick has a hairy tummy hehe

  • Is Larry hitting with him?

  • whos that moron partner?

  • I have his racquet ! ^^

  • why do people say @(person) when they can just reply?!

  • sometimes its automated and it adds that when u click reply. its weird. had it happen to me a few times

  • @exorcist94 thats a newly added youtube feature.

  • Andy has no mercy against his hitting partner lol.

  • lol shirtless.

  • so how fast do you guys think karlovic's serve would be if he was say, 6'2"? (average speed)

i would say it might still go about 120-130mph.

  • i wanna know if the Pure Drive GT has more power potential then the Aeropro Drive.cause i heard the Aeropro Drive has more spin built in it while the pure drive is built with more power.

  • @teknogeek1995 it really depends on u as a player, and what you're looking for in a racquet. Tenniswarehouse has a channel on utube; u can comment on their page asking about both racquets

  • im a baseline player and i like alot of spin .... im not much of a attacker so i wouldnt rush to the net that much

  • @teknogeek1995

i have an apd. it's the greatest racquet at the baseline i've ever had, the only problem is that it's not a volleying racquet. it's just made for groundstrokes with topspin, which i use

  • thanks dude now i know what to get when i order off of tennis warehouse

  • not a problem; i get most of my equiptment from them. Very good place to buy ur tennis gear.

  • BUT DEMO! or am i too late? yeah before u buy a 200 dollar racquet, demo it. cuz if u dont like it within the first month, u'll b like "wow i just wasted 200 bucks". so DEMO

  • roddick has the most stylisch serve :D

  • BIggest yes, but not stylish IMO. It's very ugly and not fluid.

  • karlovic has the best serve on the tour

roddick has the most powerful serve on the tour

  • if course ivo has the best serve, he serves from a tree.

  • Roddick is a stud!! Babolat 4 eva

  • he really is, just look at his fuckin wife lol

  • LOL roddick's serve? Has everyone forgotten about Goran Ivanesevic's serve?

  • goran could serve the hell out of the ball, but come on man, are u seriousl laughing at the most dominant server of the last 5 years (with the exception of the Croation sensation Ivo Karlovic, but since he stuggles with all other aspects of the game u really cant include him in the conversation). But ya, Roddick can bomb, nuthin to laugh at.

  • Is the backhand not supposed to have the same angle as the forehand? It seems like on his BH, you wouldn't be able to generate as much spin as the FH. DIfferent angles. Am I seeing it correctly?

  • did he just used his left hand, 2:08

  • yup....Sadly I'm left handed and he probably hit that overhead harder than any of mine.

  • Roddick has lost to federer 4 times in grand slam finals. if federer never was born, Roddick would have 5 or more grand slam titles

  • yes, thats true

but if nadal wasnt born, federer would have been the best player on all surfaces!! he showed federer that he isnt invincible!!!!

  • think of all the semi and quarterfinals roddick has lost to Federer too

  • I know, but there's no guarantee he would have won all 5. I'm just saying without Federer to stop him, he would have won AT LEAST one more

  • I'm willing to say that Roddick would've won at least 4. I don't play "what if", but if we take a look:

Wimbledon 04 - He was blazing. To Federer's own admittance, he would've likely lost without the rain delay.

Wimbledon 09 - the final speaks for itself, & he took out Murray in great fashion during the semis.

US Open 06 - His tournament to win outside of Fed.

US Open 07 - That Roddick & Federer QF was of the highest quality. Andy played much better than Djokovic did in the final.

  • @TakeshiMomoshiro i would maybe add wimby 03 to that and maybe the AO 07 too to that list.

  • Ohh yeah. AO 07 is a definite. Fed's opponent was who? Gonzalez in the final, right? I think Roddick would've definitely beaten him, and any opponent Fed stopped along the way. Definitely.

Wimbledon 03's a maybe for me. What I do know is that Philippoussis did not play very well in the final, compared to his level in the rest of the tournament. So Roddick certainly had a good chance.

Both are fair additions, but I'd say that AO 07 was a stronger chance.

  • what about AO 09?

  • well i think Rafa played insanly well to win both the sf and the final, i honestly think Rafa would've beaten Andy in the final in 4 maybe 5 sets convincingly. This coming from a hardcore Roddick fan

  • AO 05 could be a strong possibility if Roddick beat hewitt in the semis to play safin

  • Nah, that's too much of a stretch. If he didn't even make it to the finals, we can't say that he could've won. This was more of a "Slams he would've won if not for Federer" thing. Besides, with the way Safin played Federer, I doubt he'd have backed down against anyone in the finals. Nice to bring up anyway though, that tournament was a great one.

  • @shilohandphoebe

well, and IF my aunt had tits she'd be my uncle...

  • @shilohandphoebe Not to mention he would still probably be number one in the world till this day and be about 40 million dollars richer.

  • @shilohandphoebe depends,,,,

other people wouldve probably filled Federer's void

    in beating Roddick,,,

    i.e. Safin,Nadal, or such....

  • @shilohandphoebe or nadal would have 4 more...

  • @shilohandphoebe

    It s a big IF man :D

  • @shilohandphoebe This is a stupid argument. What makes you think Haas or the other guys Fed beat at the 1/2 final wouldn't beat roddick?

    1. Fed is born - fact

    2. roddick is far from having the best technique on tour - fact

    3. roddick is far from having the best volleys on tour - fact

And I don't mean only Fed outclasses roddick. Nadal, Verdasco, Safin, Djokovic - all these guys have far better qualities than a-rod

  • @DestroyerAlexandros FACT: no one on tour has as much heart and professional class as Andy, when I say heart I mean no one wants to win as bad as Andy does, Nadal does come close

  • @tullster28 most people on tour hate him. It's not like it's necessary to be likable (I'm sure most people hate federer in the locker room) but andy used to be a complete jerk. As Safin said - the three people he's played with all the time since he was 16 were Federer, Hewitt and Roddick. When they started getting all the attention and becoming stars Federer became disciplined, Hewitt became introverted and Roddick became arrogant

  • @shilohandphoebe ......if nadal never was born Federer would have 20 or more grand slams ....;)

  • @Pav01987 his recent form suggests that milestone isnt that far from reality

  • y does he always puff his cheeks when he hits the ball?

  • its a breathing technique. it just gets more power like how you breath when youre weightlifting or sprinting

  • we all do stupid things when we hit, my friend opens his mouth real wide and it just cracks us up

  • yeah dude, my friend sticks out his tongue when he hits its pretty funny

  • lol i bite my lower lip

  • Haha he's good, just good. He's a one trick pony. trick=serve, ground game is a joke

  • oh yes, a one trick pony that won the 2003 US open and made it to 4 other grand slam finals, while "well-rounded" players like Gasquet and Nalbandian are struggling to just get past the 1st 2 rounds. Roddick is not a 1 trick pony. He has one of the best forehands in the game and have improved his backhand and volley

  • True, but he's still not a Sampras unfortunately

  • no, he is not, but you have to give credit where credit is due. If not for Federer, Roddick probably would have at least 2 more slams

  • but when it comes to people like murray, federer, djokovic, roddick (who is my favorite tennis player) cant quite still stack up. this years Wimbledon made me sick

  • what he lacks in skills he makes up with pure determination. Even after losing the chance of being up 2 sets to none, he didn't give up and took it to 5 sets, 16-14. Most players probably would have gone downhill after the 2nd set (like Djokovic). And besides, Roddick's match against Murray was masterful

  • It killed me watching him lose such a hard fought match against federer. If he played like that constantly he would be at least world No. 2

  • yeah...

  • what?? so you're saying that anyone who isnt as good as sampras is a one-trick pony? do you think everyone beneath, lets say, nadal in the rankings should just give up tennis then?!

  • I wish I knew where the hell you got that from

  • Ok, ok

It really was no big deal

  • And your ability to list your rights surpasses any response I might utter

  • Roddick has tried to add more dimensions to his game over the years but its just his technique that gets in the way. His game is actually very similar to Nadal's game, but Nadal's movement around the court is much better and nobody can put spin on the ball like Nadal and grind out a match against his opponents. Roddick doesnt have the best serve ever...its just the fastest and he rarely double faults. Federer's serve is actually better because he places and mixes his serve up better.

  • Roddick's serve is one of the best ever. I would say Sampras has a better one and maybe karlovic. Federer's serve is great, and it gets many aces, but Roddick has a more consistent one. You see Federer double fault quite often. Roddick might not get as many aces, but that's just because it's so fast, it usually forces errors.

  • oh and could i please have permission to use some parts of this video for my video on andy roddick??? pleaseee

  • Hi Jasmine. PM me w/specifics please. Thx.
