@1VanFlyheight1 alright. i was just curious because im going to be getting a 250 next year and i just turned 18..i just wanted to get a general idea of what i would have to be paying for insurance.thanks
Hey, BEAUTIFUL bike. Congrats on the upgrade. When I was looking for my first “new” bike, I had considered the 650r too. I ended up with the ZX6r 2007, and I love it to pieces. ONE thing that would be nice (esp. on LONG rides) is the more comfortable seating position that the 650r provides. Enjoy and I look forward to watching more of your vids. Check out my channel too if you’d like.
@ThaBR33D No, you need to get your own insurance. There are plenty of insurance companies out there tho so f you shop around you can find the lowest rates possible.
@1VanFlyheight1 Well I have my own insurance, but I was just wondering if they make you pay a fee or something if you don't have it insured to moment you leave the door.
@ThaBR33D I don't think they can charge you a fee for not having insurance. It probably depends on your state, and I am not 100% sure, but if you don't have insurance when you leave the dealer you may not be able to get plates for it or register it with the RMV until doing so. I'd call up your local dealer and see what they have to say just to be sure tho
@kar383 I really can't recommend a first bike for ya, but I will recommend that you take the MSF course.
I started out on a Ninja 250r because I didn't trust my immature 16 year old self at the time and I loved riding it. Maybe take a look at a used one? They're cheap and you won't beat yourself up as much if you drop it.
You don't want anything too powerful or too heavy for your first bike. And as I as told - your first bike should not be your dream bike. Best of luck.
@1VanFlyheight1 Would you recomend the ninja 650r as a first bike? I would rather buy the ninja 250 but where i live its 4800 euros and the 650r is 7000 euros, not that much more expensive. The 650r seems like a better bang for the buck but is the bike as easy to control as the 250?
@Gen49671 The 650r can def. be a first bike for someone as long as you are careful. it def. has a lot more torque and power then the 250 and is a lot heavier, but with patience and practice I don't see why you couldn't get it as a first bike. With that said, if I had to go back in time I would still start on the 250 however. It taught me everything about riding and gave me the confidence to buy a bigger cc bike. Best of luck with whatever you decide man :)
I would like to know how your insurance is still that cheap (unless rates are way better in the US compared to Canada but after doin some online quotes id be doin your ninja dance in there office if they told me 400s a year!! lol
@asmith929 haha My insurance is so low becasue I get a few discounts. I insure my car with the same insurance company, I am a Honors student in college, and I took the MSF course. All three things give me a pretty good discounted rate off of what people would normally pay without them. On a side note, the Honors discount just got bumped up to 10% off haha More savings! :D
@1VanFlyheight1 thats awsome man ! well except for the honors student thing (cause well im lazy and not to smart lol) ill do the other two things thanks for the advice!!
Hey man bike looks great, black was a good choice! As it stands thats what im going to save my pennies for. but what other bikes did you look at in that class before settling on the ninja?
@asmith929 Thanks man, black is also the fastest color :P lol
Other bikes I looked at in the same class as the Ninja was the Suzuki SV650. I also looked at the Honda CBR F4I, Yamaha FZ6R, and a bunch of others. Check out my video "Searching for my new bike" to see some of the others and my thoughts on them.
I decided on the Ninja becasue my gut told me it was the right one haha Best of luck saving man, it's well worth the wait!
First of all, congrat's on the new bike. I can't wait to get mine next summer. Do you have "Bags" for the Ninja 650r? If so, do you pretty much install them, like you would if you had "2" seperate seats, like you did on your 600 ZZR? Take care my friend.
Would you recommend this bike as a good first bike? I was thinking about the 250r at first but since I'm a heavy set I came to the conclusion that a 650r would be a good first bike. How responsive is the throttle? is the response a good choice for a first time rider?
@Devok07 If you are careful and take your time to get used to it I think it would make a good first bike. It has a lot more torque then the 250r and is heavier, but if you are careful I think you'll be fine. Best of luck!
nice ride looks like the autumn color is starting to pop up north of you NH is looking pretty sweet omg its friggn raining hard today congrats on the new bike i like the red illuminated dash pretty tight :)
So you just payed 10 Grand more for the same bike?...
Let's be honest, you're not exactly in need of the upgrade, and for the riding style you've basically thrown 10 grand out the window for worse fuel economy.
@BlinkZX6R First off it wasn't 10 grand, wasn't even 5 when all was said and done. Second off, it has nothing on the 250. And for the extra 2 bucks I'm paying at the pump to fill her up compared to what I was paying with the 250 I think I'll survive.
I have no idea what they're going for used then, I also wasn't bashing your bike or riding, I just come across as rude some times.
I personally think the 650r is a beast of a machine and if I didn't have the ZX6R, I've probably have the same bike as you. I was just speaking my mind, I just figured for your needs the 250r was perfect and that the 650r was more money when the 250 was doing everything you need. Again, I don't know you and it was just my opinion. Nice bike.
@NinjaOnANinja The 650r has radically less performance than a ZX6R and only boasts superiority in comfort. Denying so is blatant arrogance. I wasn't trying to be rude, I just speak bluntly.
@BlinkZX6R Not really. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like it one way, some like it the other. Where as you may say the upright is more comfortable, someone could say they prefer to lean because of the way they like to drive it.
You speak bluntly but I speak it as well and I deal with both sides of the argument, I don't side with my own opinion because its my opinion. I hear both sides and choose after such arguments are made.
@Thomazz46 I want to buy a pipe, but I think I'm going to wait till after x-mas. I also want to install some heated grips which I may do sooner then later.
@lotnic Thanks man. And best of luck with saving for the new bike, it's def. a lot more rewarding saving for your own bike then having someone buy one for you.
@cruellordsoth 30 to the gallon is poor for a 650. Whats your riding style and cruise speed? If its not from high-speed cruising (hurts fuel economy), is your oil reservoir overfilled, filter clogged, chain have any kinks, or tires slightly underinflated?
I will have you know that I bought my dualsport just because she looked good with her green highlights...LOL just kiddin, You bike is awesome. My friends both have ninja 650 and they love them. One even added decals on the tank that says USS Kawasaki (star trek junkie). Thanks for sharing
Ahh yeahhh! Sweet bike man, thats the one bike that I really really love! Looks so sexy, and like you said it seems comfortable aswell as powerfull. Enjoy it for me too =)
thanks for posting again, i was wondering when we were gonna get to see the bike.
Just a couple question about it. Seems like a lot of people complain that the mirrors vibrate a lot at high speeds and it makes it hard to see behind you. is that a problem you've noticed/is it a big deal?
Second, how's the power compare to the 250? I ride i 250 and i love it, but ive always wondered how much different it would be to ride a more powerful bike. is it a completely different experience?
@blatster The mirros do vibrate at high speeds, but it doesn't really bother me. I've read on some motorcycle forums about people who have added in weathering stripping in areas to lessen the vibrations --- I think rthat may be a winter project :)
There's def. a difference in power. A lot more torque as compared to the 250, but its nothing you can't get used to riding around in a parking lot for a few hours. The key is to just take your time when you ride a bigger bike.
@TornamiRider Awesome man! And I haven't given it much thought mainly for the sole reason that I like the up-right riding position because I have back issues.
very nice is it real heavy because i want one just not sure i want to trade the 250R i still love twistys and don't want to trade speed for the corners
@AnthonyThaX I believe it weighs about 100 or so pounds more then the 250. Kawi says its curb weight is 447lbs. The bike handles very well in the twisties so you do not really compromise speed with the added weight.
digital dash speedo is sick... not so sure about tac though. I really like the red flippy needle.
I'm glad you moved up. You're really going to enjoy it. It's a whole new world. Be real careful & slowly work into the throttle. Best of luck to you. Can't wait until I get home over thanksgiving and can do some riding myself. :-D
@MrSpeedfightRichy Yikes! That's a lot man, but not unheard of. I'd shop around a little bit more if you have not all ready. I've been through 3 insurance companies in 2 years lol
how old are you cus i'm 18 and i have a zx6r w/ perfect record and i pay $96 a month just for liability and comprehensive!! it's a killer but worth it!!
@frostyisag10 I just turned 21 a couple weeks ago. I insure my car with the same insurance company and I'm a honor student in college so I get discounts for that which influences the price. If you want I'd get some more quotes from other companies to see if you could get a cheaper monthly rate.
Man, I love this bike!!! Oh wait... I own one :P You got it in the right color too, awesome. I pay the same insurance too. I got to buy these frame sliders. I was wondering how they are going to look but now seeing them on your bike, done deal. Ride safe and enjoy the Ninja, I believe its the perfect sport touring motorcycle at the moment.
dude $440 PER YEAR? i pay 400 a month... wtffffff where do you live?

cniiru 1 year ago
@cniiru
Don't feel bad broski. I paid $2000/y for 3rd party on a 50cc scooter as my first bike.
Now I'm paying $2000/y for 3rd party on my new SV650 ;)
Wolvaroo 1 year ago
@cniiru Ouch, it will go down over time! Hopefully .... haha
Had you checked out other insrance companies for a cheaper rate?

thanks for posting again, i was wondering when we were gonna get to see the bike.
Just a couple question about it. Seems like a lot of people complain that the mirrors vibrate a lot at high speeds and it makes it hard to see behind you. is that a problem you've noticed/is it a big deal?
Second, how's the power compare to the 250? I ride i 250 and i love it, but ive always wondered how much different it would be to ride a more powerful bike. is it a completely different experience?
blatster 1 year ago
@blatster Well about mirrors vibrating at high speed, I wouldn't want to be looking behind for more than a 10th of a second at high speed. Would you?
bfmv580 1 year ago
@blatster The mirros do vibrate at high speeds, but it doesn't really bother me. I've read on some motorcycle forums about people who have added in weathering stripping in areas to lessen the vibrations --- I think rthat may be a winter project :)
There's def. a difference in power. A lot more torque as compared to the 250, but its nothing you can't get used to riding around in a parking lot for a few hours. The key is to just take your time when you ride a bigger bike.

I have that exact bike, you thinking about lowering the handlebars eventually?
TornamiRider 1 year ago
@TornamiRider Awesome man! And I haven't given it much thought mainly for the sole reason that I like the up-right riding position because I have back issues.
1VanFlyheight1 1 year ago
very nice is it real heavy because i want one just not sure i want to trade the 250R i still love twistys and don't want to trade speed for the corners
AnthonyThaX 1 year ago

I've been through 3 insurance companies in 2 years lol

how old are you cus i'm 18 and i have a zx6r w/ perfect record and i pay $96 a month just for liability and comprehensive!! it's a killer but worth it!!
frostyisag10 1 year ago
@frostyisag10 I just turned 21 a couple weeks ago. I insure my car with the same insurance company and I'm a honor student in college so I get discounts for that which influences the price. If you want I'd get some more quotes from other companies to see if you could get a cheaper monthly rate.
1VanFlyheight1 1 year ago
Excellent. The 650r is the perfect bike for you. Looks super sharp as well. Loving the integrates flushmount turn signals. :)
