@paull244 One of Pauls major considerations for adopting this position was to free the right arm from holding the guitar (and not just the problems with his back as there are many alternatives to the foot stool) this allows a far greater range of expressive possibilities. I think the results speak for themselves.
@paull244 ...why not? this is a very relaxed position. most of the lute players prefer having both legs parallel and at the same level at the floor - the traditional guitar playing position causes many uncomfortable tensions in the body due to the rather asymmetric (and twisted) situation of the vertebral column and pelvis.
@DuoContinuo You speak truth. As a classical guitar student trained with a footstool, I really messed up my lumbar spine. I explained the footstool to my chiropractor and he nearly had a heart attack. For those interested in playing in a more familiar angle than Galbraith's "cello" position (which is indeed comfortable and ergonomic), I recommend a guitar rest that props the treble side of the upper bout above the left thigh, reproducing the classical position with both feet on the floor.
@contact1araya He's probably the most technically ingenious and sophisticated musician to ever play the classical guitar: of course he can play and strum chords. He can strum you into next week.
Is this Bach's music?

@ninebreaker21 Just use an artificial thigh. I made one out of a car sponge and a tee-shirt.

Thanks for posting this. He is a favorite of mine. Amazing musicianship. Do you have anything from his Sonatas and Partitas?

criminy, I didn't even know that they made a ten string guitar.
bosatsu76 1 year ago
@bosatsu76 props to you for using the term "criminy". That livened up my day. Thank you.
Berus777 1 year ago
@bosatsu76
they also made an 11 strings
for some reason, when you ++ it to 12 you get a 6 course guitar instead of a 12 s'. a kind of recursion i think
