Avatar is good for what it is, but it's so fucking overrated. I can't believe people still think that it should have won the Best Picture Oscar in 2009 over The Hurt Locker (and Inglourious Basterds, for that matter)
I love QUentin. I always have. In fact i've loved him since before it was cool. But Avatar in my opiinion was the most overrated film in cinema history.
Well, Avatar was bland and quite boring. Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds had elegance, grandure and a kind of epicness that Avatar didn't have. I have nothing against movies that are "rides", but I do hope Tarantino's love for Avatar (he called it his favorite movie of 2009) is not going to change his approach to movies.
Did the audience member read that out from a magazine or something? I think the question was more focused on making him look smart than finding out what Tarantino even thought.

Avatar was not a game changer or even influential for that matter it was just a typical sci-fi action movie, even the effects were just average.

I kind of get what he means though, Its wasn't quite as epic as the Sergio Leone films he wanted to emulate, it was close though.

I really enjoyed the ride provided for Avatar to the point of watching it 3 times already! I also like Quentin tarantino movies :)
