Since 1999 it has been brutally persecuted by the CCP in China. People are being killed, tortured, put into concentration camps and have organs harvested from live people, simply because of their belief. More than 3400 Falun Gong practitioners have died at the hands of CCP in the past 12 years.

  • cool video, good work!

  • @simonjajames Thanks!

  • What a great man and a great story-teller. Thanks for posting.

  • What a beautiful video!

  • @KikaKika94 Thanks!

  • "I had gone to no such place but to the smoke of cafes and nights when the room whirled and you needed to look at the wall to make it stop, nights in bed, drunk, when you knew that that was all there was, and the strange excitement of waking and not knowing who it was with you, and the world all unreal in the dark and so exciting that you must resume again unknowing and not caring in the night, sure that this was all and all and all and not caring." A Farewell to Arms, 1929

  • It was not he who coined Lost generation, but Gertrude Stein.

  • i love authors and musicians life

  • "Once you have truly and untragically loved a woman and a country, nothing else matters."

  • Very Well Done!

  • .... The latter is drivel spouted by homophobic fucking morons. Hardly the most succinct of arguements, but having read the comments spewed across this and other postings regarding Ernest Hemingway; I'd wager that those little pricks have never had a fistfight under the influence of club and cubanos & at the risk of being indirectly responsible for them soiling their panties as a result, would strongly suggest they do so at their earliest convienience.

  • There seems to be a prediliction for slating the meory of an inspiriarational figure such as Ernest hemingway clearly was in both his lifetime and after. If your life inspires others to improve their lot and that of others around them you can die happy. Something Mr.Hemingway, tragically failed to do. Most of this slating seems to be of his hobby choices or insidousness toward his sexuality. The former applies a 21st century ethic to a man who was out of his time in the 20th & the latter......

  • @westhamod

WHAT??????????????? Your comment sounds like a comment made by a prepubescent girl with a mouth full of marbles!!!! ERNEST HEMINGWAY was the greatest American author of the 20th century. PERIOD. Just visited his gravesite in Idaho, which was on my "Bucket list" .... You were the best, Papa!!! RIP!

  • @Supertramp1966

My comment shouldn't sound like anything (unless you are using an audio-aide on your computer); Lovely experience for you to visit Hemingway's grave and I'm always happy to hear of someone achieving something, so hats off to you.

I like Hemingway; I was suggesting some of the authors of those posts that "slag him off", might like to "man-up" get pissed on rum and have a fight or two and then go shoot something. Pillock.

  • @westhamod

Well, you handled my mis-guided insult with a maturity rarly found on a thread. Apologies.....

  • what about the fbi surveillance and harassment? what about his institutionalization with shock therapy for spouting conspiracy theories about the fbi surveillance? what about the shock therapy emotional labotamy leading to suicide? anything?

  • I'm reading The Sun Also Rises and it's obvious that many of his characters shared experiences that he had.

  • "There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit at a typewriter and bleed."

  • Nice video. However at least one thing is wrong - Hemingway never coined the 'lost Generation', in fact he disagreed with the term.

  • Comment removed

  • Chuck Norris can't read, but he pretends to read Hemmingway.

The Most Interesting Man in the World trained under him.

The Sun revolves around James Bond. James Bond revolves around Ernest Hemmingway.

  • Hemingway was a pimp..sheeit

  • Your choice of musics is very appropriate because is a reflection of some of the places he lived: US, France, Spain, Cuba etc..

  • Good choice of music! The line @ 1:02 exclaiming “everyone was gay” is particularly prescient with regards to Ernesto’s predilection towards tampering with other men’s rusty sheriff’s badges.

  • I have to admit that the Old Man and the Sea was perhaps his only novel of any real merit, but his greatest, most edifying piece of work was when his trembling fingers pulled the trigger and blew his own snot-strewn, ridiculously bewhiskered head off. :)

  • @CalebBalderstone

Please don't take this the wrong way, but in my humble opinion your a FUCKIN' IGNORANT PRICK!! And very disrespectful to an incredible author. What have YOU written lately, JACK-OFF???? Please, enlighten me....Forward me your book titles, reviews, etc. I'm especially interested in your book, "I DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT SHIT". (Your best work, I might add).

  • once in 2006, i was in cuba with two friends, we went to the el floridita stood there took a few drinks, and after a while my friends said they are tired and they wanna go to sleep,i stayed there, after a while i took a seat next to the hemingway figure in the corner and drank about 7-8 daiquiris,it was wonderful feeling sitting there alone like he did many years before, watching the barkeepers and the other people, cumming and going it felt like ernest sitting next to me (sorry for my bad english

  • What a gay bastard that loved seing an animal being tortured to death by a fag dressed like a mickey mouse prick.

I hope he suffered enough in his life to make him suicide.

And dont start telling if its better to eat a pig because i dont eat meat.

I really hope that he really suffered.A FAG

Why you people hate Hitler?Because he killed millions of people.Dont you do the same to poor Bulls in spain and seals in canada????

    At leas Hitler loved animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @77elvistheking hitler killed a puppy, you know

  • @shockeyvz Yhea when???In an accident by a car???

Or it was all the propaganda the americans and russians were throwing at him???

Hitler loved animals and can be seen in many photos and videos. And he said it himself that he wants peace for animals and he dreamed a europe of vegetarians.

    ΖΗΤΩ Ο ΧΙΤΛΕΡ ΜΑΛΑΚΙΣΤΗΡΙ

  • @77elvistheking no, when he committed suicide he killed his dog with him and had his officers shoot his dog's puppies. It's not propaganda, it's fact. The propaganda aspect was the part about him loving animals, it helped his image. So sorry but I'm done with this little back and forth seeing as you are completely wrong.

  • @shockeyvz Smart. Now think what you were going to do to your dog and its puppies if you were thinking that if the Russian catch them they will torture them to death???

Have you ever thought that he killed them for that reason???

Did you know that when the killed his dog it died instantly and Hitler was out of the room because he couldnt watch his dog dying himself???When he entered he was clearly sad and left without saying a word???

I bet you never took the time to read these facts in history

  • @77elvistheking PETA! I love burgers me! Especially when the cows have been tortured first, it gives it that extra finesse.

  • @meanmrmustard89 I love when ur mother has been beaten 1st and then fucked, ask her shell tell ya.I and she told me that she is dying from cancer.

    HEIL HITLER YOU FAGS

  • @77elvistheking I'm currently reading Mien Kampf as it happens. I love when that happens to my mother also! It seems we have a lot in common huh PETA?

  • You must have more a handle on life than Hemingway. How is that going?

  • he was not a good man - not at all. not only was he a total drunkard - but he was a violent, judgmental, immature, utterly self-absobrbed mixed up person. i think his work is grossly over-rated as well. who decides who is great in art? Little artsy fartsy cliches. The way hemmingway lived his life - his suicide was belated. If he is lucky enough to be reincarnated - I hope he improves.

  • he was not a good man - not at all. not only was he a total drunkard - but he was a violent, judgmental, immature, utterly self-absobrbed mixed up person.

  • hemmingway was a violent, murderous, whoring arrogant very mixed up naive and immature person. read his biography and dare to read between the lines.

  • I didn´t really know much about this man or have read any of his works.......but it seems that he lived a life of utter torment........ so much pain and death he caused only came back to him !!

  • Great choice of music!!

  • @MrtvaPriroda Faulkner is no doubt one of the greatest writers to have ever lived. But to say that Hemingway is overrated, especially with the basketball analogy you suggest, is a bit strong. When spoken aloud Hemingway's prose is second only to that of Joyce in my opinion and his contributions to prose style were immense. He is not the greatest to have ever lived, but he is an invaluable resource, especially to aspiring writers. And McCarthy owes a debt to Hem and he would likely say so himself

  • Nice video cheers.

  • @meanmrmustard89 Thanks for checking it out! Cheers

  • @meanmrmustard

    :-)

  • Married four times and a raging alcoholic really someone we should look up to.

  • @ryan5564

    YES...YES...YES!!!! Next question, son...

  • After I read the Nick Adams stories I felt like shooting myself in the head with a shotgun. He had the right idea

  • Happy day Ernest Hemingway from Havana

  • Very nice.

  • Was he really that good of a writer? Really??? I mean in his time, William Faulkner was a slam dunk for this guy; Not to mention that even these days Cormac McCarthy is ten times better writer than EH ever was; My opinion (and I read a lot);

  • @MrtvaPriroda It's not about being a better writer... I'm sure if he wanted to, he could have done all of the bullshit that Faulkner did. However, it was the inventing of his style of writing, the ease with which the reader can get through the story, and the simplicity of the writings that make him one of the best.

There's a reason that EVERYONE knows Hemingway, but few outside of the literary world know or care about people like Faulkner.

  • @dropkick426 only a fool can name Faulkner's work "bullshit"; only a complete fool; Faulkner is the greatest writer America ever had and no one close to him; I have much respect fo EH but I also believe he was completely overrated; To compare WF and EH in their mastery of writing skill would be as to compare Michael Jordan and and Steve Nash in their skill in the game of basketball; And dont write me back; whoever says bad thing about Faulkner I want to put a brick in his skull instantly!

  • @MrtvaPriroda You're a complete homo if you get that angry over youtube posts. Kindly go fuck yourself.

  • @MrtvaPriroda Who else than you talks abt Faulkner these days ?

  • @Supertramp1966 Dont know what you answered , as your comment was deleted .

Anyhow, Papa remains # 1 . Rgds from Germany

  • @7berger7

Yes, "Papa" was the Quintessential American writer...... Period! Long Live the spirit of Ernest Hemingway.................

  • @MrtvaPriroda

Your an idiot, a true idiot, which is a damn rare thing these days. Most people are just impostors. Was Faulkner a great writer...yes. But to come on a Hem. thread and mouth off like that. C'mon... "Hem was completely overrated". ????? Really?

Who the fuck are you??? "Papa" was the greatest American author of the 20th century. Period. Put that in your pipe and smoke it....

  • A real man's writer

  • thank you!!

  • I presented Hemingway last week and I played this video ..

All of them like the video & the idea

thank you very much .. this video helped me alot :)

  • @tetetete18 glad the video helped you! thanks for checking it out!

  • Just wanted to say that this is a very good biographical essay. It's just 10 minutes long but I think you have captured his life through the use of those remarkable images and by using sound to capture the mood and the spirit of Hemingway. I especially like the use of the Sinatra song towards the end.

  • @PhlChmbrs Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked it!

  • @PhlChmbrs

    I agree.

A wonderful tribute to a great writer. thank you.

  • @PhlChmbrs @JustKushty Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked the vid and especially the music

  • why do some of the greatest people die so tragically. you know, sometimes i think thats the price of being great

  • he was the best writer in entire history, other writers are good but not like him.

  • my name is ernest too, i am proud because that

  • RIP Ernest. You changed my life.

  • He has said that you can meet an Estonian sailor in every port in the world.

  • Massenmörder!

  • @ jgyll8mt : haha I have to say that the last part is soo funny but he didnt actually say it that way he said :

when u love somthing set it free

if it comes back ,,its yours

if it doesnt ,, it wasnt yours from the begining ,,, By richard bach n_n

  • one to say A must you should read A Moveable Feast 10/10 gr8 book

  • That story about the fishing trip really sticks with you.

  • whats the last song that plays?

  • Great job, well done and in order.

He had an amazing life, that, sadly, ended tragically with him taking his on life.

  • very well performed

  • What a great video!

    Especially,the music really match it.

  • Hemingway once punched my Grandfather, in Toronto. He called him a dirty Jew. He said that a scrawny paper-boy could stand up for himself, even if he couldn't afford gloves. What he didn't realize was that he was being ironical. If we were Jewish we would probably have been able to afford gloves, and maybe a whole boxing ring. But we were Irish. Had he known that, maybe then he wouldn't have needed to punch my grandpa.

  • coulie27,

was one of Hemingway's "themes" ever "If you love someone, set them free?"

I'm just curious, because I met an incredible woman recently who loves hemingway as an artist. As of last week, she "set me free".

Just trying to figure out if subconsciously this is what she's doing. Or, maybe not.

  • "If you love something, set it free,

If it comes back to you, it's yours,

If it doesn't hunt it down and kill it." -Ernest Hemingstein

Actually, it was written by Richard Bach, a guy who wrote for women. Romance novels with Fabio on the cover and other stuff like that.

  • coulie27,

Can you help me with something? This past christmas week I met INCREDIBLE woman when visiting my hometown. Long story short, we spend a lot of time together and really clicked. We decided to keep in touch via calls, letters.

However, now she won't return my call, letters? She LOVES Hemingway, and I was wondering was one of his "themes" ever "If you love someone, set them free?" See, she's a bit of a poetic person, wondering if subconsciously that is what she's doing?

    Or maybe crazy! ha

  • ncgt77

  • this is probably the best youtube-style documentary I've ever seen

  • With a compliment like that, I have to say Thank You !! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone for your kind comments.

  • Hemingway made words tell the story, he didn't try to be clever, just said it so it stayed said.

    I like this video. Thankyou.

  • Really nice tribute!

  • supertramp calm down. This is a good enough power point presentation. I found it interesting and informative, and I've read all his books. Damn if we expect youtube to be an error-free encyclopedia. This is good enough.

  • Ok, If you say so. But it felt good up there on my soapbox...lol And, while I suppose it's a character flaw, but I take exception to idiots...

  • That guy did work!

  • first

  • he was so handsome as a young man

  • Don't you think you idiots should get your facts straight before you post your nonsense? Just another example of internet morons who have NO IDEA what your talking about. Just throw shit out there and hope it sticks, huh.... LOL Long Live the spirit of the great Ernest Hemingway!!!!

  • ncncnc

  • Hey "Con-puto"...Your a fuckin' idiot!!

Long live the memory of Hemingway, our GREATEST AMERICAN writer!!! We still love you, "Papa"...

  • Not a bad way to pass a life time.

  • I never thought I'd be debating WAR CRIMES with a German!!! WAR CRIMES???? Ever hear of HITLER??? I hear he committed some horrific crimes against humanity. And I hear he was YOUR Leader??? You might want to look into this before you try to slander Hem's name. You come in here and talk about Hem and WAR crimes??? I've read much of what Hem wrote, and much that has been written about him and this is completely unsubstantiated. You are ignorant, son...GOD BLESS AMERICA! And long live Hem's spirit!

  • for whom the bell tolls...

  • anyone know where I could get the song at 2:21?

  • farewell to arms one of the best novels ever

  • Infinite respect for this monolith of the spirit of true manhood.

  • Well said Helmu... Hem would not get his due credit today. Now we have these pussies and their "politically-correct-ness"

It's a joke. Hem was a real man - he liked to drink, fight, fuck. He enjoyed good food, good drink, good conversation. And most importantly, he didn't compromise his masculinity. He lived life on HIS terms. Our greatest American writer EVER! Long live the writings and spirit of Papa, a true MAN! RIP Hem. Your spirit lives on in real men!!

  • This man nowadays would not manage to get one single story published, because he wouldn't fit into the political correct liberal dogmatics that has taken over literature in the West the last 30 yrs..

Instead of that they would call him ''narcistic, male chauvinist. misogynic, psychopathic, murderous, fascist.'' etc..

  • Had to come back again.... 0:20-0:45-9:45-10.00 SO SURREAL ^_^

  • i just love him. great writer.

  • Beautifully done-loved the live footage video at the beginning and the ending!

  • Thanks !

  • your welcome! From a TRUE Hemingway fan!

  • wasnt hemingway kind of full of himself? he embelished his tales, got caught, and ate a bullet

  • Your fuckin' clue-less, son. Hem wrote about his life, his adventures. Yes, it was fiction, but it was historically accurarte.

    RIP, Hem....

  • Don't know much about his days in Cuba other than he was ok with Fidel until " the shit hit the fan." Then he had to run for his life.....

  • so did fidel kick him out or why did ernesto leave? why did they have a fall out. i think fidel isnt that bad. just does things different

  • Are you just a fucking asshole,or just stupid? "I think Fidel isnt bad....." -what kind of an ASSHOLE would make that statement !!?? Castro murdered THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE b/c they disagreed with him. He's a fucking DICTATOR !! A COMMUNIST ONE AT THAT !! (course arent they all) Lemme guess, you're a lifetime "student" leftist fuck, right?

  • I agree with your theory to a great extent. Depression is a bitch, and Hem. was seaching for a "cure"...possibly. It backfired and he was left with a double-barrel shotgun and "dying like a man". A sad ending to an incredible life! Long Live "Papa" and his wonderful novels...

  • his birthday actually.........

  • Deplorable, francamente deplorable. Qué asco de tío, homófobo racalcitrante.

  • the song at 4:40 plsss thanx

  • Lovely vid, and very nice songs, merci !

  • Young, dumb fuck!

  • Great Video.

  • Happiness is often presented as being very dull but, that is because dull people are sometimes very happy and intelligent people can and do go around making themselves and everyone else miserable. "Islands in the Stream"

  • Thank you for this video

  • The original international man of mystery!!!!! Pimp Daddy Hemingway!!!

  • why the good things in life are always so short?

    very nice video.

  • If you want to know Senor Hemingway you just have to read his books. They're as easy to find and some silly YouTube video.

  • this should help me a lot I'm doing a research paper on Hemingway. Thanks

  • I LOVE EDITH PIAF!

  • It's a tragedy when anyone takes their own life.

  • Maybe. It is ones life. some can go by will of mind - heart break and other more by hand as they have come to the point

  • Would have been so great to meet him.

  • HOTTIE

  • is the song elephant gun by beirut about him.?

  • He was a great artist and produced some great work. He was also a troubled person and his internal troubles influenced his work.

Do great artists always kill themselves? No. Just to name a few: Picasso, James Joyce, Edith Wharton, Robert Johnson, etc.

    Thanks for posting this tribute!

  • the greatest person in art always do suicide

  • He drove the fucking ambulance in World War I! What have you ever done, besides from just dancing around?

  • It's not at all about being okay or not! The guy must have been suffering very badly, probably more than you could ever imagine. Don't impose your religious beliefs on others.

  • He love to write,he love to travel,he love to sleep with beautiful women, make friends across every continent,he love to drink,he love to shooting, hunt and kill,he live the same way he die, with a blast !! he would make the greatest best man at any wedding.

  • Suicide is a sin,i prayed that God forgive him.I have the greatest admiration for this author, his life is filled with actions, excitement and adventures,he's defintely more then just an author.Ernesto is a hero and an idol of mine,it's very sad,the manner in which he took his own life,a bullet through any part of the body is no way to go.I pray that he find peace in the afterlife,he must have suffered greatly prior to taking his own life, the reasons, what ever it was,he can no longer bare it.

  • "i prayed that God forgive him" take your tragic prayers elsewhere.

  • All of you little fucks take a good look at this man. Ernest Hemingway was the manliest man to ever live. He is the epitome of what a man is. If you combine a ninja, a pirate, a lumberjack, and a trucker, you still wouldnt have equaled the manliness of Hemingway.

  • Haha! That is the best description of Hemmingway I have ever read. Well done! That should be written on something so everyone can read it. Ha.

  • nice combo: pirate, lumberjack and trucker.

  • Nice story.

  • Hm why did he kill himself? I saw something on TV and the lady talking about him said "He committed suicide....with a shotgun."

  • He was getting pretty ill. He wasn't the most healthy person.

  • Oh that sucks. RIP earnest shotgunway

  • Actually he made several attempts and threats but Mary or friends caught him in time. He felt he had to kill himself because he was losing his mind, as he had always feared he would, and he could no longer fight the terrors.

  • I have to respect the guy I learned about him in school, he is definately a mans man.

  • Could you tell me what the song is starting at 2:15?

  • le vieux lyon by georges brassens
