  • Amaaazing!!! So beautiful, with such a grace!!!!

  • great dancer

  • what a great performance!

  • amazing :-)

  • Namo Amituofo...

  • very, very beautiful!

  • I would like to see this dancer do an interpretation of The Dying Swan. She wouldn't even have to do it on pointe, I would just be interested to see how she could apply those arms/hands to the role.

  • Whoa! Great hand movements, the way she imitated the peacock in the first part was really cool.

  • so in ming-qing dynasty han-chinese upper culture had not independent high dance style, but opera styles- kunqu, peking opera.-, so it's no wonder so called "chinese national dance performence(espeacilly han ethnic) seemed very modern, campared to those of other asian cultures.

  • "chinese peacock dance" this title seemed to be somewhat un propriate translation for this dance. too harsh ... "the spirit of peacock" literally translaed title would be more proper. and so-called "chinese traditional dance" we are calling now is the newly invention after 1949. and the combination of chineswe factors and western vallet(espeacilly soviet one). because from song dynasty on, chinese classical dance had gradually absorded into chinese opera, except some vernacular form,

  • She's not flexible. HOWEVER, she has really good body language! bravo!

  • ohh es geneal este video me qede O.O excelenthe .3

  • wonderful!!!

    Greetings from Argentina

  • she's the best dancer man.

  • I thought her arm movements were very beautiful! I know I could not do this. I applaud her for her beautiful technique. Dawnhost don't be so quick to judge. I would love to see you do this!

  • the movements of her arm and fingers are supposed to represent the movement of a peacock, takes a high level of training to perform ike she does. it is not "stiff", her movements are accurate and on point! if you try it yourself, it will probably look nothing like hers.

  • 動人心弦~

  • her arms are amazing

  • I think this is the same woman I saw perform this dance in Beijing 20 years ago. If so she is still as masteful as ever! (If it is the same woman then she's about 45.)

  • @poohathart yes Its the same woman ,now she is over 40 years old , but she still dance , and still perfect!!!

  • @guanfangqian actually she is over 50. she is amazing

  • can anyone tell how old is she now, 50 or 60?

  • in her 40s

  • she was born in 1958

  • @tttmmmddd she was born in 1958.

  • 太漂亮了!

  • Maravilloso! Viva China tradicional, abajo China comunista!

  • Beautiful!

  • I saw this on tv last night and I was just glued to the tv. This is wonderful.

  • omg...such a nice dance

  • Get this woman to a hip hop class stat!!She could be just as good, if not better, than most other robot dancers.

  • LOL, actually, she is one of the most famous top dancers in China, and the first Chinese traditional dancer to be knonw internationally. I do not think any hip hop dancers or robot dancers can even compete with her. not even close.

  • well.. male peacock is prettier than female. and yunan people know that .. beautiful peacocks are male. thus the original dance was performced by males.

  • Ive watched the peacock dance in china and it is exellent. She moves with such elegance and grace and her arm movements are spectacular. She is really talented.

  • this is a really amazing dance and no one can achieve this!!!

  • the dance was beautiful, so soft,i wan her to be my dance teacher.

  • A teacher of Chinese classical dance told me that Peacock dance is a dance of Uzbeki people live in China. And they aren't happy when somebody call them "chinese". So maybe the right name of this dance could be "Uzbeki Peacock dance".

  • Your teacher is an idiot! Uzbeki people are muslim living in dry northwestern china. But dai people are buddist living in rain forest located in southestern china. Find a new teacher, from this idiot, you will never learn essence of chinese dance.

  • So what is the point? Peacocks live not only at rainy forest areas full with Buddists but in some other areas too. For me your sentence sounds idi... not smart.

Buy the way... did I write I want to learn essence of Chinese dance?..

  • hmmm i think u didnt get hes point i think the point danwongC is trying to say is that ur wrong about the origin of the peacock dance. And hes right, the peacock dance didnt originate from the uzbekis. It originated from the Dai people w/c r descendants of the Baiyue. And the Dai, being Baiyue, r CHINESE. Well their also closely related to Thai people, thats why the peacock dance has similarities to thai ethnic dances.

  • He is also right about the Dai being buddhis, thus peacocks an important part in their religious literatures. That is why they love peacocks. This should have been obvious to u since the chinese r well known for their dances that immitate animals: Crane, lion, and dragon dance. Makes sense right? And come on, ask urself have u ever seen an uzbeki guy/girl dance something like this?

  • I copied her answer here too:

The other main difference between the two dances, on how much Western Ballet in thrown into the dance style choregraphy. You will see more Ballet in the Chinese Peacock dance. Even the costume has a strong ballet "Swan Lake" tu-tu look about it. Even to the use of Ballet point shoes.

The Uzbek style, you will see the dancer wearing boots, or Spanish Flamaneco/Tap shoes with their costume. The wear a Persian hat with a peacock feather.

  • The Chinese Peacock dance and the Uzbek Peacock dance are very similar is style. Music and costuming are how you can tell the two dances apart.

Uzbek uses the Middle Eastern music, and the costuming is very Persian.

While the Chinese Peacock dance is from the Dai area of Southern China, and the costume has more of a Thai influence in style.

  • I really dont knw of any uzbek peacock dance, perhaps ur teacher said thery were only similar? and yes the performers presently look like "princes tu tu" but i think that only coz of modernization and westernization coz the original dancers of it were actually male, wearing masks, feathers and wings.

  • But i wouldnt be surprise if the Uzbeks would have a similar dance coz they did lived on central asia and on the chinese "silk road" and its actually written in their text that they traded influences w/ the chinese, indians, persians. But i hav read a text that say the "peacock dance" originated in india, from the "murrugan cult". But i dont knw if this is true

  • But if it did came from india it would make sense coz budhism came from india, and perhaps the uzbkes adopted it as well? i dnt knw. I dont think thers any use arguing w/ such petty topics such as origins, lets jst leave it like that. wats important is that we all knw& appreciate that the dance is GOOD

  • Using the minds eye, you just a strutting Peakcock. The dance was excellent, how she managed to move her arms like she did was really something

  • Yunnanese,She is a great Yunnanese in China

  • I really like this dance....i like her outfit alot...

  • qqqquito: You fail to understand Chinese art and culture. The Chinese are intelligent enough to know the difference between male and female animals. The point of the dance is to draw inspiration from the peacock, not to mimic the bird directly. In fact, in Chinese culture, oftentimes women play men and men play women in plays and opera. take care.

  • OMG.. I envy her soo bad.. The dance was brilliant and the arms movement were indescribably beautiful. GOSH I WISH I COULD DANCE LIKE THAT!!!! Thanks for posting this up.. I'm going to try to learn this dance.. LOL..

  • She is a genius! Absolutely beautiful!

  • A genius that fails to realize that the fowl she is impersonating is male. She should have acted as a peahen, the female peafowl, or the dance should have been performed by a male dancer.

  • Those who dwell in shallow waters will never know how to interpret depths. Art forms is about aesthetics and only the narrow minded commenter cannot see beyond their own folly.

  • Ummm...i've never seen a white male peacock (both in real life and dance arts), but there are many white female peacocks, which means she is impersonating a female all along. usually the dancers who impersonate male peacocks wear the beautiful colorful green ones and the moves are totally different.

  • I've seen one of these before live, but she was not as elegant as this lady. The movement and shape of her arms and back is gorgeous!

Quito, what a dumb comment. For one, its art. It's about "expressing" the peacock. And for two, aside from the "feathers" do you really think a peahen acts very differently?

  • Initially, the peacock dance was generally performed only by males, but they are conveying a different impression here.

  • Once, my friend tries to do this dance and she performed, but she was not good as her.

  • wow!! where do you get the song?

  • i just really like it ~~~~

  • damnz i wanna knoe is whea she get thee dress its so bootyfull....
