Of course christians believe in love but maybe not peace? Who in this world has complete peace always. Not even christians although many may not admit it. Obama inherited an economy in freefall and used classic Keynsian economic theory (deficit spending as stimulus in an economic downturn) and we've had the largest 2 quarter improvement in GDP since 1932.

By 1934 GDP recovered to pre-depression level. In 1937 FDR balanced the budget and the second dip in GDP came - which was ended by defense spending for WWII - the biggest government stimulus package ever.
Actually the real historical record, which would be the laws and policies passed during Hoovers administration and recorded at the Library of Congress, show that Hoovers policies were very progressive, tax increases and the largest increase in government spending in American history, wage and price controls, tariffs,etc. Sound like Laissez Faire to you? Or is the truth that FDR took Hoovers policies and increased them ten fold, turning a recession into the Great Depression
@jjrglobal Not much point in discussing things with you if you are just going to make up facts. Fact is, New Deal returned GDP to pre-recession levels in 3 years. Second dip came when stimulus spending was curtailed to balance budget. Recession ended by massive stimulus from WW II spending. GDP began climbing immediately after FDR started New Deal programs - to say the New Deal caused the depression is simply insane, and wouldn't explain FDR's massive popularity and huge re-election wins.
GDP is perhaps the worst measure for the health of a free market economy because it includes government spending. I noticed you didnt argue with the facts I presented about Hoover and FDR just extending his moronic policies with massive government intervention, which is a short term boost to the economy, but long term (more then 3 yrs) it stifles employment and restricts growth. WW2 didnt pull us out of the Depression, FDR's death and the death of many of his policies did.

Obama inherited an economy in freefall and used classic Keynsian economic theory (deficit spending as stimulus in an economic downturn) and we've had the largest 2 quarter improvement in GDP since 1932.

@LegendaryBlackMamba - The stimulus led to the largest 2quarter rise in GDP in over 70 years and Health Care Reform will provide coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans and will stop the worst abuses of the insurance industry. Deficit spending is justified during a recession. What is not justified is when Bush turned a $225 billion surplus into a $500 billion deficit to pay for a stupid war and tax cuts for his rich friends, pushing us into the recession.

Truman left office with a 32% approval rating and is now considered by most a top-tier pres. Did you notice, we're about to pass financial reform, on top of the other stuff I listed? Objective observers will see O. was handed a country in free fall, pulled us back from the brink and passed a lot of landmark legislation.

Next January when the United States falls into the deepest depression ever known in human history, will you at least admit you were wrong. Everything this administration and the Bush administration did to "help" our economy, are the very things that will bring about the coming depression. If you think about it logically, trying to prop up a recession only prolongs it, since the recession is the cure for the boom which caused the malinvestment. This all happened before, we are in 1931

@jjrglobal The historical record proves you wrong. Hoover did not respond to the economic downturn. Depression resulted. FDR used government spending to stimulate the economy. By 1934 GDP recovered to pre-depression level. In 1937 FDR balanced the budget and the second dip in GDP came - which was ended by defense spending for WWII - the biggest government stimulus package ever.

Actually the real historical record, which would be the laws and policies passed during Hoovers administration and recorded at the Library of Congress, show that Hoovers policies were very progressive, tax increases and the largest increase in government spending in American history, wage and price controls, tariffs,etc. Sound like Laissez Faire to you? Or is the truth that FDR took Hoovers policies and increased them ten fold, turning a recession into the Great Depression

@jjrglobal Not much point in discussing things with you if you are just going to make up facts. Fact is, New Deal returned GDP to pre-recession levels in 3 years. Second dip came when stimulus spending was curtailed to balance budget. Recession ended by massive stimulus from WW II spending. GDP began climbing immediately after FDR started New Deal programs - to say the New Deal caused the depression is simply insane, and wouldn't explain FDR's massive popularity and huge re-election wins.

GDP is perhaps the worst measure for the health of a free market economy because it includes government spending. I noticed you didnt argue with the facts I presented about Hoover and FDR just extending his moronic policies with massive government intervention, which is a short term boost to the economy, but long term (more then 3 yrs) it stifles employment and restricts growth. WW2 didnt pull us out of the Depression, FDR's death and the death of many of his policies did.
