For the people that's calling Lupe mainstream, it's not a bad thing. Mainstream means he is putting his audience out to a wider audience but not changing and doing what the record label tells him to. Someone like Lil Wayne though is COMMERCIAL which means he went mainstream but does whatever the record label tells him to so he can make cash.
