And it's not only his hair that is so beautiful, he's just a divine human being. But most of all it's his voice that penetrates the soul over and over again. I listen to the LOVE album every day and I hope to do so till I die
This album is superb, and this song is its crowning jewel. The whole album flows flawlessly, it was written, produced, and performed so well it boggles my mind. It is always moving to hear this album, this song in particular. A quarter century old, and still captivates me from start to finish.
RAIN was my teenage mope music, lol. The Cult rules! Thanks for posting and great job with putting the solid studio track with all those great photos of the band.
This song is for my soul brother who died 19th January 2010, in life you give so much pleasure in death you are a spectrum shining brighter than the sun..... Oceans Of Love Always & Forever xxx X xxx
I love this song.... I love the Cult... I was about 12 when I first discovered them on MTV in 82... I have all of their stuff from the days of the Southern Death Cult to the present... As a guitar player of 30 years, some of my greatest memories are playing along with their music at very loud volumes... There's tranquilty, rage, madness, and a complete beauty that is captured in their music... It is like fine wine, as it ages it gets better and the buzz is more hypnotic and defined... LOVE...
the thing about the cult is they didn't sell an album with only 1 or 2 good songs on it the whole album would just freaking rock.It would be ike a journey to get to the end of it and when you do you just start it over again. my favorite band ever
TO ALL sending their love . It means alot. As the seizures have started & my daughters father is taking her over to Germany to be his apprentice (tattooist, Siarn does amazing artwork) & won't visit 4 next few years. My brother & I were orphaned when i was 13, i had to raise my brother , go to school, to go home and run a house, pay all bills, all domestic & dinner & grocery duties, and i let go of 2 of the most amazing men with the best future one could hope for, so i have many regrets also.
I love the Cult so much. But, might it be true, on those two first albums (despite i learn its mostly psychic rock with post punk) that it's also gothic rock genre?
@MrFrankutube Hey I used to drive my 4x4 into the deep woods and listen to them.....I bet we r not the only souls that escaped into nature and listened to them....
damm good memories from the 80's listening to this music, I still love this band, a 60's child and we had some excellent music to carry us to this time, interesting that my kids like this style as well..:)
Love might be the best Cult album to ever. May change my mind next month but I always go back to Love. Awesome album. I remember being one of like 3 other kids in my high school who were listening to them. All of us skaters and or bikers.
I bought Love when it came out, and at the time really didnt like this track. Just wanted all the other faster heavier stuff.
20 or so years later, and its one of my all time favorites.
Billy Duffy's guitar is sublime, and Astbury's voice a driving force.
I saw the original Doors at Wembley, with him fronting them. One of the best concerts i have ever been to. You know its good when the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and the tears stream down your face.
Chris Wyse, who auditioned to play bass for Metallica, was the bass player for the Cult on only a portion of their 7th album, Beyond Good and Evil and toured with them fpr s hort time. Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury are the Cult...the bass player and drummer have changed many many times throughout the band's 26 years.
Not that auditioning for Metallica is so bad. They keep their bass players around longer...with a bit of a death grip, it seems.
thnx 4 posting.agree with ,,, Love is a timeless masterpiece n ths is a timelsess tune.have it on vinal but its great that others cn hear how great the tunes were in this era.R.
i must be blessed...off to see these legends of rock May 6 2010...a while between drinks....sydney 1988 if memory serves me correct...it may not...electric did it for me then, but LOVE is tres (much) indeed a true masterpiece esp this particular jolting, yet soothig tune...long live the cult
What a F*KN GREAT band! Listened to this album 1000's of times. Smokin' cloves and drinking 40's in the desert. Watching the sun go down. Building the confidence to kiss her before the song ends... and the sun goes down.
@vealshanker me too, but this album's a one-off isn't it. All their later albums lost the uniqueness of Love, and they became a bit more rocky like everyone else. Classic album.
I couldn't sleep unless this song was on and I would sit with my candles and incense and dream of the rain falling and hear thunder in a dreamy haze.... I love this so much
@Graver333 i would do the same pretty much...sad to say it reminds me of happier times years ago when there was someone to share this song with to sleep...but i still love it :)
Resistant 38, I totally agree with you, it somehow makes everything ok hearing this song, i am 43 and terminally ill with 4-5 yrs left, but i can remember the first time i heard them, thank God some things are timeless.
the cult has always rocked and they always will!! I had my whole music collection stolen many years ago i have tried to recreate my collection but its so hard to find the UK Bside albums i had.
To all the The Cult fans live long and rock hard!!!
@easyrller There's an American mega box set with amazing stuff on it. For the life of me I don't know why these guys are so HARD to buy in the shops. But, hey, there's Katy Perry they want us to buy instead.
@Noodles37UK I think you are refering to Beggars Banquet Black box releases. There was "Rare Cult" 6cd's of mostly unrelased or rare stuff including the entire "Peace" album (plus a bonus mix cd) and the much harder to find "Rare Cult - demo sessions" (5cd's of just raw studio takes not mixed. Only 500 of these were made). Both of those were from England not the US.
@didoodle you are not alone my friend the spirit is strong, dont ever give up,embrace change like a butterfly ,,as Einstein says nothing ever dies,,im right here if you need a friend.god bless
@catalunarocks I would love to see them, but i am in Australia and i doubt they'll be playing at any gigs here :( The best thing is that i have beaten all of the medical statts as i am too busy to die at the moment, and so i will continue to get more years.
@didoodle you never know they might show up in Australia, check online. I'm gonna see them on TUESDAY in Seattle, so stoked !!! I've loved them a long time, never saw them before, really thrilled, it's a small venue. sounds like you're doing good, keep your spirits up and keep beating the medical stats! glad you're busy, hope you get to catch lots of gigs in Oz! music is so healing. hope you get lots of support too. now they have groups online to support anything, that helps.
@catalunarocks thankyou so much for your support, i am keeping an ear out for any gig's here, I would love to see them, even if i don't remember it ! It would still be worth it. I know that they have released another album, i am just trying to locate their website so that they will have their upcoming tour dates on there. it's one of the things on my "Bucket List" that's for sure. :o)
@didoodle yeah go see them if u can, i just went to see them, the show was just magic, I love his voice, they had this great visual backdrop of the wilderness, so cool. they rocked the house i was totally transfixed, they did some of my fave songs, firewoman, sweet soul sister, wow. their opening band was good too, Black Ryder, they are from Aus. so maybe they will tour there /w the Cult, go see them if you can! great show. i hope you are doing well, you sound well. rock on brother! enjoy life
@didoodle wow. i dont even know how to say this. im going thru a bad patch at the moment. just turned 40, coming down from an amazing career that i destroyed and now living with my 76 year old mom... i just wanted to hear this song and read your comment. my heart goes out to you. im so sorry. i dont know you. i dont know if life gave you the things you needed or desired ,but i wish you nothing but peace and happiness. and may these next hopefully bring you happy times and comfort.
esta banda es INCROYABLE me encanta y la voz de IAN ANSBURRY es inigualable nunca pasa de moda ni puede dejar de escucharse y todos los cds tienen cada uno algo tentador.
I used to listen to this in Cambridge with my lovely Teresa Gomulczak, and we used to go and see them alot together too - classic the time we took Chrissy Lar from Liverpool to see them at De Montford Hall, so glad we did that............Love everyone!
started listening to the cult in 85' or so after i seen them open up for billy idol, half the croud left when they finished there set...timeless show...never will see those days again...long live the cult
Darren Brown introduced me to The Cult and The Damned back in the early 80's in Ballyclare High School - and I'm still listening.....long live the Cult & the Damned - pure genius!
from sister moon:let the light be in you for herat's forewer, with no ters no sadnes,i won't to see you up in heawen, very much good luck from Viktorija in Croatia
my beer drinking days. this was the song i would play on a cloudy, cold night with a full moon in the back that would light the the partial covered sky, bright blue, in the orange grooves in corona, CA with all of my high school drinking buddy's ha ha some of the girls and light weights would get scared and leave??? lol
...dedicated to my twin brother and male-Wolf from his not ment to be female-daughter of the Moon...see you in next life..."Brother Wolf your time has come..."mine ends with you...SILVIJA KATARINA...
i total agree with peace man well the american part any way ian if u r reading this y did u change u were so fuckin brilliant when u wrote songs like this and the lyceum gig in 84 will be 4ever known as ur best ever gig thanks 4 all the good times mr i live in the states now but i rember where ur from even if u dont Mr ian bradford astbury dont 4get ur roots man
I know that this may sound so fucking stupid, but just for a humble second, imagine Cocteau Twin`s Elizabeth Fraser voice make the backing chorus at this master piece. (I insist, im sorry)
Why are you so sorry? Why do you consider yourself stupid for such a suggestion? Elizabeth Fraser is an outstanding singer and a unique artist. Her backing vocals would only enhance the quality of this song.
I`m no Cult fan now but i did see them at Wembley in 1989 and the sound was too much bass and not much else. Then they went to America where they all thought they were god.Don`t know why.
This song hooked me from the first note! When I bought this cd I really didn't know what I was in for. What is really striking about this that it sounds very funereal. It's practically saying that death won't scare me anymore.
I REALLY want to go back to 1985 but its impossible. So sad that I born in 1988 :D Oh The Cult oh that Ian oh that Billy oh that 80s oh that LIFE in music
I'll second that mate...... a terrific and very genuine guy to hang out with. Lovely, tight drum sound too; really used to get over the top of his kit! R.I.P
And it's not only his hair that is so beautiful, he's just a divine human being. But most of all it's his voice that penetrates the soul over and over again. I listen to the LOVE album every day and I hope to do so till I die

I used to listen to this in Cambridge with my lovely Teresa Gomulczak, and we used to go and see them alot together too - classic the time we took Chrissy Lar from Liverpool to see them at De Montford Hall, so glad we did that............Love everyone!

I was in love with Ian!!
I had the fortune to meet them for the streets of Rome Italy in the 1985...I thought I was ready to die.

Darren Brown introduced me to The Cult and The Damned back in the early 80's in Ballyclare High School - and I'm still listening.....long live the Cult & the Damned - pure genius!
Thanks Darren.

This band is timeless. Never bending-over
for the suck ass record companies that have
destroyed music as a whole. Long Live The CULT.

I know that this may sound so fucking stupid, but just for a humble second, imagine Cocteau Twin`s Elizabeth Fraser voice make the backing chorus at this master piece. (I insist, im sorry)
lavitroladeldiablo 3 years ago
Why are you so sorry? Why do you consider yourself stupid for such a suggestion? Elizabeth Fraser is an outstanding singer and a unique artist. Her backing vocals would only enhance the quality of this song.

I`m no Cult fan now but i did see them at Wembley in 1989 and the sound was too much bass and not much else. Then they went to America where they all thought they were god.Don`t know why.

These guys looked so young. I stole this CD from a buddy at school and have been hooked ever since. No voice like Ian's, crazy bastard.
kcsmitty18 3 years ago
This song hooked me from the first note! When I bought this cd I really didn't know what I was in for. What is really striking about this that it sounds very funereal. It's practically saying that death won't scare me anymore.
