Well, that cat finally died today; god, it sure was depressing, seeing her. I kept waiting for her to meow, or snap awake, but she didn't. The poor thing. We buried her in the backyard a few hours ago. I don't think I'm getting any sleep tonight.

I'm glad you were able to have him for 14 years, and I wish only the best for you and your other pets. And Knabbel will be hard for anyone to forget. Chip wasn't in to good of a mood for a few days, kept looking for his pal. I did let him check Knabbel once he was gone, so that he could see for himself that it was over, but once they took him away he forgot pretty soon of course. Whenever he hears a cat meow now, he goes off in a frantic search of the house. I'm sure he'll settle down.

Knabbel and his brother were around 1 year old when he entered my life. My father and I took them away from someone who mistreated them. Kept them in a very small room and was very mean to them.

It sucks when you loose a pet. I remember my very first Cat "Bing" who died when I was 10 and man did I cry so bad! He was always going outside and sometimes I would see him out and about while I would walk to school. He went everywhere and got into fights with other cats. That's actually what got him. Then I had a Golden Retriever "Simba" who died of old age but I still miss him! I have a cat now named "Tumbler" who kinda looks like Knabbel. I sure will miss him when he's gone.

Being a pet owner myself and having lost a couple, I know all too well how it feels.
In my life, I've lost 3, although one of them was put down when I was a toddler. The other 2 were put down when I was in my teens (a dog and cat), I was so cut up when I lost them because they (along with my Grandad) all died in the space of 6 months.
@AtsumaKarin judging by the description, however, it seems that, in spite of a difficult upbringing, he was able to live a fulfilling life until the cancer hit so there's at least some solace that could be taken from that.
At least he's free from suffering now and IMO, any decent pet-owner would've done the same thing.
soory about you loseing your Pal dude, I lost one of my twin cats recently to renal failure out of the blue he was sick and died within 3 days he was only 5, I share your pain, all the best, pets are the best there so honest & pure..

@Edgefox88 It's something that will always hurt, having to say good bye to a loved one, but that's part of life too and that little bit of pain pales in comparison to the huge amounts of fun you have with that individual before that time.

Oh wow that has got to be tough. I'm sorry for your loss. I have 2 cats now and they are the first pets I've ever had that are 100% mine and not family pets. I couldn't imagine having to decide to put one of them to sleep.
@callmemarc Ending a life short is never a easy decision (nor should it ever become easy I think). You never know if it's truly the right decision, it's a shame we can't clearly communicate with out pets to ask their opinion.

My cat has gotten really bad and my step dad is bringing her to be put to sleep on Monday. Sooo sad, but she lived a good life. :(
