@mustang661c, just because the v6 mustang has a quicker 0-60 time and the automatic with a 2.xx rear end is advertised as getting 31 mpg doesn't tell you anything about how good its engine is vs. the f20c. Weight, gearing, redline, torque band, etc. all have a tremendous impact on how a car performs vs. another, even ones with engines making the same peak numbers. To simplify the comparison to acceleration numbers and mpg is a terrible injustice to both engines IMO.

Yes, the mustang is faster around a track, cheaper when new, etc. What I want to say is you can't make a legitimate comparison between two engines solely using performance numbers of two cars whose only real similarity is rear wheel drive. You must consider everything from differences in drivetrain loss, useable powerband, specific output, etc.

I never said one was better than the other, just that you're oversimplifying the comparison between the two.

new v-tec engines pull hard from low revs...actually pull better than other engines with same power. I've been driving new honda accord with 2.4l 201HP engine, and it pulls from lower revs much better than for example BMW 320i with 177hp or even the new audi / vw 1.8 turbo engine. If im not wrong, honda does 80-120 km/h in 4th gear in less than 7,5 seconds, which is great for petrol engine without turbocharger

the japanese ppl are able to pull out MORE hp from a 4 cylinder engine when compared to all other cars (euro,american etc) same with V6's, (altho most of the v6 japanese engines have limited hp cuz of a such thing called "law") Japanese engines, by far, have the best and most reliable engines, once they start goin into makeing v10 v12 etc engines that are in the import exotic category, bmw and other european cars have no chance. only problem is japan still hasnt developed a v10/12 engines.
